OVERVIEW

Compact with a focused sound and excellent electronics for recording and live work.

The ˜66 models are beautifully finished and have a deep glass-like shine. The vintage sunburst on mahogany brings out the grain to create a warm look to match its tone. These mahogany top guitars have a focused sound with strong mids, great for recording and live work.

The SYS550 designed by B-BAND is a pro-level EQ and pickup that reproduces the sound of the guitar very closely with great clarity. B-BAND use a patented under saddle electret film pick up which eliminates synthetic or processed sounds often heard with Piezo or other styles of pickup. The result is a very true, acoustic sound. SYS550 also has an accurate, backlit chromatic digital tuner.

Alvarez's Artist Series is now "The Award Winning Artist Series" - winning competitions and receiving rave reviews in the States, Europe and around the world. It's a truly designed line of guitars that stands tall and sounds sweet in the solid top guitar market.

Hand-selected solid tops; forward shifted scalloped bracing, awesome tone and player experience¦.

The term "solid top" refers to the soundboard of an acoustic guitar being made of solid wood, rather than being laminated. However, just because the top is solid, it does not necessarily mean the sound automatically benefits from this feature. The tone of the instrument only improves significantly when the whole guitar is built correctly to really release the energy a solid soundboard can generate. Artist Series is built to do exactly this.

Each model is designed to get the best out if its components, and for them to work together to produce a tone and player experience, rarely found in affordable instruments. These components include the FST2M bracing system, bi-level bridge, real bone nut and great quality tonewoods.

FSTM is a forward-shifted X brace design. Both the X braces and asymmetric tone bars are scalloped. Moving the system forward allows for a larger soundboard, which is optimized with a solid maple bridge plate for both strength and energy.

The sound is warm, open and powerful, and both the treble and bass registers are clearly present and balanced in relation to each other. These guitars feel right and are exciting to play and responsive. Dig in and they shout right back at you, treat them gently and they whisper and respond instantly to the lightest strum or pick.

The solid ˜A' grade Sitka spruce and cedar tops are hand-selected from quarter-sawn wood. This ensures consistent quality, and its no secret better guitars are made from better wood. These tops not only look great but they are stiff and strong and finely grained.

Comments about Alvarez AP66E Parlor Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

A really nice guitar, my first besides my "guitilalle", plays nice and is fun along with the onboard tuning and electronics that accompany the guitar. I think it is a very attractive guitar also and I look forward to playing it for a long while.. I would give it another quarter star..

Comments about Alvarez AP66E Parlor Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Having owned the AP66 and AP70 for over a year and installing K+K pure mini pickups I decided to try the AP66E. While the pickup sound was OK, the overall output was so low it took major changes in the mixing board to adequately get the sound thru the system. Same concern with acoustic amps, etc. A friend also bought one with the same issue. If this is your only AE guitar then you can set the board and be reasonably happy with it but if you change out guitars in a set you will be looking for headaches galore. Sadly, I have to recommend passing on this one.

Comments about Alvarez AP66E Parlor Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I have a total of 10 guitars. I have Martin's, Taylor's, Ovation's, and a couple custom builds. Several of these cost more the 10 times what this great little guitar cost. I have great choices from which to choose when I head to my music room for my daily therapy session, but this is the one I take down off the wall and spend most of my time with. I also throw it in the case each morning and take it with me, just in case I get the chance to bust out a song or two during the day. If you're looking for great value, and something you would be proud to own, you've found the right page, now just hit the buy button above.

Comments about Alvarez AP66E Parlor Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I bought this as a couch guitar to play around with and work on finger picking. I didn't expect much on the sound front considering its a small body guitar that has laminate back and sides, however the sounds out performs the price for sure, on par with the entry level Martins. Fit and finish were excellent and the guitar looks beautiful. The guitar has a 1 3/4 nut width which is great for finger picking but certainly doesn't preclude it from being a great strumming guitar either. If you are in the market for couch/parlor guitar in this price range, I think this is hands down the clear winner (or the Ap70 which has a Spruce top and a slightly brighter sound).

Comments about Alvarez AP66E Parlor Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I have been on a search for the great travel guitar. I bought this one several months ago and really over it. The tone was great and the look was beautiful. I have gone through a lot of guitars. If you follow me you know there is a 12 step program with my name on it. I traded it for who knows what. I have reached my satuation point. I am fine with what I have except for this guitar. I will be buying one as soon as I make amends to my bank account

Comments about Alvarez AP66E Parlor Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I paid a little more for this than my Alvarez AP660ESB, but really wanted a 12 fret. I was very pleased with the action and sound right out of the box. With a few minor tweaks this should be an excellent guitar. Used it for 4 gigs so far and love it!
