First of all, the only real difference between the Irish Whistle and the Mellow D Whistle is that the Mellow D has a slightly wider bore than the Irish Whistle, though both are considered Irish Tin Whistles. The 10-pack of whistles I purchased came in a small Walton?s box, without any packaging separating the whistles inside. I found no dents, however, and only a few slight scratches overall, which is something to expect since these are made of brass (they are named ?tin? whistles because the first mass-produced ones were made of tinned sheet metal). Unlike the ones sold individually, there is no leaflet of popular tunes or fingering chart included, so there are no instructions on how to play the instrument, although you can find them easily on the Internet. The Mellow D is better suited for doing airs compared to the standard Irish Whistle. Airs are favored by the Irish and typically use slow and long notes. These whistles are made in Dublin, Ireland, and make a lovely sound. I recommend this whistle over the standard Irish whistle simply because it is a little easier to play and you can always give away the extra 9 as gifts, if not resell them if you have no need for the extras.
