I'm in Australia and I got this for $999 on special at a shop called Kosmic, usually $1400 for the left handed model. What can I say, its a Les Paul. It's better in every way than my old Samick strat copy. It's Gibson humbuckers give it a rich, warm sound that sounds great through my Marshall MG30DFX, all i need now is a bigger amp! It's superbly built, and comes with a great finish (Cherry Sunburst in my case) that looks flashy and professional. I found it easy to play as the frets and neck is smoother, plus the frets are closer together making it easier to slide and change chords, good for faster sorta rock stuff. The thickness isnt too thick that its like an acoustic, and not too thin that it feels flimsy and bounces when you play it hard. My only sorta critism is that its pretty heavy, but who cares, after all it is a solid body, plus it doesnt feel like its going to break fom just playing it. It's a total dream to play, I always wanted to get a Gibson, but Epiphones have proven to me that for about a 3rd of the price you definately can't go wrong. I love it! All left-handed players need one of these!

I received this guitar as a gift years ago. While everything was checked off on the inspection, it was defective. One of the frets was placed off center. My finger would get caught as I ran my hand up and down the fretboard. It's not like it happened too often though as the strings buzzed like you wouldn't believe, no matter what adjustments and string changes I made.Obviously not all guitars are defective, but the fact that this one made it through the inspection process should make potential buyers be wary. This was the last budget brand purchase I have made.

This is one awesome guitar

Comments about Epiphone Les Paul Standard Left-Handed Electric Guitar:

If you're reading this, you're probably a lefty. That means you've probably dealt with walking into the music store and having to search for the lefties and once you find one it's a piece-o-crap imitation. I started out with a Squier Strat and its served its purpose but now this guitar just tears up! I love it. My bandmate has a Epiphone Les Paul as well but his is a step up model. Neither one of us can tell the difference in tone, quality, or looks. The only difference we found was price. And I definatly got the better end of the deal there. If you're looking for a great guitar there's no other option in this price range. Just go out and get it.

It's amazing

Comments about Epiphone Les Paul Standard Left-Handed Electric Guitar:

I have been a strat fan ever since I first picked up an electric guitar. I swore by them. The only les paul style I ever had was a Les Paul 100 and I was not impressed with it at all. Last week I was planning on purchasing an MIM. I sat down for about 20 minutes with it and was very pleased. It was an awesome guitar, just like I expected. Then, just for fun, I picked up this les paul and tried it out. Side by side. Same amp. Same channel. Same cord. This guitar CRUSHED the strat. It was not even a matter of opinion or playing style. This les paul plays and sounds better than any comparable strat.

Comments about Epiphone Les Paul Standard Left-Handed Electric Guitar:

Having been in and out of the music scene for three decades I have played and owned practically every popular make and model you can think of. I have owned the epi Les Paul standard now for about six months and am totally impressed. The only downside I could find is that the pots aren't as responsive and smooth as I would like. The Les Paul heft is definitly there and the action is great. This is one of the best buys in a lefty that I have seen

Comments about Epiphone Les Paul Standard Left-Handed Electric Guitar:

As many others will say and have said, the Epiphone Les Paul Standard is pretty close to the real thing. It's a real joy to play, although you will want to replace the pickups in it if you play anything other than blues. They're a bit dark for my taste. Anyway, great guitar for the money.

Comments about Epiphone Les Paul Standard Left-Handed Electric Guitar:

The guitar is beautiful and sounds amazing. I have a hard time getting it to sound completely clean. I took the pickguard off and there are marks from where the screws that hold it on have scratched it. There is a little bit of buzzing on the low E strinng if you strike it too hard, and high action. I fixed it in 3 minutes. It is an amazing buy though. Just a few minor details, but other than that, I'd recommend it to anyone who wants a nice electric, but can't afford a real Gibson Les Paul.

My favorite guitar ever

Comments about Epiphone Les Paul Standard Left-Handed Electric Guitar:

I have owned a few dozen guitars over the years and have always came back to my Epiphone les paul. I've had my Epiphone for six years and it sounds better than ever. This guitar has mass amounts of chunk in its tone and plays easier that any instrument I've ever picked up. The sound is just there. Lots of low end tone with the stock pickups. I had to replace the toggle switch shortly after purchasing this axe due to my abuse of switch flipping. I also chose to replace the machine heads. It's hard to be a left handed player and find something as great as this guitar.

Comments about Epiphone Les Paul Standard Left-Handed Electric Guitar:

This beauty is one heck of a guitar. I've been playing for about 7 years, mostly with a piece of crud strat, (sorry fender lovers), which is only good for lead, in my humble opinion. It's great for playing rock and metal, and yet it's good for soft rock. Overall great price, great sound, great axe.

Comments about Epiphone Les Paul Standard Left-Handed Electric Guitar:

I have always wanted a Les Paul, since I saw Ace Frehley as a kid play one. I had bought another left-handed guitar, that I wasn't overly impressed with. As I said before I always wanted a Les Paul but couldn't afford the Gibson price. One day I sat down at a guitar shop and played an epi and I was blown away how easy it was to play and also how pretty it looked. The sustain on this guitar goes on forever and it has a full range of sound from a deep rich sound to a nice clean lead. After I purchased this guitar, I found out quickly that it was even better than what I had remembered playing it at the guitar shop. It is a lovely guitar....and I am completely satisfied with it. The only reason I gave it a 9 on quality is because the factory forgot to tighten one of the tuning knobs that was loose. Other than that, an easy fix and I just LOVE it!!! I recommend this guitar to anybody. The only little gripe I have is I wish they would allow for more color options, but I love my cherry burst finish, and I would have picked that anyway. :) Go get yours today!!

Comments about Epiphone Les Paul Standard Left-Handed Electric Guitar:

I have owned one of these for about 5 years now and I absolutely love it. It looks awesome, it feels great and it plays great. I have used it in the studio a bunch of times and it has delivered every time. I would put this up against the Gibson LP standard any day of the week. Don't listen to me buy one yourself and see what I am talking about.

BEST VALUE

By BLAZE

from Texas

Comments about Epiphone Les Paul Standard Left-Handed Electric Guitar:

I wanted a lefty Gibson LP Studio Black with Chrome hardware but it was on back order so I thought give Epipy Les Paul Standard a try. I am amazed I did not expect to get that deep down solid warm tone that I associate with a Gibson Les Pual. I thought I would need a pickup and tunner upgrade, I may still get vintage tunners installed only because I like the look but I'm not changing the pickups they are awesome when slightly tipped. If you have owned a Les Paul and switched to something else and thinking of comimg back you should try the Epipy LPS before for you buy, easy if you right handed but if your a lefty man this is a smooth six stringer.

Pretty Good Guitar

Comments about Epiphone Les Paul Standard Left-Handed Electric Guitar:

I just recently received this guitar and it is phenomenal. I played a Gibson and I played the Epiphone, and since I couldn't tell the difference, other than the headstock, I decided to go for the best value. If you are considering a long term carrer for playing the guitar or just a long term hobby I would seriously recommend this guitar.

Great guitar

Comments about Epiphone Les Paul Standard Left-Handed Electric Guitar:

I played this Epi Les Paul for about three months at a local music store and one day finally got it. I was instantly in love with this guitar. It looks great and sounds great. Some tonal concerns were that the body is a mahogany/alder mix so its not quite the same as the pure mahogany Gibsons, and when compared to an Epi LP CUSTOM, the pickups didn't sound as good. The Epi lp CUSTOM pickups seemed to have a bit more clarity and made the standard sound muddy. (I'm sure some gibson burstbuckers would clear up that problem). Overall: I would recommend this guitar to anyone!!!

Comments about Epiphone Les Paul Standard Left-Handed Electric Guitar:

Finding lefty guitars isn't an easy proposition. I asked around and know several people who own Epi les pauls. They all like them. I was a little dissapointed when I saw the made in china sticker on the headstock. But if this what the chinese are putting out now we are in serious trouble. I'm one to take things apart and see how they look on the inside. And they did a real good job. I wasn't to impressed with the action job done by epiphone but nothing that couldn't be fixed in few minutes. The intonation was way out on the 5th string. Now that it's right it sounds tremendous. I was thinking of switching pickups but don't see a point as good as it sounds. And it plays really well. I am glad I went with the standard model instead of the cheaper bolt on neck. Well worth the extra money. As for spending over 2 grand on a gibson I don't see it happening. You can get 2 epis, a stack amp and still have money left over. Just wish there were more color options for us lefties. Not that it isnt a really nice looking guitar. Definatly a good guitar for the money.

Great guitar... especially for the price

By Anonymous

Comments about Epiphone Les Paul Standard Left-Handed Electric Guitar:

I bought this Epi LP 3 months ago and I love it. It is made of the same wood and materials as a Gibson. I played a Gibson LP and right after that played and Epi LP and I couldn't hear any difference in them at all. You are just going to be paying for the name if you buy the Gibson. If you aren't satisfied with the sound (which is great already) just do what i did: spend a few hundred on the Gibson Burstbucker Pro pickups. Don't waste a couple grand when you can easily make this guitar sound a lot better than a Gibson LP Standard while spending a lot less for the guitar and pickups.

Comments about Epiphone Les Paul Standard Left-Handed Electric Guitar:

Epiphone "Korea" had done a great job on this LP. For the money it exceeds in all catagories. The finish/binding was very good with no defects. The chrome "Grover tuners" were a pleasent surprise. Both covered pickups sound good in all positions. The volume controls aren't noisy and smooth. The tone controls have a very short range. You really have to tweak them but they are workable. The nut was well dressed, no buzzing frets, action was middle of the road factory. This guitar is very quiet. No humming or switch noise and it stays in tune. The strings that came on the guitar were 010's and lasted for the amount of time they were played. I was originally going to strip this guitar down and replace the tuners, pickups and electronics in it but I am not going to as of now (maybe I'll put the replacement stuff in something else). Its sounds and plays great!

I am not ready to step off into a Gibson...so, this is the next best thing for me. It is a lot of guitar for the money.
This is my first electric, and the Epi has that classic sound and sustain that I hoped for. I am finding that I can play almost anything with this guitar. Jazz, Classic Rock, Blues...can't beat it in this price range.
I bought mine as a customer return....obviously it was untouched. I don't think I could ever find anything that would touch it in this price range. It arrived in flawless condition.

Comments about Epiphone Les Paul Standard Left-Handed Electric Guitar:

That's right, how do they make money on these guitars? I have had mine for 2 years and it's showing no signs of failing. The only problems I've had is the plug in will get loose from taking the plug in and out and must be tightened. My intonation was off due to changing the gauge of my strings and had to be professionally tuned. All and all it is a great sounding and looking guitar.
