gets a 10 from me and I am hard to please! Plays great right out of the case, beautiful sound, looks are very appealing, (I love the color blends) neck straight, action low which I like, makes this guitar easy to play. The strings could be better but they work, the Epi case fits perfect, the pickup not bad I may fool around with this later on and string bending is no issue with this guitar at all, covers acoustic and electric all in one nice package, I would buy another one without any hesitation.
I just received my Lennon Epiphone ej 160 e and a hardshell case, also Epiphone, and I have read all the previous comments. Here are mine; the guitar was shipped in the case not separate and right out of the case this guitar is beautiful. I tuned it in with no trouble, the action is great (any lower and it would buzz for sure) hard strumming, no problem. There was mention the width of the neck could be troublesome, no issues at all and I don't have large hands, don't be afraid to buy this guitar for that reason. The tuners did not buzz and I hit this thing hard unplugged and plugged in. It plays easily. I have been playing for 54 years (started when I was 5 years old) and have many guitars in my collection, I love this guitar. I have Taylor's, Breedlove's, music man, Gibson's, other Epiphones, Taks and fenders, this plays as good if not better then a few of the more very expensive guitars. I plugged in to a peavey TNT bass amp as I also play fretless base and you want that buzz like Lennon had, no problem! It sounds great. It doesn't sound like the original with the strings that it comes with but don't be discouraged, I put phosphor bronze coated lights on and it sounds wonderful, Better then my expensive Taylor unplugged, you will need electric/acoustics for the real sound for sure, but I don't really care about that it's that close! I was skeptical about this guitar and knew I could sell it for what I paid but this guitar will stay with me until my will comes into play! Buy this guitar, you will not be disappointed I can't wait to head out to the next gig with this, it's impressive and sounds great. There are no issues with this instrument , but again it's brand new and time will tell, but for now I got a sweetheart a beautiful one at that and at a very nice price! Enjoy, and if you buy one, you will not be dissapointed.
no flaws at all, plays great
You can not buy a guitar like this anywhere else for this money

I am debating on weather or not to sell this. I am not trying to recreate the sound of the Beatles, I just wanted a good acoustic-electric guitar to play.

Plugged in this guitar is just awful. The pickup is weak and terribly noisy. I have tried electric strings on it and they didn't help at all, in fact they dulled the overall sound. So I went to a mix of electric and acoustic strings, the 3 lower strings are acoustic-bronze and the 3 higher strings are electric. Wow sounds great; it even has a bit of that jangly sound. While I was changing the strings I decided to see if the bridge was shimmed and sure enough there was a plastic strip under the bridge. Removed that and now the action is great. So what I have is a great sounding, playing and looking acoustic guitar but a terrible guitar when amplified. My 40 year old Ovation that's been glued back together totally blows this out of the water when plugged in. I'm thinking of trying a noise gate or even replacing the pickup if it makes financial sense and doesn't alter the appearance of the guitar.

As has been mentioned, this guitar is perhaps 10% to expensive. People are paying for the John Lennon signature on the side, which personally I wish wasn't there. Any way, it's a nice looking and sounding guitar, it just fails when amplified.

Was hesitant on buying an Epiphone, Considerin I have almost Always played taks/Martins/or Seagull.. Coulden't Believe my Ears or Hands. This Guitar is perfect! No Flaws, better than Amazing Tone.. Antyone who is in the market to get an acoustic guitar should consider this one. You will not be unsatisfied at all. I am considering getting another for my studio setup and change strings up to get different 60-70 sounds. Also any Beatles Fan will be getting an almost identical sound in which MR.Lennion himself chose to use. Don't Hesitate just by one.. There great!Dont forget a Humidifier with this Guitar they are way to special to let anyone of em to crack or Dry out.. Case A must!

Just holding this guitar is inspirational. I had the string action lowered by my technician--it was a little high for my liking, but I imagine Epiphone allows that wiggle room for those who may like it well enough with the factory settings. It is a very well made instrument and my technician noted how perfectly straight the neck is. And with me being a huge Beatles fan, I couldn't want any acoustic more or be happier than I am with this fantastic guitar. It is a dream to play and I love the sound--very familiar sound indeed.

I bought this guitar on 1/8/2014. Mine was crafted in Indonesia, june 2013. Let me tell you that this guitar is TRULY insane, when I tested it at the store, I knew it was for me. It sounds beautiful, and it feels great. When I got it, the action was a little high, but once I asked the guys from the store to lower it a little, this baby started playing even better.

When you plug it into the amp, it makes a little buzzing, but not a big deal, not like you can not stand it.

The guitar comes in a very cared shape, nothing has broke or anything, it is truly amazing. If you are thinking on buying this baby, don't wait for it!

P.S: Although I think the guitar is slightly overpriced (maybe because I bought it in Oslo), but it is definitely worth it!

Beautiful guitar, easy to play right out of the box. I changed the strings lowered the action and woooowhoooo what a difference. I love this guitar it's sounds and plays just as good as my Martin. I bought a EJ200 a couple of months ago and I wouldn't trade the EJ160 for two of those. But let me verify the EJ200 is a great guitar I just like this one better. The 200 has a much more mellow sound. The John Lennon is great for performing live, I play it through a acoustic Marshall 100wt combo, a great combination. They are set up in Nashville but I like the strings closer to the neck, and I like Martin strings better. I got a great deal on this guitar and case, Ty musicians friend, you have and are a good friend to me.

This guitar even though not a Gibson is great straight out of the case. I changed the strings I like Eric Clapton signature martin light ga. It was set up in Nashville and they did a great job. Very easy to play I have a Gibson j200 and believe it or not I like this Epophone j160 better. It has character and the finish is beautiful. I've been looking at this guitar for a long time, if I knew it was this good I would have bought it a lone time ago. John would have been proud. I played some old Beatle tunes and it was amazing if anyone who reads this and had second thoughts don't worry it's all good. I love it!!

Bought this guitar in December of 05. It was impressive out of the box. My first purchase from MF and I've been satisfied ever since.
Set up was really great upon arrival.
                      Surprising.

I played this guitar for months until it worked it's way to the basement.

I recently went looking for this guitar, dug it out and was blown away by how mellow the tone had become with age. I pick this guitar up several time a week now. Fantastic sound from such an inexpensive (affordable) guitar.

This is a far better guitar than I expected as far as quality of materials and playability...except the action at the bridge end is far too high and the saddle will have to be shaved to lower it. I did adjust the truss rod as much as I want to - almost all the way tight - and the action off the high end is still far too high - near 1/4" - and I will take the saddle down when I change the strings shortly. Plays beautifully at the low end, and not bad farther up. Sound is BEAUTIFUL unplugged even with the junk strings on it. The flaws are MINOR, and over all the guitar is a bargain and will be my performing guitar.
