Hard to bea. The tone is acually pretty good. Not muddy, as long as you adjust the pickups and compensate the individual screws for even volume. Finish looks good but frets need some leveling. All in all, it's a good buy. Very pretty finish and the sunburst goes well with the gold hardware.
All the features you'd expect. Normal Les Paul wiring and Grover tuners.
Surprizingly good, but not "Deluxe". Frets need a bit of leveling and intonation was off, but that's an easy fix. The frets, not so much. Like the Grover tuners.
Got it on sale. Pretty good for what I paid.

Love it and would replace it if it were stonen or broken.
I just got this about 2 weeks ago and was a bit hesitent cause I had some epis in the past that were ok but nothing to write home about. This one kills all the doubts and fears I may have had in the past. From the fit to finish this is one solid guitar. The reason it gets a 9 out of 10 is cause some of the body inside the upper f hole is delaminating. I of corse will bring it back to get a replacment or discount (which I prefer) cause the way this baby plays and sounds I am hesitent to give it back. The tone is to die for and the neck is like butter. The look as I said is beautiful and as a Strat player for the most part, this is my fav double hum guitar to date. Get one you will not be dissapointed. It plays and sounds like a higer end 335 should for a quater of the price.
Except for the problem I mentioned I'd say the quality is worth the money.
Great value for twice the money.

Comments about Epiphone Dot Deluxe Flametop Semi-Hollowbody Electric Guitar:
I have had this guitar sitting around for a few years. Bought it because, given all of my expensive instruments, it was so cheap!
I just put some Seymour Duncan Seth Lover pickups in it and WOW! This is a top 3 among my 20 guitars now. I highly recommend it. Alternative pickups would be the '57 reissue Gibsons.
If you are buying for a kid or a beginner, this is the way to go: a solid instrument that can be upgraded. Same thing goes for the Mex Fenders.

Comments about Epiphone Dot Deluxe Flametop Semi-Hollowbody Electric Guitar:
I had been looking at the regular DOTs for a while and when I saw this deluxe version offered for the same money, I couldn't pass it up. I also purchased the Fender Mustang II amp for it and it is a good match. The fit and finish is very nice on mine. I had to tweak the intonation but that was a small task. I gave it a 5 and would recommend it to anybody not wanting to spend thousands on a Gibson ES335. There were no buzzes and after fixing the intonation, it was very accurate all the way up the neck except for a minor issue with the G string. The only complaint I have is that the G string which is a plain .017P tends to go way sharp especially on the first two frets. I am going to replace that with a wound .018W to see if that fixes or minimizes the problem. I may go up one step in string weight all the way around. This is the first electric guitar I have owned since college in the 70's so my experience with them is limited. However, I am so far very happy with this guitar. I recommend it.

Comments about Epiphone Dot Deluxe Flametop Semi-Hollowbody Electric Guitar:
Awesome sound and looks great;
But WHY does Epiphone continue to instal super cheap 3 way switches? right out of the box the
3 way switch does not work in the middle position.
MF CS was great in offering a possible solution, but it didn't work. Returns are such a hassle.

Comments about Epiphone Dot Deluxe Flametop Semi-Hollowbody Electric Guitar:
The Dot is about as close to the sound of the Epiphone Casino as you can get. Very reasonably priced, the tone of this guitar is suitable for just about any kind of music. My only con is the guitar does not stay in tune long, even after breaking in the strings after about 6 hours of playing. It's probably just me because I've had locking tuners installed on all my other electric guitars.

Comments about Epiphone Dot Deluxe Flametop Semi-Hollowbody Electric Guitar:
Neck was cracked on arrival! Please, MF, use better packaging. The neck wasn't yet actually broken off, so I was able to play it a bit before returning it. Tone was surprisingly good. The flame top was gorgeous, though the pieces weren't properly bookmatched. But there were many little finish details that were missed. Frets were extremely rough, though were smoothed by repeated bending. Yuck. The finish on the neck was so thick and dark, it was impossible to tell it was made of mahogany and not plastic.I expect to give every new guitar a complete setup, but this one was going to require a full fret dress, as there were multiple high frets.I know it's only a [$] guitar, but it costs just a little less than a MIM Fender, and they're finished much better.Which leads to my conclusion that these ES-335 style guitars are more difficult to build correctly, and the bottom end of the price range should be avoided.I would consider a Sheraton II. They appear to be built much better. It's not just more "bling". Same electronics and hardware. More attention to detail. Better wood.

Comments about Epiphone Dot Deluxe Flametop Semi-Hollowbody Electric Guitar:
If you are considering a DOT at [$], you'd be nuts not to go ahead and get this obvious upgrade. Flametop maple, Groover tuners, all gold hardware w/'57 humbuckers is a pretty sweet combo. I really lucked out on my purchase with a $100 off coupon internet from [@] so a good deal was insane at only [$]. Only tinkering I did when first delivered was I lowered the action more to my liking and took off all the strings and polished the frets with 0000 steel wool to remove a few slight burrs. They are like glass now. It's got a comfortable neck and to be honest, it's not bad to play unplugged as well. Hardly anything to loose sleep over but don't count on the Epi logo staying on the pickguard. Mine lasted about a week and after falling off a few times, I just gave up. Be sure to buy the matching case which is really solid and fits perfectly.
Comments about Epiphone Dot Deluxe Flametop Semi-Hollowbody Electric Guitar:
Awesome guitar if you immediately put a lock washer on it.
I had severa problems withe output jack. It came very loose and when i plugged in would loosen even more and it came off three times. I had to send it back twice and get it repaired once. Eventually i just got a new guitar. So when u buy this put on a lock washer and tighten it with pliers. Otherwise a great guitar.
Comments about Epiphone Dot Deluxe Flametop Semi-Hollowbody Electric Guitar:
I rate this guitar a 9. To be honest, i didnt expect much, but when i picked it up it just blew my mind. I actually prefer this guitar to a couple of Gibsons ive played. This guitar can do anything from funk to even metal. Its got a very nice deep, rich tone. The 57 classics really sing and because of this guitar they are my favorite pickups. Its one of those guitars that you dont have to modify at all in any way to get somthing good out of it. I had my eyes on a Gibson les Paul but when i stumbled across this i couldnt help myself. Plus, it was in my price range. This guitar is a great buy.
This guitar has everything you need. 2 tones, 2 volumes, and a pickup selecter. Nothing too tricky. When i picked up the guitar i was surprised at how beautiful the flame was. I almost forgot that it wasnt real wood for a second. I can definatley notice some wearing on the gold hardware though.
The quality of this guitar is very good for an Epiphone. She's survived a of couple drops in a gig bag and a drumstick thrown by an angry drummer.
You cannot beat the price of this guitar for what it is.

Fantastic value! I owned an Epiphone Wildkat that would NOT stay in tune. This had no such problems. Great tone.
