First guitar, amazingly well-made!

Comments about Epiphone Limited-Edition Les Paul Standard Plus-Top Electric Guitar:

I got this guitar for 399 as an exchange of an Epiphone LP with bigsby that had been discontinued, which was damaged during shipping; in that sense, I got this guitar at a GREAT DISCOUNT. Amazingly well made, the guitar is much more beautiful than the picture as its maple top displays vivid glares under sunlight when I first looked at it. What I like about this guitar: gorgeous look, solid feel, rich tone. What I DISLIKE about it: NONE. Suggestion: get a tube amp for maximum performance of this great guitar.

Attractive guitar once you invest some money in it

Comments about Epiphone Limited-Edition Les Paul Standard Plus-Top Electric Guitar:

I ordered this from MF a few months ago. I fell immediately for the Desertburst finish which is unique and amazingly beautiful in person. The flames are almost 3-D. The gold hardware sets it off perfectly. Construction and finish is near perfect. The poly finish is smooth and even. Only one small spot of cloudiness in the finish near the body/neck joint...very minor. The Grover tuners are perfection. I took it to a luthier right away for a normal setup. There was a buzz on the low E string. I was surprised to hear it was needing more setup than I figured. He had to level and re-seat some of the frets and bevel some of the edges. He had some trouble getting the low E buzz out. It took a few adjustments and a string change to some heavier gauge strings. This cost way more than I'd planned on and I was a little upset that a new out the box guitar would need more than the usual setup adjustments. I had purchased the matching Epi case separately from MF, which is very nice, so already this guitar purchase was adding up. Fast forward a couple weeks with my fixed up new guitar, there is a short in the output jack. One of the wires broke loose from the jack. No problem, I soldered it back on. Problem fixed. Shortly thereafter, however, my neck pickup goes out. Everything else works as before. I opened everything up and couldn't find the source of the problem. I decided to use this opportunity to upgrade all the wiring and electronics, so I drop another couple hundred and order some Seymour Duncan pickups and a LP wiring kit with new caps, pots and wiring. It's not all back together yet, but if I add up the cost that I've dropped into it, I've nearly doubled the original price and I still don't have a guitar that works. If I were to do it again, I'd probably just hold out and get a Gibson LP Studio from the start.

Real Super Nice Les Paul

Comments about Epiphone Limited-Edition Les Paul Standard Plus-Top Electric Guitar:

Received my Les Paul Last week. Cannot say how happy I am. Finish was perfect. Setup out of the box was not bad, but I use 10-46 strings. Therefore I put new strings on it, adjusted the action, & intonation. Plays like a dream. Looks that kill. I did put Black speed knobs on it, just because I like the way it looks.

Comments about Epiphone Limited-Edition Les Paul Standard Plus-Top Electric Guitar:

This is one nice axe. I love it so much, it has a crack in the neck and I'm not sending it back. Go figure, I ordered this guitar, case not included, so to avoid it being shipped 7,000 miles across ocean and desert in a cardboard box, I ordered a case, too. They were shipped separately. The guitar was shipped in a cardboard box anyway. Temperatures are in the 120's, can you see that guitar on the back of an army truck in the sun traveling across the desert in those temperatures with a nice, protective case sitting right next to it, empty! I'd like to know the policy behind that decision. How it got here with only a cracked neck, I have no idea. That was one beat up box.

WOW! This is Great!!!

Comments about Epiphone Limited-Edition Les Paul Standard Plus-Top Electric Guitar:

This is the most beautiful guitar I have ever had in my hands. The action and intonation were spot on, right out of the box. I own several flamed guitars, and this is as good as I have seen. Epiphone definately got it right with this one.The price is better than the regular Standard plus, and yet this guitar is so much better. Do yourself a favor and get one while you can. Great price/Great Guitar. Love it!!!

Pretty Nice

By Malikon

from Chicago

Comments about Epiphone Limited-Edition Les Paul Standard Plus-Top Electric Guitar:

Pretty nice guitar, there are some slight runs in the finish, and the fret work was rough and gritty, but a quick polish and just using the guitar and bending strings took the gritty feeling out within a couple days, but it's kind of a shame that it left the factory with runs in the clearcoat and gritty frets. The guitar itself is a nice weight and plays and sounds nice. The tuners are holding tune just fine. The pickups are a bit muddy sounding, it could use more treble, though it might be the pots and wires and not the pickups, eventually I'll replace all of the electronics. The price is nice and generally it's a nice guitar and it is a "real" Les Paul for what it's worth, but it could easily have been better. Especially the frets and clearcoat. Also, the guitar pictured is not the one you receive. The one that arrives has amber knobs and a 3 ply black pickguard. The knobs are easily replaced but even if you take the guard off you're now left with 2 screw holes from it. Basically a pretty nice guitar if you want a "real" Les Paul, but I've owned "copies" that were nicer, and cost less.

What a beauty!

Comments about Epiphone Limited-Edition Les Paul Standard Plus-Top Electric Guitar:

I have owned countless Epi Les Pauls. I saw this Desertburst version and I had to have it. It is, by far, the best version I have ever seen. It is absolutely beautiful, plays like a dream, and sounds amazing.A couple things of note: the image doesn't do the guitar justice. It's finish is spectacular. But, just so you know, the image shows black knobs. Mine came with standard amber knobs. It also shows no pick guard in the image, but mine came with a black one that really was a welcome addition. I am not at all disappointed with what I received, but thought you should know what to expect.
