No complaints!
I purchase a Epiphone Dove, with chrome hardware, just for the icon of a dove. I have other more expensive guitars including a D-15 Martin and an upper end Washburn with all the bells and whistles, and I did not expect much from the Dove, being a less expensive guitar. However, it was love at first sight the first time pick it up and tuned it till my first cord. Suspension is great, plays very smooth, and the sound is well rounded. I haven't played my other guitars since receiving it. Great guitar for money. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a less expensive, quality guitar to play.

I wanted one of these for years. When I finally ordered one I was not really pleased. There were sharp burrs on the frets, 2 high frets, 2 tuning keys turned quite rough & the overall sound was muffled. A guitar tech completely reworked it & I put new keys on it. It now plays fairly well, but the sound is still muffled. If you don't mind doing some work on it or spending a few bucks on it, it is an o.k. guitar. I can only recommend a person buy one under those conditions. I may have just got a "bummer" & others may be great.

Comments about Epiphone Dove Acoustic Guitar:

Any lower priced guitar will do better with bone nut, saddle and bridge pins. And a better set of strings. So it is with the Dove. You EXPECT to do that unless you don't know guitars. It's maple, so it's gonna be bright, not vintage martin dreadnaught bluegrass boomy. But, with decent set up, which you have to do with all guitars, the right strings and some bone..this guitar sounds fine.Mine is only a couple of months old, and is sounding bigger and deeper than when it first arrived.Tusq makes a nice nut.. fits right in.. preslotted.Same with the saddle..and bridge pins are right here.I build guitars, electrics. I've played guitar since 1964 or 65. I've owned a lot of acoustics over the years. Not ashamed of this one bit.Plays great, frets are nice, workmanship is detailed, look is very sweet and the sound is very nice and above it's price range.I'll be adding a piezo.I'd buy another anytime.Don't be snobby about it, if this is your price range, this is an excellent choice.I'm satisfied and I'm picky.

Comments about Epiphone Dove Acoustic Guitar:

I had a bad experience with epiphone about 10 years ago, so I never considered buying another one since. That was until I saw this one in my local guitar shop. It looked so nice, I had to pick it up. I gut checked it with a firm strum of a full G. I immediately forgot my previous bad experience. The tone was crisp and bright, but not tinny, and actually had a rounded bottom end, which is suprising for an acoustic with maple back/sides. After strumming a little, I gave it a close lookover. Expecting to find at least one cosmetic/construction flaw, I was humbled when I found that the construction quality was superb. The binding was even, the finish was applied well, nothing loose, tuners were good. By the way, this guitar features a tapered dovetail neck joint, which I was very pleased with. I also played a masterbilt, which was also wonderful. But for some reason, the cheaper Dove just jumped out at me. Don't be afraid of the name, and price tag. If you're a singer/songwriter looking for a great strummer, this is a wonderful choice.

Comments about Epiphone Dove Acoustic Guitar:

I am happy with this purchase, and I highly recommend this guitar to anyone that is contemplating buying one.
I've owned both a gibson Dove, and Gibson Hummingbird, and while these both were absolutely gorgeous guitars, with the fret set up and dressed perfectly to play as soon as I tuned them up, I couldn't find anything wrong with the Epiphone Version I have purchased here. I may do a little polishing on the fret ends, but other than than this, it's ready to go, and I love the acoustics and easy action. Awesome!
As I mentioned the frets were a little rough one the ends, someone may have over looked it, but it won't take much to smooth it out to suit myself. I have run in to the same thing with high end guitars also. no real concerns.
I must say, price being considered with this purchase, that I'm more than pleased. I don't want to keep saying this too much, or Epiphone may raise their prices, But for the dollars I spent on this instrument, no one else could match it.

Comments about Epiphone Dove Acoustic Guitar:

the epiphone dove combines looks and style, but if your going for tone this isnt what you want. It has a good feel but it sounds very high-pitched. i played this guitar in my local store and it was an emediate know it doesnt have a warm mellow sound like most washburns or ibanez. I highly reccomend the washurn or ibanez.

Epi Dove

By Craig Webster

Comments about Epiphone Dove Acoustic Guitar:

Doing an Elvis show my Gibson's took a beating. Went with the Epi line on the Dove & J-200. My Ebony Dove was great right out of the box. Pickguard was cheap but I wasn't going to keep it on anyway. My guitar guy made the Elvis style pickguard for it and it was good to go. Between the stage outfits tearing up the back and tossing my guitars, the Gibson's are too pricey to replace. The Epi is outstanding for the money, and the sound is fantastic. I can toss it on stage knowing that if it isn't caught I'm not out $3k. (Not that I intend to treat any guitar like I don't care, just part of the show) Overall plays easy with great tone, and I find myself playing the Epi s over my Gibsons even at home. Didn't change a thing except pickguard. The Dove has my official stamp of approval from memoriesofelvisshow.com.
Cheap on the pickguard
Other than that good to go right out of the box. Great tone & well built. Almost no difference from the Gibson Dove

Big bang for the buck

Comments about Epiphone Dove Acoustic Guitar:

Just got the dove and am very pleased with quality. I have played Martin for years and own a Gibson re-issue dove. The Epiphone does not come up the their standards, but for the price it can't be beat. The dove has a low acton and plays great right out of the box. The only thing it needed was a quick tune. For the price and craftsmanship you just can't beat the Epiphone Dove.

Love it!

Comments about Epiphone Dove Acoustic Guitar:

This guitar has a sweet, singing sound with crisp highs and smooth lows. The bottom end is smooth and pronounced, but not necessarily a booming sound- overall the sound is very full and well balanced. Out of the box the action was great, comparable to if not slightly more comfortable than my Ovations- with no adjustment necessary over the past 1.5 years. Really chimes with some Elixir strings.

An amazing guitar

Comments about Epiphone Dove Acoustic Guitar:

This is an amazing guitar. My uncle has the Gibson dove and we tested them out together. Now I know that Gibson and Epiphone are not it the same league, but it was hard to argue that when we had both guitars there together, The Epi Model is just as good as the Gibson, Just as good!!!!Overall this is an amazing guitar for the price and playable right out of the box, I was very impressed.
