Beautiful Guitar, Beautiful Price

By Rob

from Fullerton, Ca.

This 12 string is amazing. I actually bought one back in ( I think) 2006. It was whatever year that was that President Bush sent out those nice rebate checks to all us taxpayers. So I figured what the hell....I needed a new 12 string. I had recently smashed my old Ibanez 12 string (it was thoroughly warped) on Pete Townshend's birthday just for fun. So I went down and played every 12 string in the store and apart from one or two $3000 guitars...this sounded and felt almost just as good. Actually, I liked this one best to be honest. I've had it for a decade now and it's still perfect.

I have been playing guitar for over 30 years and I knew what I was looking for in a 12 string guitar. I compared these features before making a choice: Price, workmanship, action, tone, comfortable neck size, and looks. Thompson's are wonderful guitars, but pound for pound the AC 250SM 12 string wins out because of price, the action was identical, tone was outstaning in both, it was a no brainer for me. Takamine were also good, but the Breedlove won hands down again, why? because of overall features and price. I can play the AC 250 guitar for an hour straight with out getting "blisters on my fingers". Do yourself a favor and sample this guitar before making a purchase.

Great guitar

Been playing for years on many brands of guitars, this one is very comfortable to play and has a very balanced tone. Compared this one with a couple of Takamines, and other brands as well and this was the most pleasent to play. I originaly went to purchase a jumbo body 12 string for the projected volume they have, but none played like this Breedlove. So I sacrificed a little volume for playability. But plug it in to a good system and there's plenty of volume with still a great sound. So for lack of a Jumbo body Breedlove available at the time of purchase, I gave the features a 9. Other than that it's a great 12 string well worth the price!

Amazing sound!

I was looking for a 12 string acoustic electric and found this beauty. Granted, it's made in Korea, but it beats the pants off of any of the other guitars in this price range. The sound is full and bright (but not annoyingly bright), and the action is really nice. The guitar frets better than similar 12 strings in the price range - indeed, you have to add a grand your budget to get a better feeling guitar. This is an excellent guitar, and nails the feel I was looking for.

I am starting to lead worship and really wanted the full bodied sound of a 12str. This is a quality instrument with incredible tone. I tried takamine, lower end martins, taylors, the breedlove guitar far surpassed all others under 1000.00 dollars in quality and tone. Many guitars I played sounded ok but kind of tinnie unamplified. This breedlove unamplified as well as amplified gave a good balance tone crisp and clear. Open chords sound astounding. No suprises when you plug it in, sounds very natural and the eq although not top notch balances things very well probably because the overall tone quality reaching the pickup is very good. I obviously do not like the factory set-up (I never do with off the shelf guitars)I expect my setup to un problematic as it always is. Action is my worst complaint, however, I do not want to lower it too much or I feel I will loose the awesome tone. I don't plan to play lead up the neck much so it is really a non issue. This is my first and probabably only 12 and if lost or stolen I would buy again in a heartbeat. You will enjoy just sitting and playing for hours with this quality instrument.

My Best 12 String!

Wow just got this today! Bought a 2nd but can't find any flaws in it. I had to lower the action but what a beautiful guitar! The lows are spine chilling! The crisp sound of the fishman electronics are hair raising! This plays and sounds better than some mid level Taylos and Martins at half the price. A very light and little guitar with an amazing punch! You go Breedlove!

Amazing guitar!!!

I recently purchased a Breedlove Atlas AC250. I played on several different guitars, including a Taylor 454ce, Takamine EG523SC12, and Martin J12-16GT, and was most impressed by the Breedlove. I went with the intentions of purchasing a Taylor, but left the store with the Breedlove. Hands down one of the best playing/sounding 12 string guitars: especially for the price!

Finger-picking good

By Alamo Slim

from Salem, Ore.

I've been working my way up the 12-string ladder for almost 40 years -- a half-dozen of them, each one better than the last. The Breedlove Atlas AC250/SM-12 is my next-to-the-last stop. I dreamed of and tried out "affordable" Martins and Taylors, then a couple of years ago, I visited Breedlove's factory in Tumalo, Ore., where I test-drove the tippy-top model. Exquisite sound, dazzling looks. The only thing the $10,000 guitar has over the Atlas model is the looks. So until I can afford the myrtlewood baby, I am tickled to death to play this "junior" Breedlove. Whether I'm finger-picking a worship song or strumming jazz chords or pounding out bluegrass, this 12 is up to it. I could play for hours -- and often do. Set-up from the retailer was smack-on; Grover tuners are a dream to work with; Fishman electronics deliver that sparkling acoustic sound through my Behringer mixer/Kustom speaker setup. Whether worshiping -- or wooing the Missus -- I've got an armful of class that I hope lasts me the rest of my life. With the sound and playability ofthis Breedlove Atlas, I can live without myrtlewood.

bang for the buck

Went looking for a Takamine EF341 to go with my EF381 12 string, and ended up with a 2nd 12 string instead. The action is very low and plays as easy as any 12 string 3 times it's price. The concert series doesn't project as well as the Dreadnaught and Jumbo, but don't fault it for being what it is. It sounds great unplugged but comes alive when plugged in. It plays like a dream. I have since added a 6 string Dreadnaught since I liked this one so well. Compare it to a Taylor 12 in the $1500-2000 dollar range and it will pass the test with flying colors!

The action is like nothing I have ever experienced. While I am not a professional guitar player, I have been playing all my life - for pleasure. This guitar has changed everything. Plugged or unplugged.... Amazing. Now, I WANT to form a band, and feel that this instrument is capable of maybe, more than I am..! lol ---Highly recommended.

I'd been searching for a replacement to some stolen guitars and encountered the Breedlove by accident. I fell in love and purchased it on the spot. It has replaced my Taylor 814 as my favorite. Beautiful sound, extremely playable and a steal at the $ range.

You are going to be amazed at the tone and volume this little guy has. I have had Ovations, higher end Washburns, and Guilds that dont tone and playability this guitar has. My wife bought this one for me on my birthday and after three years of waiting, I say it is well worth the wait and the money. Plays like a Taylor or Martin and doesnt come close to the $$ you would pay for their equivalent models.

I recently purchased a Breedlove Atlas AC250 12 string. I was amazed at its tone and playability. I just got it last week-end and have played it everyday since. I have a 6 String Breedlove, AC-25SR+, and was disappointed that it needed a fretdress before I could really play it like I wanted. With that experience behind me I was a little skeptical of getting another Breedlove. I checked the neck and played it for a while and found the action to be very very nice. The smaller AC body it very comfortable for my 5'2" frame and the sound is so smooth. All of the strings were perfect together, none trying to take the lime light from the other. I love this guitar. It is my second 12-string and has found a place on my all-time favorites list.
