When I received this guitar it played excellent out of the box(after string change). It has a very versatile sound setup. Single coils for a stratocaster sound and a humbucker for a more intense sound. The stock pickups have excellent clean sound, but it loses some bite when it gets too distorted. And the tone pot was loose from the body so i just glued it down, but besides that it is excellent craftsmanship.
Though primarily a bass player i like to have a few guitars around to test my mod work on. When i came across this guitar i was a bit skeptical at first, but it has all the neccessary bells and whistles. Two single coils and a humbucker, is pretty good for the price, escpecially since it has a tremelo, a complete package excluding active electronics. Overall its a great beggining guitar, but advanced players would enjoy it as a jam/backup instrument. I use it for recording myself, but no doubt the more serious guitarists among you will have a more preffered instrument for gigs and studio work. For the money its great, and definitley beats guitars that are twice its price.
This is an incredibly well-built guitar. It played like a dream nearly right out of the box with a minimum of adjustment. It's a smooth-playing guitar with a well-engineered tremolo, solid composite-looking nut, and effective factory machine heads. Put a new set of strings on it and you're ready to go!
