No complaints!
I purchase a Epiphone Dove, with chrome hardware, just for the icon of a dove. I have other more expensive guitars including a D-15 Martin and an upper end Washburn with all the bells and whistles, and I did not expect much from the Dove, being a less expensive guitar. However, it was love at first sight the first time pick it up and tuned it till my first cord. Suspension is great, plays very smooth, and the sound is well rounded. I haven't played my other guitars since receiving it. Great guitar for money. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a less expensive, quality guitar to play.

I wanted one of these for years. When I finally ordered one I was not really pleased. There were sharp burrs on the frets, 2 high frets, 2 tuning keys turned quite rough & the overall sound was muffled. A guitar tech completely reworked it & I put new keys on it. It now plays fairly well, but the sound is still muffled. If you don't mind doing some work on it or spending a few bucks on it, it is an o.k. guitar. I can only recommend a person buy one under those conditions. I may have just got a "bummer" & others may be great.

THIS GUITAR NEEDED FRET WORK, FINISH WORK, SADDLE LOWERED, AND WAS MISSING THE TRUSS ROD COVER. SOME ONE ENGRAVED THEIR NAME ONE THE BACK OF THE HEAD OF THE GUITAR AND SOME HOME MADE SERIAL NUMBERS AS WELL. THIS IS A NICE BEATER GUITAR NOW. IT PLAYS GREAT AND IS FUN TO LOOK AT.I KEEP IT IN MY BUISINESS AND IT GETS PLAYED BY A LOT OF PEOPLE. I REPAIRED EVERYTHING ,IT IS FINE NOW AND I WILL BUY ANOTHER PROJECT SOON. THIS IS MY 2ND REPAIR GUITAR FROM MUSICIANS FRIENDS AND I GOT A GOOD DEAL EACH TIME

    Epi Dove

    By

    from St. Pete Beach, FL

Comments about Epiphone Dove Acoustic Guitar:

Doing an Elvis show my Gibson's took a beating. Went with the Epi line on the Dove & J-200. My Ebony Dove was great right out of the box. Pickguard was cheap but I wasn't going to keep it on anyway. My guitar guy made the Elvis style pickguard for it and it was good to go. Between the stage outfits tearing up the back and tossing my guitars, the Gibson's are too pricey to replace. The Epi is outstanding for the money, and the sound is fantastic. I can toss it on stage knowing that if it isn't caught I'm not out $3k. (Not that I intend to treat any guitar like I don't care, just part of the show) Overall plays easy with great tone, and I find myself playing the Epi s over my Gibsons even at home. Didn't change a thing except pickguard. The Dove has my official stamp of approval from memoriesofelvisshow.com.
    Cheap on the pickguard
Other than that good to go right out of the box. Great tone & well built. Almost no difference from the Gibson Dove

    Epiphone Ebony Dove Acoustic Guitar

Comments about Epiphone Dove Acoustic Guitar:

I am happy with this purchase, and I highly recommend this guitar to anyone that is contemplating buying one.
I've owned both a gibson Dove, and Gibson Hummingbird, and while these both were absolutely gorgeous guitars, with the fret set up and dressed perfectly to play as soon as I tuned them up, I couldn't find anything wrong with the Epiphone Version I have purchased here. I may do a little polishing on the fret ends, but other than than this, it's ready to go, and I love the acoustics and easy action. Awesome!
As I mentioned the frets were a little rough one the ends, someone may have over looked it, but it won't take much to smooth it out to suit myself. I have run in to the same thing with high end guitars also. no real concerns.
I must say, price being considered with this purchase, that I'm more than pleased. I don't want to keep saying this too much, or Epiphone may raise their prices, But for the dollars I spent on this instrument, no one else could match it.

    This Dove Flew Away...

    By

    from Northeast

Comments about Epiphone Dove Acoustic Guitar:

Not a bad guitar for what it is. The cherry color is attractive. It is much better than the Epiphone Hummingbird, at least in the quality control department. The sound, however, is tinny. It does not carry when played with other people. I liked the neck, but the string spacing was unnecessarily close for the nut width. This was the deciding factor in selling it. When you buy an Epiphone, take time to check it out thoroughly. I have had some good ones, and some dogs. It is cheaper than a Gibson, it looks like a Gibson, but is is not a Gibson. I have found that unless you want a beater or you just can't afford it, you will be better off to wait and buy a quality American acoustic.
It has a solid spruce top and good tuners so I'll give it a seven.
The one I bought had a striking appearance. But quality, it was ok. Definately a beginner's guitar, or a good beater.
I got back most of my money when I sold it, so I can't give it a bad value rating. However, I haven't lost money on a Martin yet.

    good looks, but tinny

Comments about Epiphone Dove Acoustic Guitar:

the epiphone dove combines looks and style, but if your going for tone this isnt what you want. It has a good feel but it sounds very high-pitched. i played this guitar in my local store and it was an emediate know it doesnt have a warm mellow sound like most washburns or ibanez. I highly reccomend the washurn or ibanez.

    Love it!

    By

Comments about Epiphone Dove Acoustic Guitar:

This guitar has a sweet, singing sound with crisp highs and smooth lows. The bottom end is smooth and pronounced, but not necessarily a booming sound- overall the sound is very full and well balanced. Out of the box the action was great, comparable to if not slightly more comfortable than my Ovations- with no adjustment necessary over the past 1.5 years. Really chimes with some Elixir strings.
