Comments about Charvel San Dimas SD1- HS Electric Guitar:

This guitar came needing a setup pretty badly out of the box. This wasn't a big deal, though, since I wouldn't have kept the .09s on there anyway. But herein lies the main issue with this guitar—removing the neck is necessary to adjust the truss rod. This forces you to have to guesstimate where you should put it and hope you got it right. Otherwise, you're back to taking the neck off again.

After setup, this thing plays great. Super easy to play. Basic guitar with basic features, but if you are thinking about buying it, that's what you want. I own a Japanese Charvel from a few years back, and I won't lie, it's quality was a little better overall, but this one is not bad. Fretwork wasn't as precise on this one. Regardless, this is a good sounding and playing guitar. It's perfect for gigs because I don't really have to worry about something happening to it.

Comments about Charvel San Dimas SD1- HS Electric Guitar:

I owned this in white. The pickups were amazing. One pot resistance made it scream 80's tone. Neck comfortable with finished edges and fretwork.

It was merely a question of value. Strat body, bolt-on, minimalism for this much? Fully loaded Strat from same factory is about WAY less. Stripped down with upgraded pickups does not equal over 50% price increase.

My American made custom with neck-through construction cost me the same as this one did. After tour was over this was not worth keeping in the rack when I could get another custom for same price. So off to the shop it went.

Not that it is a bad guitar at all, just nowhere near worth it. Wasted money.

Comments about Charvel San Dimas SD1- HS Electric Guitar:

Knowing that production shifted from MIJ to MIM, I was not disappointed. I have several Charvels that were MIJ and this guitar has lived up to the hype. It's my first Charvel hard tail. I can't put this guitar down. Flawless construction and neck is as comfortable like any other Charvel. SD JB and Stack plus give virtually all varieties of tone. Hard to find guitars today with the double bridge and single neck PUP combo. I adjusted the action lower and dropped the tuning to D. The Charvel labled tuners hold the tuning and the fact that the are not groover is a non- issue.. No case either but how many cases do you really need. Snow White option looks great!
