I have owned my Epiphone les paul G-400 custom for about 2yrs now and i love it! The build quality is very nice, the antique ivory finish is very sturdy and looks amazing. The sound quality out of the three humbuckers is fantastic, and the different tonal combinations are endless. There is a couple of problems with this guitar though, When i got mine there was a fracture on the neck were it meets the body. I sent mine back and my new one is perfect but if this guitar is ever dropped the nek would probobly break like my old one. This is because the neck is mounted in a way it create ideal playing ability on the lower frets. This guitar also has a bad case of neck dive when you wear it with a strap.

I played this guitar in a local shop yesterday. I saw it was an epiphone and picked it up and just messed around with it some. Put it into alot of amps, tubes and SS ones. It is okay if you are a beginner i guess, but i am so used to the fast action of my warlock. I am a guitar player that does alot of metal, and i need the fastests, smoothest neck i can find. This neck was not bad, dont get me wrong. It just wasn't what I was looking for. The pickups were also kind of in the way and not all that great. A 3 way toggle alone is not for me, i need to switch on 2 different ones or all 3 or any of that. The difference between rhythm and lead is subtle also.

    Great price and totally satisfied.
This guitar really does have it all. The humbucker pickups are great... And there are 3 of them.
Good paint job and does not fall apart.
    Good value.

    1960's reissue Custom Les Paul

Comments about Epiphone G-400 Custom Electric Guitar:

This is not the main line as of now it's an early 1960's Les Paul before the SG was created from this model later in the 1960's. Les Paul recreated the modern Les Paul shape that was out of production in the early 60's. I'm happy that I own this piece of history and I enjoy playing it. The G-400 is keeping my rythm open and I'm staying away from palm muting enjoying the tone that is unusual yet standard. The bridge is a lot different than a Fender type bridge and when you go to the action of the strings Gibson blows away Fender. By far the lady getter is the Gibson and if you want to play out don't waste your money on anything but a Gibson.
I have Jackson Professional and Squier Limited Edition Semi-Hollow body Electric Guitars and I wanted something in between something with character like the Squeir LE and rock sound of the Jackson Pro. The G-400 is it, and surpassed the sound of both guitars in the mix of my recordings and is now my main guitar. It's a real feature to have a guitar that actually sounds like money.
The G-400 only dives when you're not making love to it. The only problem is that I'm not always playing it and it rests down by my hand all the time. Cool quality or not? the pickups are not standard sounding they are almost a lost standard. The G-400 is a reissue of an early 1960's Les Paul after Les Paul discontinued his original design.
It's worth a lot more to me than what I paid. The amount of sound I'm getting in my mixes and my amp are jaw dropping. If you know the sound of the "famous" guitar you will understand. This is not a knock off.

Comments about Epiphone G-400 Custom Electric Guitar:

Lets get it out of the way, the guitar has neck dive but as do all SG models. But with the three humbuckers the guitars got sound to it. Not to mention the classic finish of the guitar. For the price its at this guitar is definitley worth the money.

    incredible les paul!!!!

Comments about Epiphone G-400 Custom Electric Guitar:

I have ownd this guitar for about two years now. I love it just as much as i did when i first was it in the store. I see some people complaining about how the Epiphone G-400 Les Paul custom doesn't have any different tonal differences. Those people are out of there minds!!! With three pickups and three volume knobs I can get an infinite number of tonal combinations. The build quality of this ax is on par with the Gibson version and so is the sound. The only problem with this guitar is the outrageous amount of neck-dive when wearing a strap. Other than that you will love this guitar and keep it in your collection until either you or it bite the dust.

    Wow-eeeeeeee!

Comments about Epiphone G-400 Custom Electric Guitar:

Okay, if you play an SG-style guitar already, you know it's characteristics, neck dive, etc. etc. All I can say is that this guitar is the TOP line for Epiphone, matched only by their hollowbodies and acoustics. From my experience, it's great with any number of tones. I use it with a Boss FZ-5 Fuzz pedal but I love it's clean tone too. I leave the surf rock to my Fender though, when you have the more choices, you have to use them.

    Knig of all SGs II

Comments about Epiphone G-400 Custom Electric Guitar:

I have owned this guitar for a year and overall it kicks so much butt, but the pickups are average(in my opinion). I have installed 3 seymour duncan pickups(SH-4JB in Bridge,SH-1 59' in the middle, and SH-6 Distortion in neck.)on my guitar and it really improves the quality.sound, and value of the guitar because if you play it through a Marshall half-stack you get the best sound out of it without any effects. So if you are looking for an sg to buy, get this one. After a while of playing this guitar, try and upgrade either with EMG Active pickups or Seymour Duncans. ERock on to thje ones who rock hard and carry the will of the guitarist in them.

Comments about Epiphone G-400 Custom Electric Guitar:

This is a great guitar. I bought this guitar w/o even playing it from here, and boy, what a great decision. the sound of this guitar can be changed so much, and is amazing clean, and even better distorted. I play it through a crate gtd65, (great amp) and the sound possibilities are endless. I can sweet child o mine, and w/ a few turns of the volume & tone knobs, I can play any metallica. I played my friends gibson sg menace, and mine sounded better, and this blows my rythm guitarists fender strat out of the water. buy this guitar, you wont be disappointed.

Comments about Epiphone G-400 Custom Electric Guitar:

Been using it alot lately. You just have to know thw knobs. The center pickup is on all the time so you need to turn that one down to get the full range of tones. i.e full treble pickup. The setup was good right out of the box. Its a solid guitar. Better that the Gibson standard SG's that are out now.
