I recently found myself in need of a classical guitar. Having 25 years of experience buying and playing guitars I decided since I am intending to become a serious classical guitarist I wasn't going to go cheap I am just always disappointed when I do. So I took a chance did a little research and decided this was the nicest classical guitar in my price range. Since then I have had a chance to play a couple real custom made classical guitars and I found this Cordoba to be no different than the 12 thousand dollar custom guitar my instructor had made. To put it simply this guitar came to me practically flawless the wood is gorgeous the sound is just as nice as any I have heard and better than most and the Humicase fits perfectly. Thank you Cordoba. I couldn't be more happy with this guitar its fantastic.

I was excited to find the box on my porch. Opening it, the first thing was a beautiful case.Inside, the guitar was just gorgeous, blond streak down the center, ebony fret board, the rosette - wow, the wood binding and purfling are well done and beautiful. The B Band electrics are the way to go. All the other undersaddle pickups and over-large preamps can't compare. Amped, the sound is rich, not plinky like other piezos. Playability is okay. I like the frets but they are not smoothed on the edges, and can tear up your fingers on slides, and the action is a little high. Still, no buzz, good neck, not bad. Looking inside killed the deal for me and I will be sending it back. The kerfing is very thin flat wood. No sawn strips to hold the back to the sides. And around one inside curve, on the small bout, the strip was over stressed and breaking on the outside. The verticle braces on the sides are like scrap wood, uneven pieces, poorly joined. The glue is, can this be true, sure looks like hot-glue leaking out of all the braces. Hand made, by whom? And so, unamped, this guitar is soft spoken, humble and dull. I will keep looking for a guitar in this price range that sounds good both amped and unamped. In the end looks are only a luxury. If you want a gorgeous, poorly put together, dull voiced guitar -- this is your baby. I'm waiting for the Alvarez Masterworks classicals . Wish it had the great B Band electronics, instead of that giant pre-amp. Is there nobody who puts it all together in this price range?

    Improved intonation and tuning

    By DonLovesGreatAcousticGuitars

    from Indiananpolis

Great sound live and plugged in, but, required some setup work. I adjusted bridge height to drop the stings closer. The intonation & tuning kept slipping, and I found the nylon strings slip on the bridge, so I notched them with a round tapered file, to drop the strings into a slot. The guitar sounds 100x times better and now, stays in tune, intonation perfect and the sound is crisp. I would rate it a 5 Now. If you buy it, make sure they adjust the action, and , slot the bridge to lock the strings firmly in location and relieve the back side to improve the string life!

    Just Beautiful

    By Specht

    from Derwood, MD

This guitar can make the worst songs sound gorgeous. While just the image of this koa beauty is astounding the playability and tone is there to match. The electronics are suprisingly clear and crisp when set the right way. If there is any guitar out there where you really get your bang for your buck, this is the one.

I've very satisfied with the guitar. its a beautiful guitar, sounds great, feels nice. my only comment regarding possible improvements would be the intonation. It could be slightly better.

I have owned several classical guitars and this by far is the most beautiful looking and sounding I've owned. It has a very mellow and rich sound. I never have liked playing the norm. This guitar is way beyond the norm!

    Need Small Adjustments

    By guitarromania

    from Gainesville, Fl

I just received the Cordoba Koa CE Classical Acoustic-Electric Guitar. I like the "look" and for a thinner body it feels close to a traditional classical guitar. I replaced the strings immediately with a higher gage, which has given more punch to its sound. It is sad to say that the company could used bone for the saddle, instead of plastic. After replacing the sound improved substantially. I am hoping to replace the nut with as well. The guitar plays soft and easy. If you are looking for a second instrument for fun or small performances this guitar should be okay. If you are a professional looking to play standard classical repertoire, you might want to consider a higher level instrument. I believe the sound will open with time and it will project a bit more.

a beauty to look at and play

I loved this guitar when I first picked it up. It took me an hour to leave it and the next week it was at my door. It has a nice round feel to it and the resonance is good amp'd or not. You can tell the guitar is truly handmade; you can see some of the little dips in the varnish, but it doesnt really take away from the value and feel of this guitar. It would have been nice if they would have at least put pearl fret dots on the top ridge of the neck. That is my only complaint. Mine came with the case and its worth every penny. Buy it.

    a fine guitar

    By DayDreamer

    from Columbus Ohio

I've checked out a handful of acoustic-electric classical guitars, but this is the one I'm keeping. It combines a warm tone with really nice electronics and a decent feel. I play better on this one than I do on my non-acoustic classical, in fact. I think you can certainly find a better guitar, but you'll probably be spending a lot more money to do it.

    Cordoba Koa classical

    By Jake da Snake

I just got it today and I love it. The Koa is beautiful, and each guitar has it's own unique grain pattern as it is hand made. Mine has a blonde streak down the middle. The sound is good and will no doubt get better over time. The action is good as is, and the saddle has plenty of room to lower even more if preferred. I definitely would recommend buying this guitar. For the price, it's worth it. It's not a Taylor, but comes close and for $$$ less.
