I'm very happy with this guitar. They are calling it a Limited Edition and it is stamped with "Limited Edition/Custom Shop" Not sure what that means in terms of the number they will make, but I'm glad I got one. I really went over this guitar looking for any issues (to the point of using magnifier glasses). As mentioned above, I found very little. For the price, the quality and features are unbelievable. Tone is subjective and dependent on more than the guitar. So for me to describe in detail how great it sounds has little value. But I can't see making any mods to the electronics, bridge, nut, tuners, etc. I did notice a positive change by stringing it with 10's. Cosmetically I'd like it to look more like a traditional 335. Currently it has features from several year's models, but is not consistent with any particular one. With the block inlays, thinner neck and Epiphone version of the "57 Classic" pickups it has many attributes of a 1963 (original, not the current reissue). So a change in knobs, switch tip, pickguard and pickguard support is in order. I've never been able to justify the cost of a 335 since I only play casually. But I have wanted one since I first played one as a kid. There is something about 335's and this guitar has it.
Coil Splitting is a big plus. Very little "hum" in single coil mode. They sound good in both single and humbucking mode. Look and feel are exceptional. Thin neck which I prefer but others may not. I checked the depth (of the neck) and it is in line with the original 1963 according to measurements I've seen listed on sites dedicated to classic 335's. Like other Epiphones it is not a one piece neck. This one actually appears to be 5 pieces laminated together. Some people believe one piece necks are preferable. I don't since laminated wood is less likely to warp. But I won't argue the point. I also checked the depth of the body and it is just slightly over the 1.75" original spec (approx. 1.78 "). Overall it just seems to fit me well and is very comfortable to play. The Cherry color is rich and deep and the gloss finish really brings it out. The tuners are solid with a good gear ratio so it is easy to get accurate tuning. I saw it was suppose to be strung with 10's. Turns out they were 9's. Other features listed in the product description seem accurate.
Small blemish in the finish on the edge of the headstock by the low E tuner. Very minor. Smudge in the paint on the bridge pickup ring. Again very minor. The bridge volume pot had a dead spot. This was a bigger concern since MF could not send out a new pot and there was no way I was sending the guitar back for a replacement. I also didn't want to deal with the manufacture as warranty work. So I popped it out and it appeared the pot was loose inside the body. So I tightened up the bent tabs holding it all together and it was resolved. Not a big deal from my point of view, but might be for others. Otherwise the quality is great. No fret buzz. Action and relief set right to specs. Intonation needed no adjustment. All screws, knobs, pots, jack secured tightly. I can't find any flaws in the binding or inlays. And everyone who has seen it is knocked out be the color and finish. The maple grain shows through and is very clean. No high figuring, spalting or bird's eye. Just a very nice even grain on the front and back.
Maybe I should give this a "9" because there is always a lower price that would make it better. But I am very happy with the price paid.

I have been playing and setting up my own guitars for over 30 years...
Like other reviewers have mentioned, the frets are horrible and must be dressed right out of the box.
There also (as mentioned in other reviews) was paint on the top of the guitar, a little goo gone took that off though...still at this point I am ok with it as its not beyond the scope of setting up the guitar for use.
NOW...the kicker was no matter how much I tried the guitar had an incredibly pronounced bow in the neck, every time I would tighten the truss rod the bow would come back within minutes of playing. It got to the point to where I thought the neck would litteraly snap from the tightness of the truss rod.
So I am sending it back, and trying another one.
If this one is the same, I will just buy another Ibanez AM93, which was a great guitar from the get go with just basic truss rod adjustment.
I am highly disapointed in Epiphones lack of QC and complete disreguard for quality in craftsmanship, if this new guitar is junk like my first experience I will NEVER give them another chance.
What a waste of time, energy and money as I restrung the guitar with a new set of Elixirs and already bought the case elsewhere which I will also have to return on my own dime as its no fault of the case vendor that the actual guitar is JUNK!

Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition ES-335 PRO Electric Guitar:
Very, Very nice Guitar for the money. Yes it's not a Gibson, but would be tough to spend the money for minor differences. The coil taps open up alot of poss sounds. I like the bigger frame, it fits my build very well (6'2" 220#).
I have not found much this can't do, Les's and strats have their place but this is more of a do all for me. I can go from blues to heavy rock to country with just a quick flip and click.

Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition ES-335 PRO Electric Guitar:
I have waited a few weeks before writing this review. My ES 335 Pro lives up to all of the reviews I have read about it and the "Dot" Epiphones.
I did polish the frets. (easier than I thought) I have slightly lowered the action and I will probably have a pro set up.
Other than that this guitar is very nice and just sounds great! It is joy to play. Clean, crunch... whatever, sounds great. Looks absolutely great too.
Split coils on the pick ups are very cool. I really like the pick ups on this guitar
I agree; a great guitar at a great price.

Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition ES-335 PRO Electric Guitar:
The Epi ES 335 Pro is a delight to play. I ordered mine from MF after being so impressed with the Epi ES 175 (see my review). Both are defined as limited edition/custom shop. I had tried a 'regular' Epi Dot before, and didn't like the feel or sound; but I thought the limited edition/custom shop treatment (and slightly higher price) might make a difference. It does, to my ears and hands, at least in the final musical quality of the guitar. But whereas the overall quality control for the 175 was spot-on, that for the 335 was lacking. The first 335 I ordered arrived with a cracked neck and frets sorely in need of good polishing (as some others note below). But the pickups sounded tops and nicely distinctive between the neck/combo/bridge settings, and the rest of the handwork was very good; so I wanted a replacement. MF took care of this without problem (tip: keep your packaging/boxes until you are sure you will not need to ship any guitar back). The second 335 arrived intact but again with nasty frets and some hardened black gop below the lower f-hole (also as some note below, apparently from the hole-cut paint). Otherwise the finish and workmanship were excellent, with super looks. I cleaned the guitar up in about an hour and then got a professional setup. It is a great blues/jazz guitar for this -- or any -- price.

Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition ES-335 PRO Electric Guitar:
I had about 450 Euro's to spend and felt like buying a guitar .
Wanted to buy a second hand ( which are often more expensive then a new one since every body thinks they have vintage stuff for sale )until I saw the sunburst ES-335 PRO and liked the vintage looks .
So I calculated that if I had to buy two Gibson pickups and a quality bridge , I would have a good guitar for about 450 € .( I sold my Epi Sheraton '88 because the pickups were no good ) Surprise , ... This ES-335 PRO comes with perfect pickups and a quality bridge . Just had to put on a set of d'addario EXL115W and it stays in tune without a problem . No feedback on the PU's and a sound from Jazz to Metal with the coiltapping option .
This guitar is good for every situation and needs no customizing at all . I like it a lot !

An absolutely beautiful instrument, not a single flaw, smudge, or defect in the finish. Now lets talk about the frets-they suck! I'm having trouble understanding how this flew under the radar. Epi needs to pack this guitar with a 6 pack of beer and a piece of 600 grit sandpaper- 2 hours working on the fretboard it feels amazing! Now my bends are clean and super smooth, too bad thats what it takes to get the guitar playable. Bottom line= Buy this guitar! After some love, it's well worth it.

Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition ES-335 PRO Electric Guitar:
Negatives. 1. When I received the guitar the truss rod was completely loose and the neck was bent and the action high. But once I straightened the neck and adjusted the bridge height it played well. 2. The frets had been filed level, but someone at the factory obviously forgot to sand and polish them. They were so rough I would've broken the strings. So I had to finish the frets before I could use the guitar. 3. The black paint used on the inside edge of the f-holes was applied sloppily, sometimes up onto the top of the guitar. There was even a fingerprint next to the pickup switch. But having been applied after the top was varnished the black paint could be carefully scraped off with a guitar pick without leaving a scratch.
Positives: 1. The guitar sounds great. The coil-split feature makes this a very versatile instrument. It gives the guitar a variety of sounds: rock, jazz, blues, country, etc. I've had solid body electric guitars with coil split pickups but not with as much range of sound as this one. 2. The finish on the guitar is beautiful and well and done, and very nostalgic; almost like playing Eric Clapton's '64 Gibson 335TDC, (well not exactly.) 3. It has a nice meaty neck, good for large hands. 4. A great guitar for the price. Epiphone would be smart to make this a standard model, not just a limited edition. It's fun to play, hard to put down.

Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition ES-335 PRO Electric Guitar:
I am finding this to be a great guitar - a delight to play, great tone, everything I'd hoped it would be. It set up well; I was easily able to obtain exactly the action and relief I wanted, intonation is perfect, and I am liking the feel of the neck, which is beefier than what I am used to (mostly strats). I like the look of the bound neck and the fretboard inlays, also enjoying the coil taps and "Classic Pro" p'ups - well worth the price difference from the standard Dot.
I had two issues with the guitar I received, one functional and one cosmetic. From a few other reviews I have seen of some recently delivered Epiphone 335s and 339s it sounds like mine is not unique.
First, I was disappointed with the fret preparation. The frets on my guitar were extremely rough -- they had a surface texture that felt like diamond files and the guitar was basically unplayable because of that. I spent some hours polishing them myself and got everything into reasonable shape, but I think somebody missed a step in QA.
Second, when I removed the stick-on labels that explain the coil-taps from around the volume knobs, I found some splotches of black paint that had splashed on top of the clearcoat, apparently from finishing the inside of the f-holes. This wasn't too hard to fix, but it should have been cleaned up before the guitar left the finishing station. Aside from that, the paint job and binding is flawless.
Bottom line - a well-built guitar that plays and sounds great. Hopefully Epiphone will revisit their cleanup and inspection process where these are finished and issues like I described will go away.
