Overall, this guitar is pretty good. Replacing the pick ups might be something you would need to do. Other than that, this guitar rocks! Check out my video demo for this guitar!

Mine is a 2005 Vintage White, but somehow it isn't like any other Vintage White Epiphone SG310. Mine is more cream, and turned a darker cream in spots. It is fading really quick, witch is strange. I took off the Made in China sticker now, and its a white under neath, not a cream and also there was a sticker on back of the body and that was taken off and same, so they messed up with the paint and clear on this one! On the neck they messed up painting, a section about 4 inches long, is a different regular white and like drippy look, like spray paint. I am suprised it passed the inspection! It is a comfortable guitar, but the worse sounding humbuckers ever made. I have played a few, and they all sound horrible. If you switch the humbuckers and maybe throw on Grovers, it would be perfect.

Comments about Epiphone G-310 SG Electric Guitar:

so i bought this guitar about 5 years ago, it was one of the very first guitars i had ever bought by myself, so there is a little pride in me when i see it. everytime i look at this guitar it holds memories. my first gigs, band, ect ect. now realize that after 5 years anything is going to wear down a little. so straight out of the package into a laney 100 watt. perfect bliss, i insantly fell in love with it. the guitar can give you a wide variety of tones if you know how to rig it and your amp the right way. quality built, after 5 years the only damage done is i had to replace the pickguard and the neck binding is slightly loose. i compared it to a gibson sg standard. the sounding is very alike but the epiphone had a more treble tone to it. its a sweet looking guitar for beginners and experienced alike. it wont dissapoint.

Comments about Epiphone G-310 SG Electric Guitar:

I own a Gibson SG Standard which I play out with and leave in a Jam room that we rent, so I had bought this guitar used for 100 dollars at a music store so I could practice at home on some riffs. I set it up the the way I liked it and it was great the neck was really nice and straight, the action I set at Medium, really good, Stays in Tune with 10 gauge strings, the Feel was great! The pickups had plenty of power, but were Muddy for my taste, just not the sound I was looking for, I play alot of Classic Rock, Zepplin, Queen, Sammy Hagar, that kind of stuff. So I put a set of Gibson pickups (490R Bridge and 498T Neck) (thats what used to come in older Gibsons) and I was blown away. Now granted the Gibson SG Quality is far superior, but after installing those pickups in the Epiphone G-310 I have to admit to you, as far as the sound, I can't tell the difference. If you plan on buying this guitar, it's well worth the price even brand new. Depending on your type of music, depends on your upgrades. Good Luck!!

Comments about Epiphone G-310 SG Electric Guitar:

Very good guitar for the money. Had bought a squire tele and thin long neck did not work with short fat fingers. Anyway got it right trading in the tele, dropped the action and set the pick-up's. Not a set neck but it is what it is. Fun to play and a little hotter sound than the 490 and 498. You'll to very happy with one of these!

Comments about Epiphone G-310 SG Electric Guitar:

This is my first Epi, first SG, and I am impressed. Bought it sight unseen off eBay. It arrived in good shape, almost set-up. The "white" is more cream, like everyone says, I think it looks good. This guitar was put together well, no sharp edges, nice strings, even finish-all same shade of cream. It is comfortable to hold sitting down. The tuners are fine-Grovers. No upgrade needed there. I don'e think the set neck vs the bolt on would be a problem for most folks. Get one!

Comments about Epiphone G-310 SG Electric Guitar:

I've got several other $,$$$ guitars at home, including a Gibson SG Standard. I bought this at a local shop because I'm living in a hotel for a few months for work, and am very pleasantly surprised by it. It has issues staying in tune and the plastic tip on the pickup switch broke off after about 3 weeks, but other than that it is a real joy to play. I've been playing it through a Roland Microcube, and the pickups actually sound pretty darn good, both clean and distorted. The action is not horrible either without a setup. I would definitely recommend this over a Squier to a beginner based on it's sound and build quality.

One irrelevant interesting thing I noticed was that the bridge is beneath the pickguard. I've not seen this on any other SGs (there may be some, but I've not seen them) and I find it's placement to be rather comfy.

Great Starter, Go a step up

      By blenderman345

Comments about Epiphone G-310 SG Electric Guitar:

This is a nice starter guitar, but I recommend taking one step up to the G-400 because it has nicer tuners, nicer pickups, and a better neck. The bolt on neck on this guitar caused it to break when I left it in a car overnight. My mistake, but I'm sure a better guitar might have withstood it . Besides that, this is a great starter guitar.

Comments about Epiphone G-310 SG Electric Guitar:

I have a black left handed G 310. Mine is used, and it would be pretty amazing if it was set up good and the tuners were swapped. When im not battling to keep it in tune, and when the neck isnt bending and putting it out of tune from little pressure, it sounds pretty good!

I changed the bridge pickup on mine (highly suggested), and now it sounds like a real SG. Im a hard/blues rock and rockabilly/country guitar player, and it gets the job done if you have some patience. Thats all I can really say about it.

Much more than a starter guitar

      By Headcase09

Comments about Epiphone G-310 SG Electric Guitar:

I traded an Epi 5 string banjo for my 310, and I can say it's the best decision I've ever made in my music career. The action is a little high for some, but in return, it's the only guitar-sub $500 that didn't have a dead fret anywhere on the neck. An excellent guitar for chords or solos alike. Bends are beautiful on this. The pickups are hot, but also surprisingly clean. I have a 66' SG-400 reissue as well, though I find myself playing this one more.

Not a bad guitar sounds decent alder body bolt on neck kind of reminds me of some fender models when it comes to material, that's not a bad thing. Playability is great. My tuning peg broke but an easy fix this guitar is worth the money but upgrade the tuners , bridge pup eventually and this would play and sound like a more expensive guitar. I have had mine over 6years tuning peg and pick up all replaced looks great the red is very red though but this is a great guitar for the money and easy to upgrade

I bought this guitar to use for my new metalcore band I was joining. But, when I got it the bridge pickup just would not put out the sounds and volume I needed it too. So I changed the bridge pickup to an emg 81. This now sounds fantastic. But the only problem I have is that the nut broke when I changed the strings. Also, that the bolt on neck is a pain. When moving around on stage I noticed that the pitches I played would bend and stretch due to the bolt on neck. I really like this guitar, but I suggest you get the g400. Much better guitar and much more worth the price.

Comments about Epiphone G-310 SG Electric Guitar:

I am a mid-range guitarist and I play mostly Hard Rock/Metal and a bit of Classical Metal. This guitar is just amazing. It isn't the most metal guitar out there, but that is mainly because of the pickups. Put a Seymour Duncan Dimebucker in there and you have a perfect Metal sound, use the toggle switch to go back to the stock pickup and it sounds amazing clean as well. This is almost as good as my friends Gibson SG. This guitar is just...amazing.

Comments about Epiphone G-310 SG Electric Guitar:

The Epiphone 310 was my first guitar and served the purpose well. With it I encountered electronic and pick-up problems occasionally that were simple fixes like loose screws or wires. Mine was strange in that some days the tone was easier to adjust or it was easier to tune. The tone is very dark and round through tube and solid state amps but can have nice twang for bluesy rock tones. Warmth is hard to find, but the sound is very clean with little buzz. Standard hit or miss by Epiphone.

The G-310 is a good guitar, especially for the money you pay for it. The way to get the best sound out of it is to change the machine heads and maybe the pickups, but it's honestly a very good guitar. The ONLY complaint I have is that it goes out of tune faster then other guitars usually do.

This is an amazing guitar. When I bought it from my local music shop, I was looking for the g400. But listen, this guitar does the job. I'm a metal player and play many genres but metal is what I spend the majority of my time on. And I have to tell you this guitar holds it together. Shocking really. Only complaint is that the stock bridge pickup is awful for taking gain. It gave under the pressure of my line 6 amp. Overall, if you put an EMG 81 in the bridge, you are looking at a potent metal machine.

Comments about Epiphone G-310 SG Electric Guitar:

This guitar is worth buying! If you want a cheap guitar that'll last or one to upgrade then here you go it might need some adjusting when you get it but nothing to major it's pretty much playable right when you get it. it stays in tune very well. Now the thing that makes this different from any other SG is the neck is a bolt on so it's more of an SG with a Les Paul neck. Great for beginners to intermediate players. I would recommend it to advanced players, but if your that good then you would want a Gibson or a higher grade Epiphone.
