Comments about Recording King U25 Banjolele:

I was impressed when I unpacked the box. I had never heard of Recording King, but this is a well made instrument for the price. It has good tone and holds its tuning well. The only thing I didn't like was the nylon strings. I am used to playing steel strings and just can't get used to the nylon sound. Other than that I would recommend it to anyone who doesn't mind the nylon strings.

Comments about Recording King U25 Banjolele:

Took a chance on this Recording King banjo ukulele for my daughter, since the price was right and the reviews were generally positive, and we're really pleasantly surprised with it. Fit and finish is nice, and it sounds pretty good (we've only had it one day and the strings are still stretching so it's hard to tell).

First thing we did was to yank the el cheapo strings that it comes with and give it a new set of Aquila Nylguts, which made it sound even better. If you're interested in the banjolele and want a fun and inexpensive little instrument to play with, this is a great choice.

You have to put the floating bridge in yourself when you get it. Tip: the bridge should be the same distance that the nut is from the 12th fret. If it's not, you'll have intonation issues.

Comments about Recording King U25 Banjolele:

After two weeks of playing, the strings were still .09 inches high over the fret board at the 1st fret. I knocked off the nut and found a glob of glue underneath. I sanded off the glue blob and sanded down the bottom half of the nut. I reinstalled the nut and now it is much easier to play. I would not recommend this or any Soprano size as a first ukulele, but it is a nice alternative to my regular Uke for certain songs.
