B.C. Rich

A neck-through design with powerful sustain and explosive pickups make this Mockingbird scream.

Dark, sleek and sexy, this Mockingbird will drop jaws wherever you take it. A Shadow complexion contrasts with a gold TonePros and Grover Super Rotomatic tuners. EMG 81 (bridge) and 60 (neck) pickups provide the voice while a 24-5/8 inch scale and 24 jumbo frets on any ebony fingerboard provide the touch.

Neck-Through Construction
B.C. Rich is known as one of the pioneers in neck through construction. They use it on many of their guitars, because it provides the best possible sustain, resonance, comfort and access to higher frets. Neck-through has long been considered the premium construction method for high-end guitars. This construction starts with a long piece (or pieces) of premium North American maple. That piece runs from the tip of the headstock to the strap button on the opposite end of the guitar. This means that the headstock, fingerboard, pickups and bridge all are mounted to this single sound foundation. Sonically it is a difference you can hear. The neck-through construction also allows more of the body and neck to be cut away at the neck joint, which provides comfort no bolt-on or set-neck could offer. You will find the neck through feature on all top of the line B.C. Rich models.

EMG-81 (bridge position)
The EMG-81 is a high output pickup designed especially for the lead guitarist. The 81 is at its best for high volume overdrive and amps with a master volume. Whether you're playing power rock and roll, or overdriving your amp, there's a razor sharp attack, and incredible sustain for brilliant soloing. If you're looking for exceptional qualities in a rock pickup, the EMG-81 is the one.

EMG-60 (neck position)
While the EMG-60 humbucker still features the close aperture coils loaded with ceramic magnets for the brightest attack of any of EMG's many humbucking models, this pickup also packs plenty of output with both clarity and cut through high end. The EMG-60 guitar pickup is incredible for rhythm guitar as metal and extreme players have discovered.

With a distinctive tone for soloing, the 60 works perfectly as a clear, yet fat lead pickup. The resonance slope is steeper but the peak is higher than other EMG models. The EMG-60 pickup is the result of a lot of input from various people. It is probably the most versatile humbucking pickup EMG makes, but doesn't get the recognition it deserves.

Comments about B.C. Rich Pro X Mockingbird Electric Guitar:

I've always wanted a BC Rich Mockingbird. So, I'll admit that I'm biased on this review but.....
      Wow,
It came to me set up just fine. No adjustments necessary. Because of it's body design "thick and heavy" it really gives out some warm tones when playing in any pick up position. I bought the Black Cherry Burst and the color changes depending on the light it is in. The pearl inlays and surround is gorgeous, the tuner pegs are durable and some of the best out there. The EMG pick ups are exactly what you'd expect them to be and compliment the guitar well. I run mine through a Marshall half stack, and the guitar out gives a true professional sound. I have a Jackson Dinky with EMG's in it, and I can switch back and forth between the two guitars on my rig and make NO adjustments to eq or sound level without ever missing a beat.
The Floyd Rose tremolo does not go out of tune, no matter how much abuse you inflict on it.
The guitar is a champ, and I cant say enough about the EMG pickups. If you want a Mockingbird, do yourself a favor and save up for this combination. I am sure that this guitar with standard pickups, will not give you the satisfaction I just described.

Comments about B.C. Rich Pro X Mockingbird Electric Guitar:

When I first bought my Shadow Mockingbird Pro X with FR I knew I'd need a special case for my strangely shaped dream guitar. I bought the BC Rich Deluxe Gig Bag BCGBAG1 at MF and it certainly works great, but I feel it's too big for my tastes. I found "RoadRunner Roadster Electric E Guitar Gig Bag" at MF is a much better fit with more handles, many more pockets, and shoulder straps.

Comments about B.C. Rich Pro X Mockingbird Electric Guitar:

Between my 1975 Les Paul Custom, my recent Les Paul Special w/ebony FB & P90s, and my B.C. Rich ASM Pro I thought I had it all. But I realized my LPs have one thing my ASM Pro doesn't have... dedicated tone and volume controls.
I like to drastically change dynamics and my LPs can do that - smooth buttery jazz with the neck PU suddenly launching into gonzo freaked out rapid fire metal solos with the bridge PU. The ASM Pro is freakin awesome for metal, but it can't do Metal and the sweet jazz clean with a single set of controls..... but the Mockingbird can do all the LPs can do and more - it's an ASM Pro with LP dedicated controls!
Plus, the Mockingbird Pro X has an EMG 60 which can go from sweet buttery jazz clean to a perfect crunch while the ASM has the EMG 85 at the neck which, while great, never did a day of sweet clean in it's life.
The action, the wanginess of it's FR, the sound, and it's looks are all amazing. This guitar is a work of art and a master class in guitar artisanship. My Shadow Mockingbird Pro X from MF is my dream custom shop guitar come true. I can now say I have it all...

Comments about B.C. Rich Pro X Mockingbird Electric Guitar:

Much better quality than I expected. The fit / finish was excellent. The setup was great out of the box. I did set it up to my personal preferences but it was well done originally. It was my first active pickup guitar and I honestly expected to not like them and had been planning to change them. They sound great. I like vintage sounding alnico pickups but the EMGs really sounded good. My favorite guitars are more traditional Gibson, PRS USA, and Fender USA, but this Mockingbird ranks up there with them. I don't have anything bad to say about this guitar. I'm not a metal player and although BC Rich is usually seen as a metal guitar, this one sounds great for other stuff too.

Comments about B.C. Rich Pro X Mockingbird Electric Guitar:

Never owned a B.C Rich but when I came across the Mockingbird Pro X Black Burl the color was very appealing to me. Then I read the description of the guitar. I recall features that I as a kid could only dream of on a axe from the Ebony fretboard to the Original Floyd Rose and the EMG Pick-Ups. Personally I would prefer the 81 and 85 as to the 81-60 it came with. So I decided that I was going to purchase one as soon as I saved enough money but fellow musicians and shredders thanx to Musicians Friend they made it happen sooner then expected thanx to their Stupid deal.. Thank you Musicians Friend for the Stupid Deal of the Day.
