An affordable guitar with a hand-selected solid spruce top, mahogany back and sides, and B-BAND electronics.

The Alvarez Artist Series AG60CE Acoustic-Electric Guitar is a Grand Auditorium, which has similar dimensions to the Dreadnought, but a narrower waist helping to pronounce the treble notes a little more. Great for fingerpicking and strumming, the GA is an all rounder. This model is fitted with the SYS650 blend system with tuner. The AG60CE is a member of the Alvarez Artist ’60 Series. Alvarez was careful to get the construction just right to allow this series to sing, and deliver a player experience that's exceptional for a mid-price instrument.

The term “solid top” of course refers to the soundboard of an acoustic guitar being made of solid wood, rather than being laminated. However, just because the top is solid, it doesn't necessarily mean the sound automatically benefits from this feature. The tone of the instrument only improves significantly when the whole guitar is built correctly to really release the energy a solid soundboard can generate. The Artist Series is built to do exactly this.

Each model is designed to get the best out if its components, and for them to work together to produce a tone and player experience, rarely found in affordable instruments.

The sound is warm, open and powerful, and both the treble and bass registers are clearly present and balanced in relation to each other. These guitars feel right and are exciting to play and responsive.

The solid ‘A’ grade Sitka spruce tops are hand-selected from quarter-sawn wood. This ensures consistent quality, and its no secret better guitars are made from better wood. These tops not only look great but they are stiff and strong and finely grained. This allows them to be cut just that tiny bit thinner, which lets them dance a little more and produce a lot more vibration, and ultimately a richer tone.

All of the components are made of natural materials such as mother of pearl and abalone inlays, real bone saddles and nuts and rosewood appointments.

SYS650 dual pickup
The Alvarez SYS650 was designed by B-BAND and is a dual pickup system incorporating one under saddle pickup and a transducer pickup placed under the soundboard. Either pickup can be selected or one can blend between the two to fine-tune the response for lead, fingerpicking or rhythm work. The system also has a fully chromatic, precision tuner with backlit LCD screen, 3-bands of rotary EQ, and a notch control that can be used to attenuate feedback or to shape the sound.

It is a good gig guitar for anyone wanting a good sound and and easy playing. I got it on sale and for the price it is great. It works well as a gig guitar for anyone not wanting to take an expensive guitar out where it could get damaged or stolen.

Comments about Alvarez Artist Series AG60CE Grand Auditorium Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Awesome guitar right out of the box. I have been playing guitar for 20 years plus, electric guitars only. Used to gig back in the day. Never purchased an an acoustic guitar before, so I thought I would go with a USA made handcrafted guitar that I could plug in to my Marshall amp and run some effects with it to see what happens. This guitar sounds great acoustically and also sounds cool plugged in. You can make several tonal adjustments on the guitar itself with the EQ and dual pickup system, not to mention running your favorite effects. Can't go wrong with this model. If you are like me, not wanting to spend thousands on an acoustic guitar, but wants to own a solid, good brand at an affordable price, give it a go. ROCK ON!!

Comments about Alvarez Artist Series AG60CE Grand Auditorium Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I ordered on Thursday night, recieved Tuesday with the free shipping. Thanks! I have a 1979 model upper end Alverez with factory pick up at the base of the neck and fairly rare. I have loved this gutiar but finally wanted an acoustic that sounds like an acoustic in stead of an electric when plugged in. Only complaint out of box, the stock string noise when moving fingers up and down the board. I replaced with medium light Elixer exp coated, and became impressed. I wanted a wider neck as this for finger picking. Unplugged, I cant ask for more. Plugged in, it sounds good, after I fiddled with the two pickup balancing and equalizer. Nice touch on the tuner cuting out the amp when tuning! When strumming or chording and playing with pick, all sounds balanced. When classical finger picking the lighter strings are a bit overwhelmed by the heaveier strings, but can be compensated by changing the two pickup balance. I am not familiar the regular cord plug, and the microphone plug right next to it. Does this plug in to a p.a. system? Does it use phantom 48 volt power or standard? There is no book that came with the electronics and I havent found it yet on the web site.. My friends are impressed, giving new gutiar fever to one. This alverze is an improvement in some ways over the first Alverez in tone quality, electronics and beauty. The 79 had a quicker thinner faster neck rivaling any qutiar I have ever played and I have played and owned quite a few.. But then, this one sounds and plays finger style like I want, and sounds acoustic.

        More Than Expected

Comments about Alvarez Artist Series AG60CE Grand Auditorium Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I usually don't write reviews for products, but considering how little reviews there are for this guitar I figured to give it a go. Been playing guitar for just shy of 10 years, haven't really been an acoustic player but to my ears this guitar is well rounded. its got a good mid range punch, but it is very balanced. it does seem a little harsh in tone when compared to my buddys Yamaha dreadnaught's warm tone, it may be just because the strings haven't been broken in or the guitar itself hasn't been broken in. though they are completely different guitars. it did need a little truss rod set up out of the box to reduce some string rattle but after that its playing like a champ.

the fretboard could be a little bit smoother but for the price of this guitar I cannot complain. the wide neck makes fretting chords and fingerpicking a breeze.

overall this is a great guitar with great value.
