Comments about Ovation Adamas Limited Edition Acoustic-Electric Mandolin:
I ran across this little gem at a recent music industry event. At that same show I tried many top-end mandolins by the biggest names in the business. So when I sat down with this I was expecting the usual thin acoustic sound Ovations are known for.
Instead I was greated by one of the biggest and best mandolin tones I've ever encountered.
The neck has a very nice profile and the matte finish feels great on the hand. I played sitting and found the instrument fit perfectly with great balance. I could have played for days if I could. And loud as a cannon without compromising sound.
IME Ovation's strength is in their amplified sound, acoustic tone isn't usually a strong point. While I was not able to try it plugged in, I highly recommend this based on it's acoustic tone and playability alone.
I was very pleasantly surprised and it gets my "Best of Show" award.
