THIS GUITAR IS A WORTHY PURCHASE. IT IS WELL CONSTRUCTED AND HAS GOOD TONE. THE CASE WAS BUILT FOR IT AND SEEMS PRETTY DECENT. THE FRETS AND TUNING ARE JUST FINE UPON ARRIVAL, AND IT HAS A GOOD TONE. PUT SOME BETTER STRINGS ON IT AND IT WILL FEEL BETTER. NECK IS KIND OF LESS SMOOTH DUE TO LAMINATES. GREAT FINISH THOUGH, GOOD LOOKING AX.

Comments about Dean Tradition AK48 Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

I've been playing for over 20 years as a worship leader at church. I was looking for an inexpensive guitar to keep at the house and take on trips (to spare my good ones from extra wear and tear). When I got this Dean, I was blown away. The case alone is worth the price I gave for the guitar with a coupon. The action on the guitar was excellent, just needed some new strings. If you're looking for a great starter guitar, or one to jam and carry around, don't hesitate. OUTSTANDING value.

Comments about Dean Tradition AK48 Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

I purchased this guitar about 4 years ago as a guitar that would tide me over until I could afford a Martin or other high quality instrument. Since I play for my own pleasure and rarely play in public I have determined I am satisfied with this guitar and no longer lust for the expensive stuff. It replaced a MIJ Ibanez that I bought in 1979 whose frets were worn flat. The quality of these Chinese Dean guitars rivals my coveted, classic MIJ Concord. No buzzing frets, no dead spots, the guitar looks good and does not show its age.

This is a good guitar for cheap money. Period.

I never liked the use of plastic or laminates in guitar construction but have made peace with these prejudices. The guitar looks and plays like it did when I bought it several years ago.

I recommend that purchasers of this and any other made in China guitar that they buy a quality oil for the fretboard. China is hot and humid. Guitars are shipped by boat (3-4 weeks at sea). As soon as guitars are put in the air conditioned stores and homes they start to dry out. My fretboard still looks great and the frets have not moved a bit. I actually think it looks better than new with regular application of oil. The rest of the guitar is laminate so I don't foresee any cracking in the body or neck.

Dean Tradition AK48 Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar purchase from Musician's Friend

          By Chris Fraley

          from Undisclosed

Comments about Dean Tradition AK48 Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

Exceptionally ice guitar and case, good value. Delivery quick and without issues.
This is an exceptionally nice guitar, with construction and and materials typically found on more expensive makes and models. Nice finish - unusual blue color.
Nice materials and finish, well-constructed. Great sound. Plays and holds tuning well. Case also very good quality. The strings aren't too great, but that's easy to remedy.
Hard to beat this in value. The material, sound, craftmanship are all well worth the price. Plus, it comes with a very nice hard case.

When I bought mine, Musician's Friend was offereing a promotional in which Dean Guitars had chosen not to participate. MF gave me the deal anyway.

Dean AK48 - Great Guitar for the $

Comments about Dean Tradition AK48 Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

i've owned this guitar for more than 1 yr and have played it often. i am very satisfied with the sound and the resonance. this thing stays in tune longer and in a greater variety of conditions than my electric guitars. i highly recommend this guitar to all.
          the action seems just right.
wow, is this an awesome guitar for the $! it even comes with a case that is also pretty decent.

One of the best values around

          By Dubwax

          from Chicago

Comments about Dean Tradition AK48 Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

This guitar is beautiful. Mahogany back and sides, solid spruce top, rosewood fingerboard. It does not look like a cheap guitar, it does not play like a cheap guitar and it does not sound like a cheap guitar. This guitar is advertised as a beginner guitar but I know plenty of skilled guitar players that don't even have guitars this nice. It is made in China as are most of the guitars in this price range. Everything about it is very solid. The construction seems to be above standard for the line. Side by side with a Takamine Jasmine S35 and it's blatantly obvious which one is of higher quality. It holds tune really well. It sounds very clear but has a slight resonance issue with the low-mids. The neck is very nice and plays effortlessly. No issues with sharp frets or buzzing out. I thought it sounded good when I got it and then I put D'Addario 12's on it and it sounded even better. Personally, I would prefer a cutaway. It would also be nice to have electronics. My only other gripe would be that it is missing a second strap post, so if you want to wear a strap you have to tie it around the top of the neck. The gloss finish is really nice but it's a fingerprint magnet. That being said, I think it is an exceptional value that cannot be matched. You should probably just buy it

Comments about Dean Tradition AK48 Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

I started playing with a cheap high action Palmer guitar that had plastic bridge and nuts. Since then i have gotten an electric and 12 string both are outstanding values. Now i didn't get this guitar here I got it from a local shop during a holiday sale. It came with the gig bag not a hardshell case. What you get with this guitar is a TOP QUALITY finish. in caps for a reason. Action on these are pretty low I checked 10 or 12 of them in the shop to see them all first seemed to vary little. I changed the strings right away to ernie ball earthwood bronze which i love. The sound is incredible. I started working double so this beauty sat in the bag for 6 months. Took it out couple of days ago. STILL PERFECTLY IN TUNE. Sounds like a 1000 dollar guitar. Dean quality is awesome.

I have owned this guitar for 6 months and I still love playing it every day. I am very aware that it does not compare to an original Gibson guitar but look at the price! I put a set of Guild lightweight strings on this guitar and it sounds amazing. The neck is smooth and the fretboard is amazing.

          Holy Snikey

Comments about Dean Tradition AK48 Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

What a great guitar. I had friends seriously doubting my sanity buying a guitar over the internet, but today I brought the guitar to work and they were awed. They kept asking "how much did you pay for this?" and looked suprised. I ordered the AK48 in red, the pictures don't do it justice. The whole guitar is a lovely translucent red (including back of neck and head stock). Came out of tune (does anyone expect a guitar to be mailed in tune?) but was already set up very nice. Nice action. I bought this guitar for bringing places I cant plug in (and don't want to bring my expensive electrics) but this guitar looks so good it might have to stay home!
