This is a guitar built only for brutal metal. I have the '58 Goth and these are two very different guitars. The Futura has a deeper access cut on the treble side of the neck for the high frets, and the bottom cutaway by the controls is deeper so its more comfortable to play when sitting. The Futura is a little narrower. Apparently, this guitar was made in Indonesia. The back of neck is finished in a satin black; the rest of the guitar is gloss. The neck is thin and flat; I thought the Goth felt a little wider. The EMGs are no surprise. I haven't peeked inside, but I'm sure the top is veneer. The Floyd and EMGs add some weight, and there are no strap-locks, so beware. This is a very nice modern metal guitar, but this is among the most expensive Epiphones. I would say that the Prophecy series is a cut above the Jacksons in the same price range, and better than an ESP because of the classic shape and style.

Just had the tax refund thought this would be interesting addition , that at worst would require a total rebuild. I was basically correct, the pickup selector switch was broken and the action was so high at 24th fret just wasn't playable. Thinking that the fairly high-end hardware and price would mean a decent guitar that just would need some work. Well it needs work and is certainly not the mid 60s Explorer I once owned and it never will be, but with some work and some money it will eventually be a fine guitar.Going to replace pickups add a couple switches to change sound(series/split/parallel wiring) No idea why the bridge isn't recessed to allow for pulling. Had to shim the nut to remove buzz on first fret set the intonation and totally change the height of the bridge guess it was that high to allow for a bit of pull?? If you have some skill in repair or have a great guitar tech this isn't a bad deal, but guitars made in China basically are crap and it is sad that Epiphone has fallen so far from grace.

Comments about Epiphone Futura Prophecy Custom FX Electric Guitar with Floyd Rose Tremolo:
Overall, I regret ever ordering this pos, and I feel sorry for those who gave this axe a good rating, they obviously never had a good pro series guitar like Jackson, Ibanez, or gibson.
I didn't do my home work on this one from the start,....made in china, first mistake. China makes crap. The toggle switch felt cheap, as if it would break off, if used enough. Knobs were sluggish,...tuning keys were flimsy, and cheap as well. The strings that came with it were almost rotted, and severely discolored, so I put fresh strings on. In addition,..the fr trem was also hard to tune, and keep that way, It didn't seem to be of the same quality as my Jackson KER5. As soon as you tune it, and lock the nut, it goes back out of tune.
Mine arrived in a cheap flimsy box, with just a bit of bubble wrap around the headstock. Upon examining the guitar, I noticed several dings in the finish, and a huge linear ripple on the top just behind the pick guard. I could not hear a distinguishable amount of crunch from the EMG's, vs passive pick ups, and it was run thru an HD 100 spider 4 half stack. A great amp! In fact any 300 dollar axe would probably have equaled this one, in playability, feel, and sound.
I've seen BC rich's (Warlock) w/ fr trem, in my local music store for half the price of this guitar, and the BC's felt, played, and sounded much better, and I hate bc rich.
Comments about Epiphone Futura Prophecy Custom FX Electric Guitar with Floyd Rose Tremolo:
I bought this guitar, not as the Futura one, but the Marcus Henderson Apparation, which is basicaly the same, really. Let's start witht the neck shall we. First, the neck is fantasic. Ths Speed Taper witht the satin finsh, it is extremely fast. The pointy thing on the underside pervents me from gettting to the 23rd and 24th frets esaily, Its more difficult. Not a problem, i don't usually get there. The body is just outstanding. The Quilted Maple is drop dead gorgeous. The kill button is nice. The Folyd, a real one on mine is perfect. The EMG'S got the classic crunch. They're the ones like you see on Hammett and Hetfield's guitars and other various players. It's a fairly heavy body. Kinda of a pain. The G string when i got, was broken. But the Floyd kept it on and in tune. Perfect guitar for about anyone who can play.

Plays great right out of the box. Always wanted an Explorer and at half the price of the Gibson, you can't go wrong. Floyd Rose takes more time to tune the first time, but you learn to work with it and you can fine tune it easy enough.
Comments about Epiphone Futura Prophecy Custom FX Electric Guitar with Floyd Rose Tremolo:
This guitar is fairly good the pickups sound amazing especially the neck. But the floyd is practilly useless because you can't pull up on it. The heel on the neck is terrible, I have short fingers but when I'm standing up I can't even reach past the 19 fret on the high e string let alone go to a lower string. Other than that this guitar is almost worth it.
Comments about Epiphone Futura Prophecy Custom FX Electric Guitar with Floyd Rose Tremolo:
Don't let anybody tell you this guitar's no good. I got this guitar about 9 months ago. It's a GREAT guitar, but it's got a few drawbacks. It's beautiful, it's got a fast neck, and the locking system works. But what makes it annoying is the fact that it takes about 10 minutes to tune from one tuning to another because when you clamp down the locks on the neck the guitar goes out of whack and the strings never stay in place, so getting it to stay in tuning takes forever. Other than that, the only fault I can find in this guitar is that it's only got one tone knob. I'd really love to have two for more sweet sounding tones but whatever. This guitar is near perfect, but I recommend getting it without the locking system unless you plan on sticking to one tuning or love soloing with the whammy bar.

sounds great, but is falling apart on me. First the upper strap peg fell out, which wasnt horrible cause i hated the location anyway, should have been behind the neck, which is where i moved it to which was stupid and voided the warrenty for when the bridge pegs pulled out (oh and the trem spring plate screws pulled out of the wood too they were apparently installed bent)
Comments about Epiphone Futura Prophecy Custom FX Electric Guitar with Floyd Rose Tremolo:
This is a great guitar it has good pickups fast action and a crazy smooth neck its thin but not to thin(the satin finish also adds to the smoothness)anyhow it looks great and the floyd rose is an enjoyable feature but the staplocks that come with this guitar suck and so do the alan wrenches to unlock the locking nut (which might need tightening when you first buy this guitar)also the little thing on the back of the headstock that holds the alan wrenches is really lose and annoying but those are only a few minor problems all in all this guitar is great and deffinently worth buying it sounds a million times better than my old epiphone korina explorer and it looks cooler too get it!!
