Comments about Breedlove Atlas Series Stage J350/EFe Jumbo Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

          Awesome.

Was level 2 which means it had been slightly used, but with no issues or very noticeable cosmetic damage. They said the pickguard had scratches on it, but they're barely noticeable. The guitar looks brand new and plays like a dream.

Was looking for a big guitar with lots of sound and low-end. This certainly delivers the deep rich and warm tone I was after while maintaining a beautiful sparkle on higher notes.

Guitar came well packaged and in a Gator hard shell case (not the original Breedlove case). The case looks just as solid and I've had a good experience with the company's cases so far.

Guitar was set up nicely out of the box. Just as playable as any Taylor guitars I've played in the past. Breedlove does a set-up with these when they arrive.

Despite the big body, I find it's easy to play as the size of this guitar expands mostly at the bout. Very nice neck that I can actually capo up until the 12th fret if need be without pulling it out of tune!

Very playable and comfortable action. It had just a bit of neck relief which was enough to maintain a nice tone and sustain while strumming hard without fretting out (I like to play soft and hard).

          Anyways...

I can't explain how nice this guitar sounds via the interwebs, so I'll say with this: I was hesitant to buy online, but did a lot of research first while playing lots of other guitars. People like different sounds, so go try out a bunch and find your tone. I was incredibly lucky to find this beauty. After the Taylors Gibsons and Martins didn't do it for me--and were quite expensive--I lucked out with Breedlove. Those other guitars were great, I just couldn't find the tone I was after (the jumbo body really helps deliver bass tones I wanted especially in drop tuning).

Craftsmanship is beautiful on this guitar. No structural issues (no buzzing etc.) and the pickup/preamp/tuner is great--very accurate, very nice sound to work with on stage.

Strung it up with medium strings and adjusted the guitar accordingly (didn't need much, but if you're not familiar with setting up a guitar, find someone who is that can help you!) I've already gigged with it a few times and it has held up well (playing six-eight hours a day). Intonation has been great right up the neck.

No nut/saddle binding and the string through the bridge is quite handy--no pins! Just give the new strings a bit of a bend upwards when stringing it if you're having problems getting them through, super easy. Grover Tuners keep this thing in great tune despite how hard I am on the strings with lots of bends and hard strumming. Best tuners I've used

Take care of you equipment and it'll be good to you. I've been a singer songwriter for a few years and also like to air tap fingerstyle (Justin King, Andy Mckee) and this guitar sounds great for it. Love the harmonic overtones in this big body!

I suggest getting a hygrometer and humidifier and/or dry packs if you live in a climate that needs them. Don't want that solid top to crack or swell! 20-21 degrees C with humidity at 45-55% is where this wants to be.

          Finally...

MF was great in communicating with me and answering all my questions quickly. They honoured an expired coupon for fifteen percent off which I was very grateful for. Guitar took about two and a half weeks to get to me after ordering--I live in Canada.

All guitars are different! If you don't know what to look for when you get a new instrument, find someone who does! It might save you a few if you have a small issue with neck relief or something.

Thanks for everything! Very good first time experience with MF!

I've owned many a high end guitars over the years but this one beats them all. For the price you'll not find a better sounding guitar. The real problem I have is when plugged in I have to turn it all the way up and then turn my amp up a notch or two. Other than that this guitar is perfect. The sound is so natural, not to bright, really it's just right. The neck is smooth and fast, I forget I'm playing a Acoustic. Craftsmanship is right on,very professional looking. Musicians Friend delivered on time and you can not beat the price. Lovely sounding and a lot of fun to play. I am very happy I bought it.

Comments about Breedlove Atlas Series Stage J350/EFe Jumbo Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I am a full time musician and originally went looking for a good quality work-horse kind of acoustic to use as an on-stage backup to my Taylor. I first heard/saw a J350 being played by another musician and loved the way it sounded. After a closer look at it, I decided to give it a try.

I liked it so much, I bought a second one and now have two J350's on stage.

I still love my high end Taylor, but I was never comfortable putting it through the rigors of constant gigging. To me, this model of Breedlove is the closest thing I found to the quality of the Taylor, without breaking the bank.

The electronics are top notch. It arrives with some set up, though I do have my guy finish it to my specifications and it plays like a dream.

My only real complaint is I wish this model had more color choices.

For the serious musician looking to get great quality at an affordable price, this guitar would be hard to beat.

Comments about Breedlove Atlas Series Stage J350/EFe Jumbo Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I have only had one other acoustic which was a mid-level Seagull coastline,so I'm making my comparisons from owning that guitar and I have played every acoustic inside the guitar center acoustic room including Martins,Taylor,Breedloves,Seagulls,Epiphone and Gibsons.

So right off the bat my Breedlove jumbo feels big and awesome and projects lots of sound but is not uncomfortable to play, my seagull was a dreadnaught and that guitar was hard to play compared to the Breedlove. I love that the breedlove has the cutaway at the 12th fret and a built in tuner/eq/preamp. I was only looking for a nice plain acoustic and never realized that was included until after I played the guitar for about 20 minutes and decided I was taking her home.

The neck is a perfect size I don't know the exact detail but feel's perfect not to big or to small, the neck on my seagull was to big and wide, that was the only reason I went back and traded it.

So the Breedlove atlas i own now has a lovely tone and is the kind of acoustic where you can actually play lead and do nice acoustic runs on it. Once it's setup by a pro luthier your not going to be able to put it down. The guitar is wonderful for chording and fingerstyle as well. I would say the guitar came from the factory at a 9/10 for setup and play-ability, I'm just picky and like my action as low as I can without it buzzing. I play more electric so I got to get my fingers strong enough to do some of the music I like to play on an acoustic.

I watched a really accomplished player do a number on this guitar I own and he was getting harmonics I had no idea lived on that fret board, so this Breedlove is totally capable if you are an accomplished player of doing all that fancy candyrat label music like Andy Mckee

The frets are nice and big, bone nut, really nice solid tuners. The little gizmo that slips into the sound hole to stop feedback really makes the guitar look even cooler. This brings me to the look's, I was going for an acoustic that was no frills just a good player, I have always stayed away from acoustics because they were to hard to play for me but this one is not like that and the look's are amazing.

I didn't notice when I was demoing the guitar but when I got home I seen all the binding in abalone around the whole guitar, and gorgeous fret markers in mother of pearl, the wood has the craziest flame I've ever seen on a guitar, unreal looking. I wasn't crazy about the head stock shape but now that has even grown on me.

So in wrapping up this guitar review not only are the looks amazing but the guitar sound's the part and can play all the different genres of music out there, from the Beatles to Everlast and Neil Young and so many more,I'm drawing a huge blank but it can pull off any tone you need.

I would recommend this in a second and it comes with the most gorgeous case I have ever seen, absolutely amazing and so sturdy. Buy this now or the model that took it's place. Heck buy what ever Breedlove you can afford, She knows what she is doing when it come's to building acoustic guitars.

Bought this Guitar as a Birthday present for myself. Man was it the right choice! I have only been playing (taking lessons) for just under a year, but have been really working had at it. I have literally tried dozens of acoustic guitars in ranges from a few hundered all the way up to the expensive Taylors and Martins in the thousands range.

It is absolutely georgeous! and the sound is crisp, loud and clear...great range of highs, lows and mids. The thing that I can really apprecaite is, that because I am a novice guitar player, the easier the guitar plays, the more I play/practice, sometimes I don't want to put it away (drives my wife crazy). The more I play, the better I get and even my wife and son have notice a huge improvement in my playing.

The one thing I noticed on this website, the LR Baggs Pre-amp/Tuner is considerablb different than the one shown in the picture.

For the price, this guitar cannot be beaten! All of my friends who have been playing for years, are envious and love the way it plays and sounds.

I just received my second Breedlove after the 1st one had very high action near the bridge/saddle. Believe it or not the 1st one MF sent was a refurb! (I didn't buy a refurb, nor do I want one) The second didn't appear to be a refurb, but the action was too high. Apparently it had "swelled" during storage. Breedlove has an excellent customer service rep and they will be taking care of the guitar, with replacement and free pro set up. It will be very hard for me to buy another guitar from MF, as this is my 3rd one within a year with structural issues.
