    Alvarez

A redefined entry level guitar with full-scale neck, spruce top, and mahogany back & sides.

The Alvarez RD16 Regent Series Dreadnought Acoustic is a serious guitar and constructed using many of the same components and techniques used in building their higher end instruments. It sounds and plays superbly well and is a classic looking Dreadnought.

The RD16 has a spruce top and mahogany back and sides, classic tone woods that generate a warm and well-balanced tone. Alvarez have made the neck profile on Regent Series a little finer so they're easier to play and every model is constructed using a dovetail neck joint that optimizes the transfer of energy between the neck and body.

All Regent Series instruments are fitted with the Alvarez bi-level bridge to carry more vibration to the top, which improves tone and resonance, and the PPS saddle and nut help to improve response and sustain.

This instrument has been finished using an electrostatic painting process for a more even finish that uses less paint in its application. This allows the guitar to sing a little more and it also looks fantastic.

Premium die cast tuners deliver tuning stability.

Comes with the Alvarez Limited Lifetime Warranty.

Comments about Alvarez RD16 Regent Series Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

This is a Great Guitar for the price. It smelt like Glue really bad when I first got it. But, I think that is common. I put some dryer sheets in it, and have been letting it air out. That should go away. But, the sound and quality of the wood and body were pretty good for the price. I like the guitar.

Comments about Alvarez RD16 Regent Series Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

This is not a bad guitar. Considering I got this for a hundred dolls, I'd say a steal. I was considering this against an Epiphone DR-100, and this is definitely better. You can tell it is a more expensive machine and the name is I'd say classier. Can't really go wrong with Made in Indonesia ;)
The only thing I have to say is that there is a slight buzz on the high E string. I thought it was because of the thicker gauge string, but when I converted to Extra Lights, it was still there. I don't think it's because I'm too weak since my other guitar is a 12 string, but maybe I am.
      All in all good purchase.

Comments about Alvarez RD16 Regent Series Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

Thanks to MF.com I got the restock brand new for a cheap bottom price. Good packing from Alvarez factory though, with all Warranty. Sound is liitle low but OK, keep in tune well. A little buzz from Fret 10th- D-scale pentatonic- but it is Ok for a cheap price which I can possibly afford the Alvarez.Neck is a bit rough I sanded with a 200 -grir paper @ the alloy fret strips- bottom side. Yet, Craftmanship of this RD16 -Regent is very good. I am very picky @ the Glossy coating : but Alas ! I cannot find any Flaw at all. So, go for it if you are the one in search for perfection like Me.. So long. up to you to decide!

Comments about Alvarez RD16 Regent Series Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

I have had this for months. The wood is beautiful, the tone is undeniably Alvarez. I wouldn't believe you if you told me how much I paid and didn't know what it cost. I had an Alvarez '76 for years. I love this as much, they both have great qualities. Bandmate had never heard or played Alvarez and fell instantly in love with it. I think he plays mine more than he than his electric. I am going to buy a couple more and hand them out as Christmas gifts this year.

His experience - player 20 years. Mine 32 years.

I've heard a few Alvarez's, in particular the Alvarez Jumbo, which got he hooked on the way Alvarez guitars sound. This guitar is no exception. It sounds rich, and beautiful! exactly what I had hoped for, and at a price I could not pass up! Thank you guys!

With the exception of rough fret material, this guitar offers amazing value for money.

A bit of 2000 grit sandpaper allows slides and bends.

Until now, I didn't realize anyone could deliver near pro quality for under a hundy. Amazing!

Comments about Alvarez RD16 Regent Series Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

This is the second Alvarez guitar that I've bought, and I paid more for my first one used than I paid for this one new. So I was pleasantly surprised when I took it out of the box and found that this is an excellent guitar, even for two or three times what I paid for it. The sound is rich and projects loudly and the action was perfect straight out of the box. It looks great, and I've been playing it for a couple of days now and it seems to stay in tune well. If I had to try to think of something negative, the stock strings that are on it sound a little jangly and like any other low end guitar the bridge pins are plastic, but both are easily and affordably fixable. Overall, you won't find a better guitar for the price.

Comments about Alvarez RD16 Regent Series Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

I cannot offer a fair review of the guitar, but I can offer a review of my experience with Musicians Friend. This guitar arrived with a large crack in the back of the neck, and there was no damage to the shipping container, indicating a clear quality control issue. When contacting MF, they offered a return shipping label, but would not do an exchange or timely refund. I have to ship it back, wait 3-5 days for the refund to process, then place another order and wait a week for it to arrive and hope it is in better shape. Ultimately I get to wait a full month to have a playable guitar. Did MF try to help me? No. Did they even apologize for the inconvenience? No. I will not be using them again - this is unacceptable in the age of e-commerce.
