Dean Evo XM (Natural Mahogany) Owned for 1 month
Very first impression of this guitar was "this color is different from what is shown online". I ordered the Natural Mahogany and was expecting to see the natural wood grain on the body of the guitar but what you get is the solid color of mahogany, almost a burgundy color. I am not saying I am disappointed with the color but it is not what I was expecting. The black knobs and pickups look really nice with this color. Out of the box, I tuned the strings hooked it up to an amp and it sounded great. The tuners are not the best and will be something I will look to upgrade sometime in the future, but for now I just check the tuning before I play. Some of the strings stay in tune pretty good but one or two need to be tuned frequently. The guitar needed no truss rod adjustment or bridge adjustments. The action on this guitar seems great and I am impressed with the pickups. So far I have had no problems with any of the hardware which was something I had read in other reviews. This is my first electric guitar and I have only been playing acoustic just over a year so my skills are limited but I had a friend who has many years experience try this guitar out and he was very impressed. All in all I think this was a great purchase and I expect to get many years of use out of this instrument.

This guitar is a great plays to start out, have as an extra or for a recreational player.
Solid construction, nice feel, great tone. We're not talking about the finest hand craftsmanhip, but we also not talking about a mess. It is well built, and is an excellent guitar for a beginner or for someone like me who likes to have a guitar around but isn't going to be making a living with it. That being said, I also wouldn't have any problems seeing this as a guitar that gets used extensively for gigging.
This is my second Dean item and they have both been fantastic. My first Dean cost significantly more than this, but plays and sounds just as good. There are not a lot of bells and whistles but what is included works well, and sounds great. It is a very good buy.

this was my 1st electric and still my favorite mostly due to the weight and feel of the guitar. comfertable neck and easy to upgrade (i have gibson humbuckers in mine) best choice for beginners hands down

Just started playing. I mean literally just started. I've been practicing every day and its a great feel great sound. I had a friend who has played for years and is in a signed band tune it and jam with it for a little bit and he said its a great sounding guitar, especially for the price.

For a beginner, doing chords and bends for the first time seems to be easy and scares me! Getting comments from the other rooms in the house like, "Hey...you're really getting good!"
Yet, I know it's the electric guitar that should take all the credit.
Wasn't sure such a reasonably priced guitar would sound this good, but, IT DOES!!!

I'm an experienced bassist but new to guitar. I wanted something cheap to write music on. This guitar was certainly cheap!
The feel is really quite nice. I've played it only through amp modellers and I've used high-gain models as well as clean models. In both cases, the guitar performs pretty admirably as long as you put on a noise gate. Without one, the pickups are pretty buzzy. I've also recorded a short death metal track with it--as long as you've got decent production skills you can get a pretty good sounding recording out of it.
The bridge/tailpiece is pretty solid. If you're buying a guitar this cheap, go with a fixed bridge like this one instead of a trem. Manufacturers save a lot of money on hardware for cheap models and a bad trem ruins an otherwise usable guitar.
The tuners seem ok. They hold tune well enough for practicing and a little recording, but I probably wouldn't count on it holding for a whole set on stage.
Overall, I'd consider this a great deal, but not a great guitar. It's certainly good enough for what I want, which is songwriting and demo recording. I may even buy another to keep in standard tuning since mine is tuned down to B.

First, there is nothing transparent about the finish - I purchased the transparent black - it is FLAT BLACK. That said, it looks COOL.
I am very surprised at how well it plays and how in-tune it is right out of the box. This is a great value.

The only thing I gotta say is, check the nuts and bolts and screws, I panicked cause the hookup came unscrewed and went into the wiring area, but I simply unscrewed the back plate,pushed it back out and tightly reatached the bolts to it

have nothing bad to say about it at all .
i bought this guitar and got it 3 days ago. yes the color is darker than the one shown but it is stain color . it looks great to me . it's my first Dean guitar , but i put up there with my Strats . String action is perfect . i would buy it again if i had to buy another or when i buy another . I'd put it there with Eph. Les Paul 100% . Great sound with my Marshall MD250.

I hate to say it but when I bought the guitar I was shopping for an AMP. This guitar was sitting there and I thought that if it makes a cheap guitar sound good then it will make my Tele sound awesome. The more I played the guitar the better I liked it. I have it sitting on a stand at home and it's the only thing I play. I wouldn't recommend playing out with this axe but for sitting around it's a good player.
The features are bare bones but this guitar has a unique feel
The quality is about what you would expect in this price range.
For the money it is a great guitar.
