The resonating tone of traditional Americana, in a 4-string bell brass ukulele.

Made from an entirely European bell brass body and featuring a 6" hand-spun Continental cone, this Recording King resonator ukulele adds a unique twist to the classic Hawaiian instrument. This rare ukulele model features a mahogany neck, rosewood fretboard, Champion-style friction tuners, pearloid headstock overlay and a bell brass coverplate.

These excellent features give the traditional instrument fantastic projection and a bark that is uncommon yet very appealing among ukuleles. Includes featherweight case.

Comments about Recording King RU-998 Metal Resonator Ukulele:

As a 4th generation Uke player I love this instrument, as I play with a slide it's got the perfect dimmensions for me and the hammer on/off action really makes a huge difference. I use it live and for recording.
The Recording King is amongst a bunch I have but is overall my favorite.

      Expensive toy

Comments about Recording King RU-998 Metal Resonator Ukulele:

With the upgrades needed the ukulele is an expensive toy
      needs better strings and tuners
Neck looks and feels cheap with glue showing and sharp corners on the nut,
      Expensive at the new price

Add some strings to your order

      By Alex Ebens

Comments about Recording King RU-998 Metal Resonator Ukulele:

Fun to play, unique sound. More dobro than uke. Add some nice strings to your shopping cart. A true pain to restring but well worth it. An expert or pro might want to consider a domestic or custom instrument.
Needs new strings. Yeah, its heavy but, hey its made of brass. Machine tuners might ballance the weight a bit.
Great value for a mass produced instument.

      Nice instrument but...

Comments about Recording King RU-998 Metal Resonator Ukulele:

I am not sure I would buy one at full price
. Body finish is good. It is heavy. Neck appears a bit plastic.
I feel it needs Aquila strings and Grover tuning machines
I just bought it. An excellent price and $29 for a two year warranty. There was a sale on which discounted the uke further by 15%.

      Beautiful, but fragile

Comments about Recording King RU-998 Metal Resonator Ukulele:

I have one of these, and it really gets folks' attention when I pull it out at jams. Amazing, ringing sound, almost banjo-like, and LOUD.Problem is, it's pretty fragile. I dented the cone somehow, even though I'm pretty careful; I was able to fix it, but it's now sounding like it's happened again. The delicate cone seems to just not hold up to hard strumming.
