I have owned two of these. I bought the first one in 2004 and I loved it until the day it was stolen. Never had any issues with it. I purchased another one in 2013, same model only different color and again, I loved this guitar out of the box. I got the second one in ruby red and I really like how it looks. Considering the price, I was again very pleased with the volume and quality of the sound. I own three other guitars, including an Ovation Celebrity CC24, and my little Applause AA13 is the one I pick up first because it is so comfortable and easy to play. I'm a big round-back, Ovation fan and I would recommend this guitar to anyone considering it. If anything happened to my second AA13, I would buy the same guitar even a third time.

The build quality is very nice, especially for the price, however there were some issues that caused me to return the guitar and look for something else. For one thing, the round back makes it very hard to hold the guitar. I had thought it would be comfortable, but the thing keeps slipping onto it's back, whether you're sitting or standing... which makes playing it rather difficult. The other issue was the tone... the highs were fairly clean and sharp but by the 4th string it became very muted and dull. When you get to the 5th and 6th strings, it sounds like it's under water... the tone is just so dull and lifeless. Perhaps different strings would help, but it looked to me like it already had a set of 80/20 bronze lights on it, and that's about the brightest kind of strings you can get. I've played other 3/4 guitars that sounded a lot better, and don't keep slipping on their backs... they may cost a little more, but are well worth it, all things considered...

Comments about Applause AA13 Minibowl Cutaway Acoustic Guitar:
The overall design of this guitar is what is really going for it. It is well-thought out and executed - no matter who made it or what specific materials were used - the design lets this guitar be a very useful and musical tool around the house. I keep this in the stair way of my garage area and use it to write when sitting around on a porch swing or garden bench, or even walking around the property when I let my sheep out to graze the hills. The short scale is great for playing and songwriting. It doesn't have the more $pricey sound of larger guitars, but it still has a sound of its own, and that's what counts. At this price, everyone should own one. If I lost this, I'd get another, pronto.

Comments about Applause AA13 Minibowl Cutaway Acoustic Guitar:
I purchased two of these guitars, one for my wife and one for my daughter (both learning to play guitar). I thought these would be great entry level guitars. I love the size of these guitars. Their small hands have no problems along the fretboard. However, after playing the guitar and tuning it for them, I was disappointed in the sound results and build quality. I researched for awhile and after the numerous positive reviews, I tried this guitar. I did not want a TOY GUITAR, I wanted a student guitar. What I ended up with was a very basic guitar that I believe is overpriced. The tuners are cheap, the saddle is cheap, and the fit and finish are that of a $50 guitar from Walmart. I purchased two of these guitars as gifts. I could understand if I received a lemon...but 2 lemons? Four years ago I purchased a Mitchell acoustic for $150 new. That guitar puts these Applause guitars to shame.
Comments about Applause AA13 Minibowl Cutaway Acoustic Guitar:
Fabulous travel guitar. It fits in airline overhead bins and takes bumping around without damage. I replaced the strings immediately and adjusted the truss rod a little to lower the action a tad. Have had it for 6 years and it is the one I grab if I am going anywhere.
Comments about Applause AA13 Minibowl Cutaway Acoustic Guitar:
I've owned this guitar for some years now, it has been dragged around, drop kicked, beat up and wet a number of times (Beer, water etc..). It plays just fine, the action is good and it stays in tune. It's sound for it's size is a seller!
Comments about Applause AA13 Minibowl Cutaway Acoustic Guitar:
I've had this little guy for a couple of years now. It's my outside/travel acoustic and I've been very happy with it. Unlike a previous reviewer I had no problem with the strings or set up right out of the box. IMHO you can't go wrong here in using it for either travel or as a junior.
Comments about Applause AA13 Minibowl Cutaway Acoustic Guitar:
Just got it and it's nice. Has a nice action, sounds great for a 3/4, a lot louder then I expected, almost as loud as my full size Yamaha. Intonation is right on, Ruby Red finish is flawless, binding is nice, over all it's an excellent guitar. Tuners aren't sealed like Grovers but you'd not expect it on a guitar in this price point. Makes me want to order a full size AA21 to go with it, if only MF would get em' in Ruby Red(hint, hint.) If you want a great little take along guitar that's pretty much weatherproof and at a great price this is the one you want.
