Comments about Dean Custom Run #8 ML Switchblade Electric Guitar:
This is an awsome guitar for the price. As the price suggests, it may not be a top line axe but it is solid and well built. Thumbs up to Dean Guitars for using the floyd 1000 it's much better than the floyd specials that many companies are going with.
I did get the black one at first cause that was the only one available. That particular guitar had several blemishes and some scratches. The color did not look like the pictures. I had brownish hues in the wood grain which i didn't care for. I returned it for an exchange. MF footed the return shipping. To my delight the blue one was available before I got my exchanged one shipped and I traded colors. The blue one I now have is beautiful.
As for the electronics and layout? You will not find another Dean ML like it. This is a very unique layout for a Dean ML.
The DMT pickups are of their own character. They have a different sound than the DiMarzios I am used to, but they have a nice distortion quality about them all their own. With the right amp settings they have a nice singing sustain. They are able to push a high gain amp nicely. Also can be dialed in to a very blusey zone. The Humbucking modes are great. You can get some single coil sounds that are not horrible but the volume drops a bit. It does take a lot of effort to get anywhere close to a fender strat sound but That is a whole different beast. Dont expect to emulate one with this metal machine.
25 to 30 Years from now they will be going for at least twice their going rate. Get one while you can.
