I'm 56 years old and after playing in bands for over 35 years, I got tired of dealing with drama and egos and decided this year to just play Acoustic . I own 2 Fenders, a Mitchell , and now this very, under rated beauty . I'll be very honest here and that is, I used to think that this model was junk but now, the newer models that Epiphone is knocking out of the park from their factory in China , are really well made guitars . I have a Vintage Sunburst model that I got just a couple of days ago and I am totally amazed at both the build quality, and sound of this instrument . The only things that I did upon receiving it were to adjust the truss rod a bit , clean the fretboard with some Lemon Oil, and put on a set of Elixirs. This is a player which has a very nice, bright, tone to it, which you can use for sing a longs, trips to the beach, cookouts, etc. Plus the tuners that are now on it, are die cast thus allowing tuning stability which is something that the older models lacked IMO. This is one heck of a great bargain for either a beginner or the musician on a budget. I highly recommend this guitar !!!!

Quality Acoustic for first time owner. I've owned nothing but nylon and electric guitars up until this purchase. Although I've been playing 15+ years and can afford a Martin I thought it was more practical to start with a beginner steel string. Also knowing that I can take this camping and not worry about a case or wear & tear is a positive quality for me, since a future purchase will remain in the case when not played.

Ordered the guitar on a friday, received it on a tuesday. Needed new strings-I chose Martin. The Neck needed adjusting but I didn't want to take it in for adjusting, so based off a youtube tutorial I loosened the trust rod myself and it fixed the dead notes on the 3rd and 10th fret in a matter of 30 minutes. I also was brave enough to peel off the cheap black pickboard, the sunburst design looks a bit classier now. This guitar is perfect for learning new songs and practicing covers & originals. A fun guitar but nothing more.

Comments about Epiphone DR-100 Acoustic Guitar:

I was a little apprehensive about buying a inexpensive guitar after playing a taylor for the last 10 years - I know how much easier a quality guitar is to play. I purchased this guitar to donate to a local ministry and after talking with the rep at Musicians Friend I thought I would give it a try. When I got the guitar in, I was pleasantly surprised at the playability. I was expecting the strings to be a mile above the frets and have to spend some time adjusting it, but that wasn't the case at all. I simply unpacked it, tuned it and began playing. I played it for about an hour to see if it would stay in tune and it did surprisingly good for brand new strings. It has a bright full sound. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a practice guitar or beginning student.

Comments about Epiphone DR-100 Acoustic Guitar:

I play small venues with this Epiphone. Had a Les Paul Epiphone in mid 70's so I tried this one just because it was such a good value and I heard good things about it. Put Elixer light strings on it and a Tusq bridge and it sounds like Gibson Dove Deluxe. I sing pretty loud also and this gem balances out very well.

Comments about Epiphone DR-100 Acoustic Guitar:

A couple of weeks ago one of my students had this guitar sitting on a chair when it came loudly crashing to the tile floor. It landed on its top and broke the .010 E string. The bridge pins on the G, B, and E strings were pushed below where a pin puller (on a string winder) would not work. I used a small screw driver to encourage those pins out and put on a new set of strings. This guitar survived the fall with not cracks in the structure or finish. It tuned right up and seems none the worse for its ordeal. I am pleased and impressed with its toughness.

Comments about Epiphone DR-100 Acoustic Guitar:

I bought this guitar in the Autumn of 2013 when I was teaching middle school aged students. I wanted an inexpensive guitar for them to use during instruction and to determine whether I would feel comfortable recommending it. It is a little heavier, the neck feels a little larger, and it has a different tone than my 10+ year old Martin, but I like it. It can be strummed, picked, and barre chorded. I've not noticed fret buzz, even with enthusiastic strumming. I like the sunburst finish and it held up well over 9 months of use. I just got it back out of the closet a few days ago after taking a year off from teaching. It tuned right up and seems to stay there very well. This really is a very nice guitar for the price.

Yet another surprising Epiphone value....it might sound like I'm being paid for this, but I keep buying Epi acoustics and electrics just because they are an incredible value.(five) Had many Gibsons, don't find any difference, except the price.

This was a nice buy and was very pleased. Would buy another one if needed. The other reviews stated neck had warping problems, and there is a little but not enough to be concerned with. Was able to adjust truss rod, which will need to done , and also the screws on tuning keys will need to be secured at same tightness or they will never stay in tune. Mine so far has not lost tune in two weeks and I play it daily. I gave this guitar a high rating based on low price and excellent sound . I have been playing for years and have handlled many. Yes, change the strings. I started with martins and they do well.

Comments about Epiphone DR-100 Acoustic Guitar:

I bought this used from another seller. I wanted an art project guitar -- something to custom paint and hang on the wall for decoration.

It was described as having a bad neck set, and I paid half of the price of a new one. However, I was surprised at how minor the issue is. The neck is slightly warped, but this only affects notes on two frets of the high E string. Otherwise, it plays very well. The bridge is solid. There is low action right out of the box.

Yes, the strings are cheap, and yes, the sound is flat. Yes, the tuners are on the cheap end -- but you can't expect anything more from a guitar at this price. It feels and plays well, stays in tune, and the sound is better than most guitars in this price range. For the money, it's a good value for a beginner, or as a second guitar to take to the beach or play around the campfire.
