I have been playing guitar for 30+ years and decided to give banjo a try---I was very impressed with the build quality at this price level---I will probably upgrade the tuners at some point, but that is not unusual for me---most of my guitars have been modified in some way, and the stock tuners are usually the first thing to go. This is a great instrument---don't let the low price fool you!

The setup on this banjo was really not good. Strings were incredibly high off of the fretboard. Tuners were barely held in with screws falling out (literally fell out while tuning the first time), cracked bridge, and very loose head. Couldn't really believe that MusiciansFriend would actually let that out of their factory in the condition they did. I actually assumed it was a used instrument until I called to check. Could not COULD NOT hold a tune. Set it up and still couldn't hold a tune. Neck was strong, body was not. Maybe save your money for the low end fender or washburn instead.

Comments about Rogue B30 Deluxe 30-Bracket Banjo with Aluminum Rim:

I wasn't expecting much of this banjo when I ordered it, but it has really been a pleasant surprise. This is definitely a budget instrument (as the extremely low price would indicate), and normally you get what you pay for. In this case, when compared to other beginner banjos, you get a bit more than what you pay for.

The tone is great (sounds like a banjo), and the instrument holds its tune well enough for lessons and practice. The banjo arrived with the bridge in the proper position (as far as I could tell from what I've read). I have been playing guitar for over 20 years, and I believe that this is a great instrument to begin the process of learning banjo. I will upgrade one day, but I believe that this banjo will be better than my abilities for some time.

I have been playing guitar for 10+ years, and have always wanted to play banjo. I bought this one based on the price, and reviews saying that it was a good beginner banjo. I was not disappointed. It sounds amazing, looks even better, and I have absolutely no complaints. Stays in tune, and is a pleasure to play.

when i receved banjo the neck was set wrong and could only adjust by placing shims between neck and body. I hooked strap to clips on banjo 2 min after puting on they broke. I took them out and used a shoe string through holes. this works great. for the price you get a nice banjo but it needs instructions for the begining user

Comments about Rogue B30 Deluxe 30-Bracket Banjo with Aluminum Rim:

I've had this banjo for a few months now, and it's served me well. I'd been wanting to learn the banjo for some time, but didn't want to drop a ton of money on an instrument I might not like, so this was perfect. As a guitarist, a rock/metal guitarist at that, I didn't know the first thing about the banjo, but after ten years playing guitar I do know a decent instrument. The action is really nice, I don't have to work too hard fretting notes. It has a great tone, comparable to the higher end Fenders I played at the local music store before getting this one. It holds its tuning really well, I've only had to tune it twice since I got it. It's built really solid, and is a beautiful instrument to look at. Overall I have nothing bad to say about it. I highly recommend it.

Comments about Rogue B30 Deluxe 30-Bracket Banjo with Aluminum Rim:

This was my first banjo, so I did a lot of research on-line. The banjo arrived and appeared to be in perfect shape and basically set-up. I tuned it and started practicing. I was impressed with the quality/appearance/tone of the banjo and after the strings settled in after a couple of days it stayed in tune. After having it about a week I removed the resonator to hear how the banjo sounded opened backed. I discovered a fairly large gouge missing from the base of the neck where it connected to the pot (factory damage). I contacted Musicians Friend, informed them of the damage, and as always there customer service was second to none. They sent me a replacement banjo, with a prepaid return shipping label for the one I had. I've had the banjo for about a month now and I am completely satisfied with the B-30 Rogue. For the price, I feel it is probably one of the best beginner banjos on the market. Everyone that see's it is impressed.

I have been playing guitar and a little drums for about 10 years now and wanted to try to expand into the banjo...after looking around and finding this little gem of a banjo I jumped on it!! Waited a little longer then I would have liked but it was worth the wait! Excellent fit and finish, no rough frets or scuffs. The resonator projects the sound very well, my wife commented that it is much louder then my acoustic guitar! Out of the box it just required a little tuning (to be expected) and then it was off to picking and grinning!! Can't wait to get it by the camp fire!
