This guitar stirs the soul. I saw the live performances of stairway to heaven and was of course mezmorized by this magnificent instrument. I always thought, maybe someday, I could get one. Soon "maybe" turned into "as soon as soon as possible." I'm in highshool, and durning summer break, I got a job pretty much for the sole purpose of getting money for this guitar. I went into the guitar store and there it was on the wall. The guy there let me play it, and I was sure, I had to have it. I of course began playing Stairway, and then I looked up, and there was a mural of Jimmy Page playing the very same guitar. It was a sign from the rock gods, and I knew I needed the guitar. A few weeks later, I walked back into that store and bought my new axe. I lowered the action, and viola! a choice work of art. The guitar is astheticly very pleasing, featuring a beautiful maple vaneer, and very well done abalone inlays. I play in a band and after bringing this bad boy to rehearsal, I had the other guitarist wanting one for himself. I've had the axe for just a few day, but already, I am famous around school for having it. they all just stare in disbelieve, and salivate a bit. obviously, it's a bit neck heavy, but it's well worth it, and a good thivk leather strap, this is quite easy to get used to. True, it's not a gibson, but it still has that classic stairway tone, and the six string has all the crunch and bie you'd expect from an sg. I have five guitars, and I like all of them for different reasons, but this one really trumps them all. Whenever I even begin to describe this guitar to someone, whether or not they know anything about gitars, they are extremely impressed. I'm playing my first gig with it tomorrow and I can't wait. If you are considering buying an electric 12 string, I highly suggest this one. it is the best feeling elecric twelve I've played, although I'll admit, I haven't played too many. I really love this guitar, and I'm sure you will too. email me if you have any questions, I'd love to spread the joy of this fantastic instrument.

I've always been a ZEP fan so the guitar appealed to me. I was surprised how light it was for a double neck but it still has good sustain.I have one of the original 'limited edition' models and had it for about 3 years.Tuners: Plastic - will eventually crack but the guitar stays in tune very well.Pickups: No punch whatsover. I'm going to have to replace all 4. At best I would describe the sound as "muddy".Wish: I wish the 2 necks had been reversed in position.Action: Is good considering the neck impediments.Make sure you gave a wide guitar stand and long strap. Its a little awkward to balance. The best feature was the finish.

Affordable, and GREAT!!

Comments about Epiphone G-1275 Double-Neck Custom Electric Guitar:

This guitar is perfect for a guitarist whose main inspiration is guitarists who used the doubleneck and or 12-string, and it's at a very affordable. The polishing on the guitar is amazing, its waaaay easy to do slide work, but the strings can act as a hindrance on that, but it's not that hard to change them. The tone on this soooo incredible. the pickups on the 6-string get a nice crunch, something i didnt expect from an epiphone(no offense); and the humbuckers on the 12-string are mindblowing. I highly recommend sparing the $ and buying this guitar....YOU"LL LOVE IT

This guitar is a Novelty!

Comments about Epiphone G-1275 Double-Neck Custom Electric Guitar:

I have played this guitar and please take my word on this, its fun to mess around with but not to waste 1100 bucks on! The quality isnt too bad for an epiphone, and it has nice sustain, but you cant axis the upper frets. Because of that, the entire unit is complete garbage. If you have the money to waste, I recommend the Gibson.

Not the same as the Gibson

Comments about Epiphone G-1275 Double-Neck Custom Electric Guitar:

This is an amazing rig for the price (keyword), but when I see folks say it's the same thing as the Gibson just thousands less in price and the headstock logo says Gibson instead of Epi.they really are very wrong. The pick ups, volume and tone pots, wiring, necks, bridges and tailpieces are all different to name a few things. The parts used in the Epi are all overseas stuff, like the whole guitar is. Where as the Gibby is ALL made in the U.S. with traditional parts, pick ups, pots and wiring etc. It sounds way better, especially at high/giging volumes and the overall build and feel are so much better on the Gibson that it makes for an easier and faster playing guitar. For the money this is still a great deal, but at high volume it muds up, the neckes are slow and the tone pots really don't change the tone much, they just muffle it when turned all the way down. To get this to sound just like the Gibby your gonna have to put a grand into it and it will still just be a hot rodded Epi...really play both and you decide why there is a big price difference. Looks don't add up to sound, tone, build, playability and performance. If it did we'd all play cheap Chinese knock offs.

Good Quality Guitar But More of a Novelty

Comments about Epiphone G-1275 Double-Neck Custom Electric Guitar:

I bought mine used, and it is worth it. The guitar is actually pretty comfortable to play sitting down. Both necks have a real nice feel. The electronics leave a lot to be desired for me. I will change them out if I end up playing it more than just occasionally. It might come in handy if you do a lot of playing live but I am a studio musician and would not use it there. I have other guitars with a lot better sound that are easier to play. It was just something that was a good price that I could add to my collection. I doubt you would be dissapointed in buying one of these.
Good quality guitar.

Ask me a question

Comments about Epiphone G-1275 Double-Neck Custom Electric Guitar:

I have played this guitar at a differant shop and the only thing that kept me from buying it was i wanted the Gibson Les Paul. I have owned Epiphone guitars in the past and they are very good instruments. You can't compare an Epiphone to a Gibson, The Electronics differ. The necks very a little and the finish isn't the same. However, the Epiphone guitars will last as long as a Gibson if you change the electronics. The sustain is good and you can rock the house just the same. Make guitars so when a 11 or 12 year old wants to become the next Eddie Van Halen, He can.

Comments about Epiphone G-1275 Double-Neck Custom Electric Guitar:

Well about 4 years ago I was looking to buy a sg with 3 humbuckers, and the day I walked into the shop to purchase this sg with the 3 humbuckers, i noticed hanging above me was this double neck guitar. I looked at it, and then I looked at the sg with the 3 humbuckers and grabbed the double neck. that was probably the biggest mistake i have made yet in my young life. At the ripe old age of 11 i guess I wasn't thinking ahead or anything of the sort, so I purchased it. For the next two weeks all that I played was that guitar, when I realized i had NO axis to the upper frets. This posed a problem so I decided to try and sell it... well 4 years later rolls around, and today I finally traded it for a Marshall Class 5 amp. The price difference is quite notable. BOTTOM LINE? should have got an amp.

How can you go wrong? Gibson quality at a not so outrageous price! It's wonderful now an up and coming musician like myself has access to a genuine piece of equipment, that can take stage performance and presence to higher levels - without taking a loan out on my life. Excellent to say the least!

Comments about Epiphone G-1275 Double-Neck Custom Electric Guitar:

Great two in one sound. You have the 12 strings for the big sound and the six strings for that S.G. punch. I Would like to have the P-90`s on the six strings like the Pete Townshend signature I have. A little heavy but I added to the strap an extention to the 12 string nut area. This helps to keep the guitar from being top heavy. Great crowd pleaser.

Comments about Epiphone G-1275 Double-Neck Custom Electric Guitar:

first of all,if your a zep fan,its a must have.its an awsome guitar. it plays so sweetly,i cant get over it.the soldering comes a little messed up everynow and then, but could be my cables, they suck. it comes out of tune on the second fret on the G string, on the 12-string,but could be uneven frets,or not intonated rite.but i cant get it rite so oh well.its awfully unbalnced, just is,its not too hard to keep it up though, just play it,or rig it like an acoustic and put one cache on the side and one on the headstock. its kind of a pain to change the strings, mostly cause there is so much, but its always been that way,now its just to the power of 3(18 strings). this is an awsome guitar,if you want a nice acoustic 12-string for an affordable price, this thing rocks, especially wiht 2 guitar in one. if you just want a 12 string though, spend the extra cash and get a rickenbacker.

Comments about Epiphone G-1275 Double-Neck Custom Electric Guitar:

I had searched for a Gibson 6-12 for a long, long time. When I found one there was no way I could afford it. Then I saw the EPI and decided to give it a shot. I purchased this guitar 7 years ago and have played in several bands with this as my main guitar. I love this guitar in the studio as I have recorded several songs with this guitar. Excellent sound, quality, and control. It's a little heavy @ times, but that's the price you pay to have twice as much guitar as the other guy!

Comments about Epiphone G-1275 Double-Neck Custom Electric Guitar:

Great guitar. I have played the gibson verson and I think that this is just as good of a guitar for a lot less money. I have had mine for about 3 years and the only problem I had with it was the nut on the 12 string neck broke. I had it replaced and it sounded better than ever. The guitar has great action on both necks and sounds great anyway you play it. If you have always been a fan of this guitar get it, you will not regret it.

Comments about Epiphone G-1275 Double-Neck Custom Electric Guitar:

Out of all the guitars I own (and that's more than a few) this is by far the most versatile. Once set up, playability is great, even though it's a bit on the bulky side (but that's something you get used to. Do yourself a favor and pick up a suede strap because this thing is pretty tp-heavy). The tuning on the 6-string neck holds well, which is no surprise for a fixed bridge instrument. But I was very surprised to find that the 12-string neck is rock-solid in holding it's tuning as well. And the 12-string neck is slightly wider than the 6-string, which makes switching between the two necks a breeze. I give it 8 stars instead of 10 for two reasons, though. First, only having 20 frets takes quite a bit of getting used to, and you may have to re-think some of your solos in order for them to work. Second, the pickups really need to be hotter. Compared to my Jacksons and Les Paul (all of which have Seymour Duncans), the stock pickups are significantly softer (and raising them to be equal causes the strings to buzz against them at the higher frets). Also, the 6-string neck tends to lean towards the mid-rangey side of the tone scale. These can be worked around, because the 12-string sounds great. And the lack of higher frets is only an annoyance when you first get the guitar. Bottom line - you need to trade-off something to have an instrument this versatile. And it's actually closer to Jimmy Page's customized Gibson, and more playable, than the stock Gibson version is, for a third of the price. If you're thinking of it, go for it. You won't regret it.

Comments about Epiphone G-1275 Double-Neck Custom Electric Guitar:

last time I played one of these, it was back in the late 60' when I open for Jimi Page and Led Zeppelin. I was in The Shakes back then and toured extensively. Of course, the Man had the Gibson version. I choose to get the epiphone because it looked JUST AS great and was built with a great piece of wood. But for the novice, i would advise to buy a guitar or ANY INSTRUMENT for the matter just like buying shoes, you can have 200 pairS coming from the same manufacturing process, but not two of them fit the same. this is especially true for instruments that rely on wood resonance for tone. i never got dissapointed with anything i got from them yet... WORD TO THE WISE !!!GERRY.

Pleasantly surprised

By Brent-a8vZ6

Comments about Epiphone G-1275 Double-Neck Custom Electric Guitar:

First off, I have to say that I'm a Gibson/Fender snob and only play on vintage equipment so I was hesitant about buying Epi but the Gibson version is way out of my price range. I have to say, I was really surprised with how well it plays. The neck was set up nicely, no buzzing, intonation was good and the thing stays in tune!! Output levels are matched nicely between the 12 and 6 necks so switching is seamless. Yes it's heavy, but it's got 2 necks, what do you expect. The balance is an issue at first but you learn to compensate fairly quickly.Couple of things I don't like: tuning pegs are way too sensitive and the sensitivity is not uniform among all the pegs...plan on replacing them but not a big deal because, like I said, it stays in tune. Bridges were flimsy and not firmly affixed to the body so I had them replaced with Gibson ones. Tone knobs are also poor, you can't hear any difference between 4 and 10. Finally, and in my opinion, the most pressing issue are the pickups. Yes they're hot and sound ok when moderately driven, but when cranked, clarity is an issue. The neck pickups are very muddy when driven and, in my opinion, are pretty much useless (I play through a Fender Tremolux head and Hiwatt cab). I will be replacing the pickups with p94's.That said, I think the guitar is still a good buy and would certainly buy one again if my mine were ripped.

Comments about Epiphone G-1275 Double-Neck Custom Electric Guitar:

I have owned an Epiphone double-neck since 2000. It sounds as wonderful as the day I bought it. It is versatile as far as playing styles from rock to country and has beautiful tone and string. I especially love the way I can get neat sounds out of the pickups and compose my own music. It is one of the best guitars I have ever owned. It has never need strobed and stays in tune nicely. Because this has been such a great guitar, I would purchase another Epiphone. Great guitar!!!

Comments about Epiphone G-1275 Double-Neck Custom Electric Guitar:

My Uncle just got this guitar today and brought it over, I'm not sure if it is the exact one here because the one he just got had a flame maple vener, and I read nothing about that here. The only flaw on the whole guitar was that the 6-stringed neck had a slight bow, that muted the bottom three strings abit when playing up from the 12th fret. We played it through my Crate GT30. The 12 string had a tone that reminded me abit of a piano, the 12 string neck was really wide and comfortable. The six string sounded like my uncles Gibson Les Paul Standard but with a brighter tone, I was getting some great metal tones from it in the Solo channel on my amp with the gain all the way up, and some killer blues sounds in the clean channel, and the Solo when I rolled off the gain. I was surprised to fined out that the guitar was made of alder, it had all the warmth, bite, and sustain of mahogany. The flamed veneer is beautiful, as is the whole guitar. I don't think the inlays on the headstock or fretboard are mother of pearl, but it imitates it well. The only thing I did'nt like about the looks was the binding was bright white, instead of cream colored.

Comments about Epiphone G-1275 Double-Neck Custom Electric Guitar:

This guitar is beautiful for how much you pay. It si a show piece and a great sounding guitar at the same time. The first thing I like about this guitar is the pickup selector on the 12 string which rhe gbson does not have, this will give you a world of different sounds. However the 6 sting by my opinion needs some adustments from the box, most of these are action and pickup hight. But for the money BUY IT unless your a super picky person im talking OCD picky you wont regret buying this guitar i promise

Great guitar, but it didn't start that way. Brought it to my tech when I fell in love with the tone. He loved the finish but the necks and frets both needed work. Oh yeah, and I had a devil of a time finding a case for it. With the fret/neck work and finally a case I have a 'keeper' that will be with me for the rest of my life.
