This guitar has a nice chunky neck and feels like a good traditional design but with a cutaway. The electronics serve it very well, it sounds great through the amp. The neck is solid wood, the body is laminate and the top is laminate, but it all sounds very good together. The tuning machines are a surprisingly good quality, similar to Grover tuners. There are some glue smears inside of my guitar but they do not hurt the tone as far as I can tell. Some of the framing wood does not fit exactly right, but since the body is laminate, I do not think the body strength was compromised. The lacquer on the neck between the frets was not completely smooth, but I smoothed it down with some oooo steel wool and now it is very good for playing. I had the action set by a local guitar shop and then the guitar played really nicely, and the sound is surprisingly good, even unplugged. Nice deep sound, nice upper sound. The amp is a very impressive. Great sound!
Very nice sounding guitar for the price. The headstock was chiped on the corner but nothing a little wood work couldn't fix. The E (string 1) and B (string 2) where unplayble because they where lying down on the frets, but a truss rod adjustment fixed that problem. The 20W Amp and guitar cord worked flawlessly and actually sounds very good. Other than a couple of fixes it's a good bang for the buck.
I just received this guitar today and wasn't sure of what to expect. But i figured hey its my first A/E. When it arrived it looked to be all there and in GREAT condition. With further inspection i am completely pleased with the purchase. The guitar sounds great plugged and unplugged. And the amp for such a small little thing can certainly kick. Well good enough for coffe house performances or small group playing. I would definetly recommend this guitar to anyone. From Beginner To Advanced. Thanks musicians friend for a great buy!!!!
Very nice guitar for the price. Just a few things that would have made it superior:The strings are a little too high off of the fret board, but should adjust to a better height during set up. There was only one minor flaw with the finish where the neck and body are joined together, but not enough to warrant a return after waiting several weeks to receive it.This thing has a great low end sound and projects well when strumming chords or finger picking. The amplifier is a nice little practice unit that enhances the sound of the guitar. With the right mic it should be useable on a small stage. It should be great for a beginner all the way to an advanced player that doesn't want to use their high dollar guitar at outdoor or other "risky" performance events once it is set up properly.A factory installed strap button on the front end would've been nice to have on this guitar. But other than the above mentioned critiques, it is a solid guitar and well worth the asking price if you're willing to put a little time in getting it set up to your liking.
This package comes with a wonderful guitar, but not much else. The instrument plays beatifully and is easy to take care of. I didn't even have to change the strings! The amp however, it has good sound, but tends to smell like smoke after a few minutes of just being "on". It also doesn't have an overdrive feature, which is fine unless you want to play most rock songs.
I was torn between an epi package and this Dean package. The Epi came with more goodies for the same price, but after reading reviews on both ,the dean won out. Being a somewhat begginer to intermidate player i can't tell you how happy i am with my choice of the dean. holds tune has great tone and sound unplugged and when plugged in this killer 20w amp will let you tune to whatever sound you might be looking for. In my opinion if you want bang for your buck and great sound get this package.
I sent in a review right after I received this product and was a little harsh. I think I was expecting to be disappointed for the price I paid. This guitar has a nice finish, quality electronics, and good tuners. It plays about as well as could be expected and sounds great. The little amp you get is really cool and sounds bright and clear. I really think this is the best package deal out there. I wouldn't discourage anyone from buying this package.
Purty nice guitar although it doesn't sound as good as my 22 year old Yamaha acoustic. But the strings that came with it were playable enough that I haven't even changed them yet, expect it to sound a bit better when I do.The action, though much higher than my Yamaha is doable and good for the fingers so I'm not gonna mess with it. The amp is fun to use, spend as much time or more with the old Yamaha plugged in with the sound hole pickup as I do with the Dean. Its also a good looking guitar, appears to be well made and well worth the price with the amp. Overall a good deal that I would recommend to anyone, especially at my primitive playing level.
Good fit for a beginner-Intermediate like me. Wish it had a little more instruction on the amp settings though.
I purchased this guitar to play for our church/small group meeitngs. The sound is great for that setting. I don't know much about guitars as I am a keyboard player, but it works well for what we do. The amp was plently load for our Sunday service to do an acoustic set with 3 mic'ed vocalists and drums.
This is the first time that I have ever owned a Dean guitar and did not know what to think at first. I use it to lead worship on Wednesday and Friday nights and help with worship on Sunday mornings. It sees alot of use. About 2 months after receiving it the pre-amp died. I contacted Dean and they sent me a whole new electronics package cost free. Now I wouldn't Lead worship without it.
I just purchased this value pack a month ago. I had never played a Dean before so when I picked this up at the local music store I didn't know what to expect for that small of a price. Man is this thing impressive. The amp is KICK @SS and it stays tuned even in moderate temperature changes. If your on a budget, and want to feel like you really found a steal, look no further. I highly recomend.
I plugged the guitar with this package into the amp and my local dealer. I was blown away by the clarity and power of this little amplifier. I convinved the dealer to break up the package and sell me the amp for $75.00... Using an RP-50 with my Electric guitar into this amp, maintains great tone at low volume unlike anything else in this size package. Great for practice while watching videos. You do have to be a little careful not to drive the speakers too hard but after all this is meant for an acoustic. I've yet to try it at church for small gigs with my acoustic guitar but it should do just fine. Now considering that someone is going to get an acoustic/electric guitar for $125.00, the guitar becomse an excellent value.
I got this guitar about 3 months ago and overall I'm pretty happy with it. I was looking for an acoustic guitar, but I wanted to be able to plug it into my computer to use it in Garageband. I got this because it was the best priced acoustic-electric pack I could find.Although I'm pretty happy with my choice, I do have some problems with it. The electronics have trouble picking up the first string. When it's plugged in, every other string comes through loud and clear, but the first string sounds muted. Also, the action is too high-- I plan on getting it lowered because as it is now it's nearly impossible to play barre chords. The other week, I noticed that somehow I put a nasty scratch on the side of the guitar's body. I probably wacked it against a wall or something so that's more my fault than the guitar being shoddily made. But it still sucks. All around, this is a pretty nice package. The guitar has decent tone, playability, etc. I like the cutaway body, it adds a little style to it. The amp is real bright and clear, and when you crank it up, she can really kick.
I got it for father?s day. I could hardly believe the quality and features this guitar has. Very playable right out of the box. I got it as a back-up for my Alverez. The sound was amazing. It was different than the Alverez, but it would not surprise me if it sounds even better in a few years, and it cost around $500. The amp is LOUD!!! It has great sound and controls are great. I have a friend who already offered me nearly what I paid for the whole package just for the amp. I love it. I would suggest it to everyone at this price.
I just recieved my Dean pack and couldn't be more pleased. This is the first acoustic-electric I've owned and I feel that this entire package is a great deal. I think that the cutaway body style makes it easier to play and the neck is not too bulky feeling either. I'm use to playing on my grandfather's old boxy gibson so this guitar feels like a dream. This package is ideal for a beginner or for anyone looking to add a nice lil acoustic -electric to there collection. The small amp kicks pretty darn good too :) Great Deal!
