My main guitar! I have a Fender Jag custom. I go to my Dean custom zone first!
I bought this guitar in the nuclear green. I wanted something different that stood out and reflected my guitar playing skill. I've been playing for 15+ years... metal to country. I got the guitar and was amazed! The pic here does not do it justice. It's gorgeous! The pick ups were hot and it was set up perfect. Since then I've fully customized it with some vinyl work on the finish, hardtailed the bridge, and put a Seymour Duncan JB in the bridge. Get the guitar! You will not be sorry!!! I would say this is a pro quality guitar with a novice price!

This guitar needed a bit of work out of the box. I swapped out the muddy pickups for dimarzios (crunch lab bridge, evo neck) and had to adjust the truss rod and the intonation a bit. Once all that was sorted out I ended up with a real winner that's heaps of fun to play. The tone is sweet and would be even sweeter if I didn't replace the strings with orange DR neons. They look great great but the plastic coating seems to affect the sound a tiny bit. No biggy. Overall I'm very happy with this guitar now. You buy! You buy! or dont..

Great for the price

Comments about Dean Custom Zone Electric Guitar:

I havethe green veersion. I use it mainly at shows becaue it definitely adds some wow! The color looks way brighter in person. It also sounds amazing. Ive never heard such an inexpensive guitar sound so great with stock pickups. For the money, its an awesome buy. However, the quality looks a bit shoddy to me. The frets are a little sharp on the edges and it seems they have cut many corners with the overall quility of the axe. However, in this price range its not too big of a deal. Overall, a GREAT buy!

Comments about Dean Custom Zone Electric Guitar:

I love the matching body and fretboard, Neon finish looks killer. However.....this day-glo-demon will not stay in tune for a minute, and dear God... don't touch the trem bar.Perhaps a little graphite nut and slippery saddles might help.A Floyd set-up could help if you want to go the $$.

Daughter's first guitar

Comments about Dean Custom Zone Electric Guitar:

Bought one of these for my daughter for Christmas, a used one no less. It was a great deal at $160. It sounds good through a Fender Mustang amp. The only issue with it is the tuners aren't the greatest but at that price it's a small price to pay, plus she can learn to tune a guitar better that way. I've played it a little the pickups sound ok, not my cup of tea. It was a purchase I'm very happy with.

My Heart Breaker

By roxybaby89

Comments about Dean Custom Zone Electric Guitar:

I absolutely love this guitar! I named her heart breaker and I have it in pink. It looks much brighter in person than it is in its picture. My dad bought this guitar new for me, and I haven't had any problems with it so far.I also love this guitar because it's original. I personally don't know anybody with a pink electric guitar. I also put Black strings on it, so it looks awesome!Overall I'm very happy that this guitar is my first electric guitar.

Comments about Dean Custom Zone Electric Guitar:

This guitar is a pretty good buy, definately for the price. The pickups are pretty smooth, but not the best. For a beginer that really would like to learn more about rard hock and metal, this is the guitar you want. It's got impressive looks and once you run it through distortion, it's got some great tone....

At first I was Afraid... I was Petrified...

Comments about Dean Custom Zone Electric Guitar:

Ok well, this guitar is pretty basic in terms of features. 1 Volume, 1 Tone, 3-way selector, 2 Humbuckers. I have a Jaguar and it's nice if your really specific about your sound but most of the time I'm fine with just using the pickup selector. Versitile sound. I love the Rytheme position on the guitar such a Fat tone with alot of punch and ratins enough treble for me. The Lead position is pretty nice too but has a bit too much bass, I like it a little more flat. If you want to use the whammy forget the tunning. I even have trouble sometimes keeping it in tune if I use alot of bends. I think it's a problem with the Nut because it all goes up, too much tension stuck between the tunning pegs and the nut. The action is great and well I think I'm going to switch to the same gauge strings that came on it. So just to let you know, at first I wasn't too fond of it (I guess from playing my Jag), but the more I played it the more I love it, and latly I have been neglecting my Jaguar. For the price, it's a great that shouldn't let you down.

I picked this up on Veterans day for the great price!!! Its nuclear green is great, and it has a nice feel to the fret board. I'm using it with Rocksmith and for jamming!!! I like it, it tuned up quickly and held it very well even after a couple of days of temperature swings in the house.

Pure Glam

By I Kick A** For The Lord!

from Connecticut, USA

Comments about Dean Custom Zone Electric Guitar:

bought mine used, hot pink. The g tuner needed replacing. I put a Seymour Duncan Screamin' Demon in the bridge and a Dimarzio air norton in the neck, both coil tapped and wired out of phase. I put some neon electrical tape around the body to give it that 80's/ EVH look. This guitar has a great 80's metal tone that equals pure cheese in the bridge position, the neck sounds sweet. The neck has glow in the dark fret markers I added. The neck is fretted well on the bottom, but the top is a little rough, so if you play with your thumb over the top of the neck, you may scratch it up a bit. The fret board is smooth, frets are a little flat, great for harmonics. The alder sounds good. I would recommend this guitar for people looking for something a little bit different and flashy. I get complements on it every show. For the price, it is one snazzy little axe.

This is a sweet guitar!

By Griffin-0IXQB

from Tampa, FL

Comments about Dean Custom Zone Electric Guitar:

Dean markets its guitars mainly for metal, but this axe can play absolutely anything. The low action means easy licks and fast riffs without tiring out the fingers. The humbuckers are hot! I keep mainly on the bridge bucker since I prefer bright tones for rock, but the middle and neck pickups are very mellow and can play your jazz, funk, soul, anything! However I recommend swapping each pair some EMGs to give some real life. Eventually, one might want to get a Floyd Rose bridge for lots of whammy barrin'. Oh, and be careful. The high E can get stuck on binding of the neck occasionally.

Comments about Dean Custom Zone Electric Guitar:

this guitar is awesome! i got the pink one and it was so much cooler than i thought it would be. the sound is more for pop/punk/rock. stays in tune too! the only problem i've had is the input jack gets loose often (might need a longer one?) it plays really smoothly. overall good guitar for the price.

Awesome!

Comments about Dean Custom Zone Electric Guitar:

This is an amazing guitar. I saw it in the store and the purple just caught my eye. I picked it up and started figering it, it has great action. The finished fret board is really different, I think Dean just wanted it to match the body, but it makes it super easy to bend notes. I really recommend it, it's a great deal for the price.

Neon Green Dean

By Colleen-L3gCl

from Palatine,IL

Comments about Dean Custom Zone Electric Guitar:

I bought this guitar for my boyfriend on christmas and he absolutly loves it. The sound is amazing, and it can play many different gengre's of music. The brightness of the guitar blows you away from its shiny black finish to the florescent green neck. The guitar is fretless and has a floyd rose whammy bar. This is the perfect guitar for a low price and it's made by Dean guitars so you know it's the best. Just like their slogan, "Nothing Even Comes Close."

Very Nice!

By pinkpieman1337

Comments about Dean Custom Zone Electric Guitar:

It stays in tune, it can play anything from country to metal and everything in between, and it looks good while doing it. It's even brighter than the picture! It has a bit of dirt on clean which is kinda cool but it messes up some songs.Overall, a great guitar for a great price. I've called Musician's Friend several times and haven't got my missing tremelo bar yet though.

Dean for your dollar!

By Kbeem

from Colorado

Comments about Dean Custom Zone Electric Guitar:

This guitar is a fantastic purchase for a low budget! I had gear stolen out of the back of my car and needed a decent guitar to replace my stolen ones. This was a great buy! The stock humbuckers output a very smooth and thick tone for the price. I'm very happy with this baby and I'm almost hesitant to replace it.

Comments about Dean Custom Zone Electric Guitar:

I bought this guitar for my 6 year old daughter for her first guitar. I got the pink version, and it is VERY pink - brighter than it looks in the pictures. It's quite striking, and I kind of want to play it on stage just for aesthetic effect. It's a solid starter guitar. Nothing fancy sound-wise. Playability is good with a comfortable neck that plays smoothly. The sound is what you should expect in a low-cost guitar. Out of the box there was quite a bit of fret buzz, and even with some set-up, there is flat, buzzy sound to the guitar when not plugged in that makes it sound "cheapis." Plugged in, again, it sounds like what you should expect out of a starter electric. There is very little sustain - I'd say around 4 seconds of sustain, which might be a big deal if you want to play lead on this using it as performance guitar. I'm not using it for that, nor will my daughter. For a starter guitar, it's good. She's already learned a few chords. Her hands and arms are still far too small too really put this guitar to use, but I can see her growing nicely into the smaller scale neck, which should work well for her small frame. In other words, the fact that my daughter is too small is more a reflection of my daughter, rather than of the guitar. The guitar is a good size for a young learner.

She squeeled when she opened it! She really loves the guitar and has played it every day since Christmas. If you're in the market for a starter guitar either for a child or adult, you won't go wrong with this. If you're an experienced or professional musician who's looking to perform on stage, I'd say this guitar doesn't really fit the bill, but then again, no guitar in this price range is really going to do that. For comparison, I played an Epiphone Les Paul for years that I liked better both feel and sound-wise, but an Epiphone is a little more expensive and certainly not as visually striking.

So, in sum, for what it's worth, for me the guitar is "good enough," and my daughter LOVES it

Comments about Dean Custom Zone Electric Guitar:

This is one of the best guitars I have tried, especially for the price. Some guitars are good for one specific style of music, this one plays it all. It can play smooth or delta blues, and everything else from punk to reggae. Overall the best guitar I've ever owned.
