OVERVIEW

Traditional and beautifully appointed with a solid Canadian cedar top.

The Bedell Heritage HGM-17-G Orchestra Acoustic Guitar continues the tradition at Bedell for producing affordable and great-sounding guitars.

The HGM-17-G features a solid Canadian cedar top, perfect for strong volume and definition in the low, mid, and high tones. Visually, the warm amber-brown color of this wood creates a pleasing, mellow look. Bedell uses African sapele for the back and sides. This works well for an orchestra style guitar with a cedar top to generate a balanced tone with lots of texture.

Comments about Bedell Heritage HGM-17-G Orchestra Acoustic Guitar:

This was an incredible find for the price. I can comfortably take this guitar to various locations without having to worry about loss or damage. I prefer to leave the expensive ones at home. This guitar will be confused and mistaken for an expensive instrument. It has a great action and sound. Silk/phosphor strings work great with this guitar, while the original strings were not to my taste.

Comments about Bedell Heritage HGM-17-G Orchestra Acoustic Guitar:

When I first tried the Bedell guitars, I was very impressed. Unfortunately, they were retail-priced much too high for me, and my only hope of getting one was a contest, which I didn't win.

Skip forwards a few years: I had been looking around for a cedar-topped steel string, and saw this one on sale at MF. I recognized this one as the model that had most impressed me when I tried out the line, and ordered it that same day.

I have not been disappointed. The quality of construction is excellent, the neck is quite comfortable for a guitar of this size, and the solid cedar top has a tone quite different from all those generic spruce dreadnaughts on the market.

I am particularly pleased with the articulation, which lets each note in a chord or arpeggio ring out individually without any muddying. The stock strings are a bit bright for my taste, so I'm going to replace them with flat-wound ones as soon as these wear out.

Two friends who've heard the guitar were so impressed that they're both getting one for themselves!

Comments about Bedell Heritage HGM-17-G Orchestra Acoustic Guitar:

This little guitar is NICE! Gig bag is really nice! Fit and finish is first class. The guitar is really light in weight(not overbuilt). Projects well, sounds very good for a cedar top. I changed the strings to Martin FX's 52-11(personal preference)) and I will lower the bridge saddle and lower action a bit at the nut(personal preference). Buy you one before they are all gone!

Comments about Bedell Heritage HGM-17-G Orchestra Acoustic Guitar:

No question there are quality built guitars from China out there now. (I own a couple others such as The Loar LH-200 NA, and a Rodriguez Caballero 10 Classical guitar, both of which are great values at their respective sale price points. However when I opened this Bedell I was floored! The quality of fit and finish far surpasses any other guitar I've seen in this retail range. I've never seen the custom, Oregon made Bedell guitars in person, but this made in China Bedell Heritage blew me away with the sheer attention to detail of the fit and finish. Mine arrived in a totally gorgeous molded foam case that's too nice to be called a "gig bag" and with zero flaws. It was perfectly set up and 100% spot-on in tune right out of the box!! (It's easy to see how a trip thru the Oregon luthier's shop has benefitted this beauty. In fact, this may be the nicest guitar I've owned--almost too nice for me! The quality of fit and finish says "high end" and so does the sound. Intonation is right on and just a little "thicker" in the mids with the solid Cedar top, but still bright enough for my tastes. And I love the Orchestra shaped body which is easy to fold oneself around. The rosette and logo work on the headstock are a very simple, yet stunning display of marquetry which tells me that someone there has a true love for the art. Musician's Friend pricing was exceptional and with my "chat" salesperson getting me an even bigger discount than was promoted, this guitar was a real steal!! Since I actually got this one as a gift for my daughter, I've decided to order another, different Bedell for her, so we can swap out from time to time. This guitar is worth raging about! Buy it and you'll love it. Thanks, Bedell, for putting real quality into this price range and great job, Musician's Friend!
