Comments about Breedlove Atlas Revival OM/ERe Ab Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

This guitar is really awesome for the price, and the sound projection and clarity is song inspiring. Open chord voicings are just lingering and beautiful to listen to. The sound is crisp and powerful, and very articulate. Dont be afraid of it being Handcrafted in Korea, they really hit a homerun for the price. There are a couple little imperfections like a couple of white spots of paint or something else on the underside of the fretboard near the soundhole, and another similiar white dot higher up on the fretboard. These spots seem like a little paint or glue that did not get spotted, but they are the slightly bigger than a grain of sand, and they dont bother me. They can be easily buffed out or easily carefully scratched off. Ive had it a few weeks and Ive already put 50-60 hours on it. It really put a number on my fingers the first few days, but actually has improved my electric playing alot. It just sounds so full and rich, I really love it. Its harder to play then the Taylor I used to have but sounds way better. Great for strumming, fingerstyle, blues, everything, well maybe not bluegrass. Hendrix and Vai style chord voicings are just wonderful sounding. Sad to hear they will be discontinuing this model, but glad I got one before that happened.

Comments about Breedlove Atlas Revival OM/ERe Ab Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

This is a well made instrument with a beautiful tone. Clean bass and midrange tones; the trebble is bright without being "tinny". Big volume without getting muddy. Holds it's tuning very well. Tuning machines are firm without being tough.

Fit and finish on my example are excellent. The Abalone inlays are beautiful against the very blonde top, and the dark sides and back offer a great contrast.

The on-bord electronics are good, not great. I don't notice a big impact wtih the EQ settings, but I typically mike the soundhole instead of playing through an amp. The on-board tuner is a great feature that I wish was included on all guitars.

You can find better acoustics at a much higher cost, but if your budget is the sub fifteen hundred range this is one of the best.

Comments about Breedlove Atlas Revival OM/ERe Ab Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

So...I got my replacement OM. First thing I notice visually is the white Engelmann spruce top had some runout. Removed it from the deluxe velvet hardshell case, did a quick tune and strummed a few chords...WOW stunning tone, clear, balanced, defined and very aged sounding. I immediately got over the look of the top. As I have had it a month or so and it has "really" opened up. This OM holds its own in volume easily with the dreads (I have several). However it's tone is so well balanced it makes my other dreads seem bass heavy and lacking midrange and treble sparkle. (Martin J45 Reissue, Martin D-18 GE and Bedell rosewood 28). Playing in the key of C, the notes sparkle...midrange is nicely pronounced. Bass is tight, clear and loud. The traits of Engelmann can be overdriven if pounded too hard. Although it reacts clearly and quickly to any attack if processed with fineness. Projection is targeted and cutting. I cannot emphasize the sparkling bell tone with big bass and well rounded midrange. This guitars tone is in one word spectacular and in my music circles always solicits compliments. Interior work is a tad sloppy, not bad but some glue drips here and there. Open back Grovers are nice and have a fine tune ratio. Two of the 6 bridge pin holes are too small and need to be reamed a bit. Oddly there is a hidden bolting the bridge to the top through the bridge plate, (probably due to Englemann's softness). Action is pretty fine. I had to loosen the truss rod a tad as the neck was too straight upon arrival here in NC's mountain humidity zone. The top is pretty thick as opposed to Sitka which shows me that the builder had knowledge enough to know that this species of white spruces are a bit weaker than Sitka or Adirondack. The top shows bracing imprints. The guitar is pretty heavy which surprises me considering to volume and clarity it emits (partly due to electronics). Finally the fret work is not the best for a guitar at this price point. Neck has a slightly weird taper IMO. At 1" 11/16" narrow nut width it appears to get pretty wide and chunky up towards the 12th and above. Nothing major just feels a bit odd for such a narrow nut width (wide string spacing @ bridge). I will probably get use to it...?
Bottom line...the tone of this example is superb, set up was good, finish is excellent, Abalone is of excellent grade, very colorful and a sign of high quality...I cannot reiterate enough about the superior tone from this Asian beauty. Engelmann spruce is scarce and trees are small and twisty, but this one proves a top with a touch of runout can be non-effectual to tone in an acoustic guitar. I often get "wow that guitar has some volume for it's size". I did put a clear pick-guard on it because I do use both flat and finger picks and play fairly percussively. This has become one of my favorites for recording and live work, Playing through a JBL PA and or a Fender Acoustisonic 150. Let me say thank you to Musicians Friend for their expertise and professional response to all my communication. Great online music store!

Comments about Breedlove Atlas Revival OM/ERe Ab Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I honestly could not be happier with this guitar, it sounds as good as any martin or Taylor out there. Asthetically it is gorgeous, although as the previous buyer wrote, she is a blonde! The Mother of pearl Inlays throughout add to the natural beauty fo the wood and when you open the box for the first time the smells of fresh rich Mohagany, Spruce and Rosewoodis always nice! As far as sound, I have been playing for 15 years and have played Goodalls (best guitars in history), Martin D-35's, D,28's, Taylor 615e's, and the Gibson Songbird... I am here to tell you that this guitar comes EXTREMELY close to matching any of those names! And for the price musicians friend is selling it for it would be a travesty throw away money on anything else.

This has more presence and Volume than most D-28's i've played, NO JOKE! It has a perfectly balanced, crisp tone and feather light playability. I can not say enough about this guitar... it's an AMAZING deal and I would put it up against ANY guitar 5 times the price! Also the case is awesome, fits the guitar precisely, it's beautiful and is built tough! Thanks Breedlove and Musicians friend for BY FAR the best deal i've ever had when buying a guitar, and i've had MANY guitars over 15 years of playing!

My only complaint is TRY TO BE HOME THE DAY OF DELIVERY. If you are not at home, UPS will leave your brand new guitar labeled "Breedlove" in giant letters on your doorstep for anyone to walk up and take.

What a deal! At this price you cannot go wrong. This is the Orchestra body I wanted with a superior sound and a built-in tuner and EQ for easy connection to the sound system for my gigs. I wish it came in a darker finish, but everybody has to have at least one 'blond' I suppose :)

Comments about Breedlove Atlas Revival OM/ERe Ab Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

At this point and time I cannot review my purchased as this guitar arrive smashed (obviously UPS, careless handling). Top was cracked, binding was separated and sides near tailblock cracked. It took a hard hit apparently as the excellent hardshell case showed a hit on the back edge of the lid. It was not really boxed very well though I must say. It was returned to MF....awaiting a replacement. SO we will see and I will report back as soon as a replacement arrives. MF has been great and receiving the broken guitar has been through no fault of Musicians Friend. I have purchased many guitars over the years from MF and this is the first ever I have received with a problem.
