OVERVIEW

A Les Paul fit for a blues rock titan.

The Limited Edition Joe Bonamassa Les Paul features a stunning metallic-finish carved maple cap with a mahogany back. The LockTone Tune-O-Matic bridge and Grover 14:1 tuners have a nickel hardware coating. The glued, deep-set mahogany neck with rosewood fretboard features a rounded '59 neck profile for guitarists who prefer a chunkier neck, but still enjoy fast, smooth playing action. The BurstBucker 2 and 3 humbuckers have unbalanced pickup windings for the historically-accurate "Patent Applied For" sound with a little extra airy tone. The 'Bucker Type 3 is slighty overwound for more output.

A unique fusion of old and new ideas
Bonamassa played his first guitar at the age of four. By seven, he had stepped up to a full-scale model and had mastered many of Stevie Ray Vaughan's signature licks. At 10 he was playing regularly around the state of New York, garnering attention of blues legend B.B. King. Two years later, he was opening up for King, and eventually stars such as Buddy Guy, Robert Cray, Stephen Stills, Joe Cocker, Gregg Allman, and George Thorogood. Bonamassa has lived up to his potential, continuing to develop his own style as one of contemporary music's most profoundly gifted guitar players.

I started my guitar collection again last year after many years of not even owning one guitar in the house.

The Bonamassa was one of the first I bought last year from MF as it was a signature guitar.

First up the guitar felt great and the tone with the Gibson Pickups was gorgeous with a blues touch or a gritty crunch when overdriven.

The fret work was impeccable and the larger neck for me was very very comfortable.

I gave the guitar to a luthier who slammed the action right down to the deck with no buzz present at all which showed off the quality of the fret work and replaced the stop tail with a Gotoh because it seemed a logical improvement even though I had no issues at all with the factory stop.

This guitar is a lifetime keeper now and is my benchmark for everything else I own or play.

I have bought and passed through several guitars this year including a Gibson Classic Custom,Gibson SG Standard and a Epi Ace Ferhley Custom.

The Epi Bona was still my go to guitar even with the above in the house and I think thats speaks volumes for how nice the Bona sounds and plays.

Its stays in tune no worse or better than any high quality Gibson and the nut was cut well and just needed a touch of lube.

The only other guitar that I play more than the Bona is a 2012 Gibson Les Paul Standard which after a touch of tweaking is just a killer guitar.

If you are thinking its only a Epi and not a Gibson..well you will be surprised like I was of how it does sound, play and the quality rosewood neck and the really nice bit of fretwork.

Equally better or as good as many Gibsons out there.

..it comes very highly recommended.

I got one with a poorly set and milled neck.
No problem as customer service helped me with
the return in quick time. I will say that the tone wood was exceptional and the Burst Bucker pickups were tremendous. The Grovers were smooth and a really nice addition. A real value. Too bad for me I waited to buy until there were none left to replace it with so I am waiting for more stock.

Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition Joe Bonamassa Les Paul Electric Guitar:

i opened the gibson-cardboardbox and opened the case, took the epiphone out and tuned it. the action is perfect and so seems the intonation. the tuners from grover are pro. the sound from the guitar blows me away.
the certficate of authenticity seems to be coming from a faulty chinese printer or copier. there are marks along the sides of the paper. i do not think that joe really signed these personally.

but i am delighted by having gotten an instrument with such sound qualities. it`s one of a thousand.
no. 343
cheesy kind of sparkle gold top finish. the brown case is even worse with a very plastic feel to it but the pink colour from the fluff interior beats it all...viva las vegas...the whole collection has not really met my taste but i give it 10 because i think it is extraordinary.
the craftmanship of the instrument seems excellent. just the plastic knobs were pushed on a bit off.
the neck is a nice slab and feels very chunky indeed. takes some getting used to even if one has played telecasters with u shaped necks. but what really makes this guitar outstanding is the quality of the pick-ups.
the value is great. a guitar with burstbuckers and built like the les paul series in the 1950`s, tenon and all. if one would give this next to an american custom shop model to an expert with his eyes closed, i believe he would have a hard time knowing which sound comes from which instrument. excellent.

Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition Joe Bonamassa Les Paul Electric Guitar:

If you are just thinking about this epi remember,...you snooze you lose! This is by far the best bang for the buck epiphone les paul. Sure you could buy the Gibby studio JB for twice the price, but the features on this axe sold me. The neck is epi's version of the gibby 50's neck and it is a handful. If you like thinner necks, this may not work for you.
Very nice quality, mine had no flaws, put together nicely
For the price, it's a great deal and a great axe

Great Tone

By Sixstring63

Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition Joe Bonamassa Les Paul Electric Guitar:

I received my JB Les Paul last week and I was very impressed with the quality and the fit and finish. Neck is very nice and frets were well dressed. Only complaint is the cheap ABR-1 bridge that is just junk on this guitar as it is on all guitars. My Gibson Les Paul's ABR-1 was just as crappy. The saddles are not stable enough to stay in place there for causing tuning and intonation issues. Do your self a favor and order a $25 Gotoh or the Tone Pros Nashville style bridge and it will stay in perfect tune and improve the overall tone.

I am a bass-player who wants to learn guitar as well. Being a huge fan of J.B., imagine my surprise when I saw this guitar in a music shop near my place! After trying it, and asking the sales guy to clean the drool off the floor... I had to buy it. It plays superb... Looks awesome... and, well, there's nothing prettier than a Les Paul anyway!

Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition Joe Bonamassa Les Paul Electric Guitar:

Epiphone has gotten a bad rap throughout the years for being "The Red-headed Stepchild" of Gibson. nothing could be further from the truth. This Epiphone Joe Bonamassa Les Paul may not be as "hot" as the Gibson model, but not all of us have the available big cash for the Gibson version. This one plays with ease, great chunk sounds abound. A really nice addition to my collection which includes Fenders and Gretsches. Good work Epiphone!

What an amazing guitar, fit and finish is great not a flaw on it, much better than I expected. This guitar has the quality feel you would expect from a Gibson Les Paul. The tone is the thing that really sets this apart from anything in this price range, pick-ups are hot and rich in harmonics, the real deal!!!

Great Sounding Guitar at a Reasonable Price

By Robert M Anthony

from Ohio

Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition Joe Bonamassa Les Paul Electric Guitar:

I am not a professional player and I have never even been in a band. But I do have an excellent ear and this guitar sounds as great as it looks. I also own a custom PRS (my dumb brother sold it to me dirt cheap years ago) and this thing comes very close to matching the sound quality of that.

Unlike others, I think the action of the guitar needs a bit of tweeking--at least in terms of lowering the strings (perhaps because my PRS is so damn low). However, in terms of the "feel" and the thick neck, I absolutely love it despite having smaller hands. I have played similar Gibson Les Pauls and this feels right.

Given the great mix between sound, looks, and feel I am satisfied with my purchase and it is not going back. In fact, after 2 weeks of owing it, overall I like it better than my PRS.

I would recommend getting a thicker guitar strap for this. I paired mine with a Levy 3 inch black leather strap (M4GF) and it makes a huge difference to compensate for the heavier weight and it provides great stability for the heavier guitar.

Obviously this is not the "real" deal, and the quality is not equal to a Gibson. Given that, I rated it 4 stars (8/10) as perfection should be save for the best. However, in terms of price to perfomance it is five stars all the way.
+Great Pick Ups
+Awesome Finish
+Nice Tuning Heads
+Very Solid Construction
+Nice Thick Lacquer +Authentic Felling Les Pau
-Tuning Knobs are a Bit Cheap
-Case is So-So
+Incredible Sounding Les Paul for the Price

Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition Joe Bonamassa Les Paul Electric Guitar:

Its a buy. if you have a chance to buy one, buy it. it will be one of the best decisions you will make on buying a guitar.
This guitar is awesome. It plays like a beast and has so much sustain especially with the gibson burstbucker 2 and 3 loaded in it.
I love this guitar and when first recieved it i didnt think i even needed any adjustment or new strings, but will end up doing it anyways. The gold top glows and is nice.
I just love it and this is the closest you will probably end up getting to a gibson les paul.

I had this guitar set up professionally because the intonation was way off. Now, it sounds and plays outstanding. It looks beautiful. The tone is big, fat, and warm. I couldn't be happier. I run this through a tube screamer and into a Marshall class 5 all tube combo.

Don't get me wrong, I really like the guitar. But I was fooled into thinking that only 1000 would be sold! I figured that if I did'nt like it, I could always sell it and it would hold some value. Now I'm not so sure, and I wish I had bought an American made Studio instead for just a little more money. The studio is much lighter and this think is a LEAD weight. Oh well, I hope Joe B gets a nice bit of the cost, because he is great and deserves it.

I have NO regrets with this guitar Completely satisfied with the tone, looks and value. Plus is a limited edition, not bad for collecting it. It also comes with the signed certificate which is really cool! If you want a great quality guitar with GREAT tone varieties BUY THIS GUITAR before they sold out!
I also own a Gibson LP Traditional Pro and this Epi feels and plays ALMOST the same!! The neck is really thick, the tone is amazing and it stays in tune pretty well after BIG bends!
The Goldtop is stunning and the guitar looks amazing with the black accesories.
I am super happy with the guitar. It was worth it!

Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition Joe Bonamassa Les Paul Electric Guitar:

I got my guitar today and was elated! Last night I read the Gibson forum with all of the negative comments and snide remarks of Gibson owners who claimed that something made in China was not as good as a Gibson made in USA. Ha! How many of these people sent in their comments on computers not at least partially made in China? After being bummed out and feeling like I had made a mistake in buying this guitar, it came to me today. It was in carton from Gibson USA, but it said made in China. It was inspected and set up in Nashville. The only thing that I had to do was tune the guitat and adjust the pickup height to my liking. The action was great, intonation perfect and cosmetically, the guitar was perfect! I have owned four Gibsons, a Les Paul deluxe, a standard, and two studios. This guitar played better than any of those. The Burstbucker II & III's have unbeatable tone. I play through a Deluxe Reverb RI with a TS 808 RI. I mostly play blues and this guitar does it all! I will not be afraid of Epiphones made in China!! I will now probably buy a 1956 Gold Top with P 90's. All in all, this is a wonderful guitar and one of the best purchaes that I have ever made music wise.

I own many Gibson guitars, including 2 Les Pauls and an SG classic. I saw this guitar advertised in my favorite guit mag and immediately ordered it. It came out of packing almost in perfect tune. Fit and finish are perfect as is intonation. All I did was swap out the crappy strings, and do a minor tweak of the truss rod. I played the guitar through my recently acquired Marshall 1974X (mini-Bluesbreaker). Outstanding tone..as good as my USA Gibsons. The guitar has low action, stays in tune, intonates perfectly and looks awesome. I play in a band and will gig with this guitar, with pride. For the money it is an awesome value, and I agree that our foreign brothers can make a mean instrument. I highly recommend this guitar
