OVERVIEW

A Les Paul Standard with f-holes and flame maple top.

The Les Paul Standard is one of the most famous and sought-after electric guitars in the world. And now, Epiphone has added a twist to this classic rocker by including a gorgeous flame maple top with dual "f" holes, and a partially hollowed-out body that gives the legendary Les Paul a fresh upscale look with a lighter, more resonant body. It's the perfect combination of Les Paul sound and Epiphone style. Plus, the LP Standard Florentine PRO features Epiphone acclaimed ProBucker humbucker pickups, both with coil-tapping for a "standard" in looks and performance.

AAA Flame Maple Top and Classic
The Epiphone Ltd Ed Les Paul Standard Florentine PRO features a mahogany body that is carved out with two traditional f-holes for a new look that combines the Les Paul profile with Epiphone's legendary archtops. The Les Paul Florentine PRO features a beautiful AAA flame maple veneer top that delivers the classic LP tone and sustain but with the hint of a semi-hollowbody guitar like a 335 or Sheraton. The body also features single-ply cream binding on the top for a beautiful vintage look.

Like all Epiphone Les Pauls-and unlike less costly designs-the Epiphone Les Paul Standard Florentine PRO features a 14-degree angled headstock that gives you more pressure at the nut for longer sustain with less tuning hang-ups caused by "string-tree" gadgets. The mahogany neck has a standard 24.75" scale with a 12" radius and features a 1960s SlimTaper "D" profile with a glued-in neck joint for lifelong stability. The "D" profile neck is easy to hold for hours of playing time. The smooth rosewood fingerboard comes with pearloid trapezoid inlays, 22 medium-jumbo frets, a 1.68" nut, and 1-ply cream binding.

Epiphone ProBucker Humbuckers with Coil-Tapping
The Ltd Ed Les Paul Florentine PRO now features ProBucker pickups for that one-of-a kind Les Paul sound. ProBucker pickups feature Alnico II magnets, the same magnets used in sought-after vintage PAF humbuckers. Alnico II magnets provide a rich, warm tone with a sparkling high end and a solid low end. And, like PAF-era humbuckers, Epiphone ProBucker pickups are incredibly responsive with a range of tones.

The Les Paul Standard Florentine PRO features a ProBucker-2 in the neck position and a ProBucker-3 in the bridge position. The ProBucker-3 is slightly overwound to provide balance with the neck pickup and a bit of edge for lead work. ProBuckers emulate the sound of original PAF pickups which were hand-wound with a few extra turns of wire. Both the neck and bridge pickups also feature coil-tapping which is easily activated by a push/pull volume control. Coil tapping allows players an infinite variety of pickups sounds from single-coil bark to full humbucker bite.

Epiphone ProBucker Power
Epiphone pickups are critically acclaimed for their vintage-perfect sound and superior workmanship. When winding its humbuckers, Epiphone utilizes a double vacuum waxing process that ensures quiet operation, free from microphonic hum. The pickup is first placed in the specialized wax vacuuming system before the cover is placed on the unit to ensure that the wax fully penetrates to the very center of the pickup and solidifies all parts. After the cover is placed on, it is again given a second vacuum wax bath until the unit is completely saturated with wax. Epiphone uses only the highest-quality parts for its pickups, such as ABS plastic bobbins, 1010 Cold Rolled Steel pole shoes and pole screws, Alnico magnets and the finest magnet wire available. A guitar with Epiphone ProBucker pickups is a guitar you can truly play for life.

Guaranteed PRO Hardware
Epiphone's Ltd Ed Les Paul Standard Florentine PRO features Epiphone's legendary rock-solid hardware including a LockTone Tune-o-matic fully adjustable bridge and a Stopbar tailpiece. And now, Epiphone's updated design auto locks the bridge and tailpiece in place with no tools needed for improved sustain. The Les Paul Standard Florentine PRO uses 1" diameter potentiometers for better "throw," longer life and reliable service. Epiphone's all-metal toggle switches use rugged spring-steel contacts to ensure years of reliable service and performance. And Epiphone's proprietary output jack features an improved contact shape and a heavy-duty spring steel to increase reliability. Tuning is easy fast, and intuitive with Epiphone new "Deluxe" machine heads with an 18:1 ratio to ensure tuning stability and long life.

Like every Epiphone, the new Ltd Ed Les Paul Standard Florentine PRO features Epiphone's Limited Lifetime Warranty backed by world famous 24/7/365 Gibson Customer Service.

Saw a Gibson Les Paul Semi-Hollow going for a lot more. Loved it, but not spending that much or the reviews. Luckily I noticed the "also consider" banner showing this baby! Following that link, I read 6 or so positive reviews. It's rare not to have at least one negative review. None with this guitar so far - know why? 'Cause it's a sweet find. At first I thought "I don't want a fake/cheap Les Paul". But after I researched it more I took a leap of faith. Wow am I glad I did! There is nothing fake about the Epiphone Florentine Les Paul. Clearly the best guitar I've bought.....at this price. Plays and sounds sweet, it's lightweight, relieves my aching shoulders :-), has great sustain, and the first time right-out-of-box jam with my band had them impressed, beautiful cherry sunburst finish on awesome maple top, volume controls have coil-tapping feature, tone controls are "treble-cut". At this price it's a great deal! Based on the reviews thus far, everyone who buys one LOVES it! I may buy another one in honey burst or transparent black finish. I love this guitar!!

I was impressed when I opened the box. The finish was flawless and the neck was smooth. The frets had no sharp ends and were level. The tuners operated as expected, and the truss rod functioned correctly. But the fly in the ointment was the access hole for the truss rod. It appeared to have been gouged out with a chisel and a hammer! This was not visible until the truss rod cover was removed. I can't believe that an otherwise flawless guitar could have such shoddy workmanship. I'm not just being fussy, this was without a doubt the crudest work that I have ever seen on a guitar at any price range. The edges of the hole were all jagged and out of shape. I don't know how it ever passed quality control, unless the cover was installed prior to inspection. The pickups were very nice, and the overall tone was great. The shape of the neck was somewhat on the slender side for my tastes, but that is a personal thing. The weight was on the light side for a Les Paul, and the fit and finish was well done (except for the truss rod hole). The finish had a sort of plastic look and feel to me, but the guitar played well and felt good in the hands. I ended up returning the guitar for a refund, as I just couldn't come to terms with the crude truss rod work, even though it was hidden by the cover. I have owned a lot of Epiphones, but this one really disappointed me in the quality control department. Perhaps the next one would have been better.

Comments about Epiphone Les Paul Standard Florentine PRO Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

I am just an amateur home musician but am taking a new interest in improving my playing skills and am practicing several hours a day. I had heard that better gear helps you play better, so I wanted to test this out, and found it to be true. Spent a bundle on new guitar gear, but Musicians Friend Platinum card no-interest financing made it very affordable. This is the first time I have spent this much on a guitar but it was worth it. Very easy to play and stays in tune well. The push-pull coil-tap switches give you a really wide range of pleasant tones. Am playing this through a Bugera Infinium 120W amp head and matching 2x12 speaker cabinet. I have about 20 effects pedals and used to feel that I needed them to get the sounds I wanted, but with this new gear I find the sound pleasing even without the pedals. Real happy with my purchases.

I had seen a Gibson Les Paul hollow body and was smitten until I saw the price. I started considering this guitar, read some reviews and did some additional research and decided to give it a try. I could not be more pleased. Just a little tweaking to suit my taste and wow. The finish is flawless and stunning, the quality is amazing for this price point, the ProBucker pickups sound better than the Gibson BurstBuckers ... I could go on and on but I think you get that I love this guitar. The best musical purchase I have made in a very long time.

Comments about Epiphone Les Paul Standard Florentine PRO Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

I had a mim strat before this, and this guitar gets more quack with the single coil pickups engaged. It comes with real alnico ii pickups, unlike ceramic pickups offered on more expensive fenders and epis, so if you're buying a new guitar, this is top of my list. It doesn't get a real semihollow vibe, but it gets halfway there, so if you think you might like a hollowbody but aren't sure, check it out. I actually use the coil splitting, and the guitar is much lighter than lps. Great buy, I couldn't be happier with it.

Comments about Epiphone Les Paul Standard Florentine PRO Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

I have had my eye on this guitar for a while and when it went on sale I jumped at the chance to own one. It was delivered and I set it up with .011 gauge strings. It looks, plays, and sounds great. The craftsmanship is excellent. Some people have criticized this model for "weak" pickups, but to my ears they sound very much like classic early humbucking pickups should. I am very happy with my purchase. I'm not sure why anyone would spend all the extra money on a Gibson when Epiphone is producing quality like this.

Comments about Epiphone Les Paul Standard Florentine PRO Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

I gave a GLOWING report to the Les Paul Standard Florentine that I just received a few weeks ago. But, at the very end of my review. I made a stupid typo. I wrote that this baby is "Not" my main stage guitar. It should have read it is NOW my main stage guitar. Still, one of the finest guitars I have ever owned out of the 275+ guitars I've owned in my lifetime. HIGHLY recommended!! :)

Comments about Epiphone Les Paul Standard Florentine PRO Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

First off, I'm 67 years old, have been playing for 56 years. I've owned over 275 guitars in my life, and currently own 18. I have done set ups and repairs for several music stores in my spare time. This sweet little Les Paul Standard Florentine was WAY better than I expected. The fit, finish, play-ability are all top notch, and not the least bit disappointing. I have owned at least 40 Les Pauls in my life, and have evertually parted ways with them because of chronic back problems. Finally, Epiphone came out with this baby, that doesn't make me look and feel like Quasimoto coming off the stage after one set. It was very nice straight out of the box. However, I set it up with a new set of Dean Markley Blue Steel .10's, and did about a 3/4 clockwise turn of the truss rod adjustment nut (looking DOWN the fingerboard) It now plays as well as any Les Paul I've ever owned that came out of Kalamazoo or Nashville. My only complaint was the pickups. Don't get me wrong, they sound "Nice." However, I'm not a fan of split coil. The tone becomes very thin and only about 2/3's of the volume. For my playing style, and for the current 10 piece classic rock band that I'm in, I added a gold Bigsby tremelo mounted on a vibra-mate adapter. I also slapped on a gold Schaller roller bridge, which helps it stay in tune VERY well. Next, I replaced the pickups with gold Seymour Duncan "Seth Lover" humbuckers, which I wired up to genuine Gibson 500k pots. Last touch, gold Kluson locking tuners. This guitar is now MARVELOUS!!! As I said, I currently own 18 guitars. Everything from a classic '64 Gretsch Country Gentleman to an American 50th anniversary Strat, and everything in between. This Epi Les Paul with it's wonderful weight and balance is not my main stage guitar. LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT!!!!! :)

Comments about Epiphone Les Paul Standard Florentine PRO Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

First off this guitar will crush skulls and start a fire on the fret board!!! Kids tread lightly thank you very much haha! I got this baby and need to say she is a screamer and is full of attitude! Epiphone has once again knocked this one out of the park it is not lacking anything luscious clean sounds, Fat Ryhthm sounds, and screaming and I mean screaming lead tones this baby I would say would blow the balls off a elephant at 60 paces! Did I mention the finish and craftsmanship is flawless!Pickups are very responsive to dynamics and how much tenacity you put into it! Ted Nugent has one of these but his is a Gibson but really I can't see the point of dropping 4K on a Gibson pick this bad boy up today you won't be dissappointed cleanse your soul and be sonically baptized by this little beast!
