I like many other found the unplugged / acoustic tone to be surprisingly good, even with the odd bridge & saddle design and construction. The amplified sound from the mag pickup is sweet and punchy. The piezo pickup is to boomy for use other than to blend .. they do blend well at about 75% plus on the mag PU. Construction , feel, and looks are nice..I have the tobacco finish...About the bridge....it can be adj for height but it sits on the soundboard by the 3 screws that adj. the height, not much contact there.....the saddle , well it's metal and with no string slots the e & B strings tend to slide on the saddle.....My intention was to make some slots/groves of my own but decided to go the way of a new bridge / saddle (rosewood) that will also be adjustable and sit flat on the soundboard for more contact , and I'll see how that sounds....If that doesn't do the trick for the piezo PU I will reposition or replace the sensor(s) I will be posting my findings and installation of the new bridge n saddle on my YouTube page when it comes in, and I find the time to do the mod.

More electric than acoustic

Did a show for a small Vets group with this one: barre chords are fun to play on this-single lines & "cowboy chords" not so much... Neck seems like 3/4 size

Comments about Danelectro Convertible Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

This most recent incarnation of the Danelectro Convertible is by far the company's best. It has a great and surprisingly loud sound when playing acoustically; while amplified, it has even greater versatility. The Piezo and 56' Lipstick pickups definitely give the guitar a very unique sound - the guitar sounds great with pretty much all styles of music (I went from playing Radiohead to Johnny Cash with very few adjustments).

I'd recommend this guitar to anyone who likes a jack-of-all trades instrument.

Comments about Danelectro Convertible Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

The finish, neck, fretwork, and sound of this lastest incarnation of the Convertible is the best ever. The guitar is just sterling with sound to match. Louder and clearer than the last generation, its play is as lovely as its tone.

Comments about Danelectro Convertible Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Well, the only and huge problem for me is the bridge design. Bridge moves easily while i play so i lose the intonation oftenly. And it buzzes because of the fret wire. I think I'll need to take this guitar to a luthier to fix the bridge.
This guitar has a great neck. Action is perfectly set up. Its so easy and fun to play.
And I love its sound. I'll ty this with acoustic strings as well, i guess it will give more acoustic tone but i'll have to set up the neck action again though.
I hope ill be happy to have this guitar after i fix this bridge problem.

Comments about Danelectro Convertible Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Love this guitar. I am a huge critic of product quality and don't say good things often about products but this one is a beast. I play all genres from soft blues to prog metal and this can do it all.

Acoustic - The sound isn't too loud but it is definitely loud enough to be heard. The Masonite body makes it slightly louder than average compensating for the size. Great sound for playing around bonfires or just trying to find a lick.

Electric - The pickups are awesome. The lipstick is great for full body sounds and getting nice lows while the piezo really brings out the high end. If using distortion it is difficult to use the piezo as it is a high gain single coil and you will get a lot of feedback even with a noisegate. Luckily the lipstick has such great tone on the high end as well that you can play some really crunchy stuff with only one single coil lipstick.

Negative - The only thing I could find is that the bridge on this guitar is a piece of rosewood with a fret across it and the fret I was shipped has some burring so whenever I do bends you can hear the strings moving on the bridge with a loud tick. When plugged into an amp you cant really tell but you can hear it acoustically. Could be fixed easily with some nut grease or possible filing.

Comments about Danelectro Convertible Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

The guitar is great; light, plays great and looks great. I was a bit disappointed with the sound. The blend knob for the lipstick pickup and the piezo pickup doesn't seem to change the tone much. I tried it through both an electric amp and an acoustic amp with the same result. That's why I knocked it down to 4 stars.

Comments about Danelectro Convertible Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

The Danelectro Convertible reissue is a great instrument at what seems like a reasonable price point. Among other guitars, I have a mid-1990's Danelectro U2 reissue and have always love the neck shape and overall feel. I was interested in a new guitar with a richer, more acoustic electric tone and this one fits the bill. This guitar sounds exactly like the mid-2000 era JJ Cale sound, which I love, because this instrument is what he often played in that time period. The guitar plays great, sounds great, and I have not had any problems. One slight gripe is that the tone knob rolls up into higher treble tone very quickly, and since I prefer the tone rolled back quite a bit but not 100%, there is a very small "sweet spot" for me in the tone knob. I may replace the tone potentiometer in order to customize this to my particular taste.

Comments about Danelectro Convertible Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Unplugged, this guitar has an interesting shimmering tone. Of course it does not sound like a standard acoustic guitar but has its own voice. It sounds good playing older style music like folk, blues or even renaissance tunes. Volume is fine for practice.

Plug it in and it can get a pretty good acoustic-electric tone if you blend in the piezo a tad. Roll off the piezo and the lipstick pup can produce the dano tones similar to the non-acoustic models.

Really nice neck and fretwork! It actually was properly set up and just needed tuning to play out of the box.

I like this guitar because of it's unique sound and versatility.

You have to file grooves in the bridge wire, then, the strings will no longer slide from side to side.also, the pickup springs vibrate making noise. These problems are in Danelectros designs and can be adjusted.

Comments about Danelectro Convertible Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I play in an "electric/acoustic" duo. My partner is the "electric" half, while I generally play an acoustic guitar. I have a Gibson Songwriter, but rarely take it out in bad weather, so I bought a RainSong and absolutely love the way it plays. But for some of the harder rock songs we do, I wanted a guitar with an electric guitar feel, and this fills the bill. You can dial in some pretty sweet sounds between the piezo and lipstick pickups. The action ain't bad, but the frets are a little higher than I expected them to be. I play it through a Fishman Mini Loud Box with a Zoom A2.1u effects pedal.

                    Nice guitar, great deal.
