Full range and plenty of projection in this dreadnought, built with quality American parts and featuring high-end L.R. Baggs electronics.
From Breedlove guitars comes a series that is 100% true-red-white-and-blue American. The American series guitars are built in Bend, Oregon using quality products made right in the USA”no parts or designs were shipped to other countries. These guitars represent the true American spirit, using quality parts and Breedlove's famous craftsmanship, producing guitars that will stand the test of time and look absolutely beautiful in the process.
Built on the popular dreadnought platform, the D25/SMe acoustic-electric guitar's large top and body depth creates a resonant chamber that focuses on bass response and tremendous volume. This design is ideal for ensemble playing and is the guitar of choice for flat pick players.
The solid Sitka spruce top and solid mahogany back and sides offer balanced, full-range tone with lots of clear projection. The Breedlove guitar's soft cutaway adds comfort for accessing the upper frets. The rosewood fingerboard, and the one-piece mahogany neck produce rich clarity from note to note. The D25/SMe's 25-1/2" scale, 1-3/4" nut width, and 16" radius offer comfort for intricate finger movements, and the gloss finish adds a high-end shine. The bridge truss system stiffens the bridge and relaxes the soundboard to maximize sustain and resonate freely. The rosewood pinless, winged bridge and scalloped bracing artfully balances string-to-top energy. These design elements yield abundant overtones, complexity, body resonance, and note-for-note swell ideal for creating natural effects, single note complexity, and orchestral chording.
At the heart of the Breedlove American D25/SMe is the L.R. Baggs Element Active VTC Pickups System, letting you amplify your guitar quickly and easily. The Element Active Volume and Tone control (VTC) pairs the Element under-saddle transducer with a pre-contoured all-discrete class-A endpin preamp, and includes a small, removable soundhole-mounted volume and tone control for added convenience and versatility. The entire system is designed to install easily and features plug-and-play performance.
All Breedlove Custom Shop steel-string guitars (except for the Revival Series), Pro Series and Atlas Series guitars use the JLD Bridge Truss system. This device is a cantilevered truss that helps to counterbalance string tension at the bridge, creating a relaxed top and improved structural integrity. This allows the tops to be braced in a very progressive way, with a focus on realizing the full acoustic potential of the top. A relaxed top provides maximal wavelength response and a synergy is created by use of a graduated top thickness, balanced scalloped bracing, and a pinless bridge in combination with the bridge truss system. This gives Breedlove guitars the distinctive and highly dynamic "Breedlove Sound", with a piano-like bass and a remarkably well-balanced tone suitable for a broad variety of musical styles.
Other appointments on the Breedlove American guitar include black body binding, American abalone rosette, single-action soundhole adjustable truss rod, ebony pinless "winged" bridge with J.L.D. bridge truss system, scalloped bracing, one-piece mahogany neck, Breedlove pearl dot position markers, ivoroid heel cap, asymmetrical Breedlove headstock with rosewood overlay, and Gotoh 381 tuners.

I just received mine today. This is an outstanding value! The guitar is very well crafted, albeit, minimal appointments. However, the sound is all there! It is loud and full sounding. The highs are stellar. Very clear and pronounced with the midrange backing the highs. The bass is tight, not booming. For an all hardwood (no laminates) guitar, solid mahogany neck, and LR Braggs electronics (again minimal but totally functional). This guitar outperforms the D-18 or a 310 on up. After all, Kim Breedlove left Taylor to pursue his own tonal quest. By the way, Taylor's necks are 3 pieces of wood glued together. The Breedlove is a solid piece of mahogany. LIKE IT SHOULD BE!!! For its size, think of a loud D-18 with killer looks and one of the best hard-shell cases I have ever seen.
