Well worth the money...

I've owned a Gibson or two... I've got one of Ted Nugent's guitars (a '64 Byrdland), an ES137, a J180EC and I've had a few Les Pauls... I missed having an LP, so I figured it was time to snag one up, and since I don't have a lot of time to play these days, I wasn't set on spending the big money to get a Gibson.  This is the perfect compromise.

A few years ago, I worked at one of the biggest instrument retailers in the world, so I've had my hands on a lot of different guitars, and this Epiphone Les Paul is absolutely outstanding.  It plays well, it looks great, and it sounds pretty good...

The ONLY thing that keeps me from giving it a full 10 is the pickups... when you crank 'em to 10, things start to get a little hairy and the clarity just isn't there... but for the price of the guitar, you really can't gripe too much... I have a set of EMG's on the way and a box of sandpaper set aside... I plan to sand the EMG's down, epoxy some pole-piece heads on, and slide some chrome covers over them to keep the guitar with that traditional Les Paul look, but a much clearer (and meaner) sound.  I also replaced the gold top-hat knobs to clear Gibson type knock-offs.

My bro has a zakk wylde signatue all custom 6 thousand dollar guitar. He knows quility when he sees it. He picked this guitar up and loved. He said the stock pick ups are very good, but u should change them. But overall he loved the guitar. And was playing mine more than his own. HAHAHA

Quality:

Beautiful guitar. Just beautiful. The reason for the 8 is because the feel of the toggle switches make me feel like there will be a problem with them. But thats an easy replace.

Value:

Look at the price. Feels like a gib, sounds like one, and plays and feels like one. Its a gibson to me

Awesome Guitar

Quality:

Everything is great, although the volume and tone knobs where all kind of bent, only a small amount, but it seemed poor quality to me. It only takes a little pressure to bend them back straight, and if you take good care of your guitar it should be just fine. Everything else seems to be very good quality, especially for this price range!

Value:

This guitar is soooo much fun to play! Looks awesome, sounds awesome, extremely easy to pull off squeals and harmonics, has a lot of good tonal variety, great cleans and crunchy distortion... For this price range you can't beat it!

Overall:

Just buy it!
