good guitar

Features:

nice tuners and wiring. not excellent though

Quality:

slightly off mill work. no biggie though

Value:

this is one of the best values that you will find in an lp style guitar

Overall:

This is a great sounding guitar, the humbuckers get a great distortion, the neck pickup isnt muddy, and it looks cool with alpine white. I expected this guitar to be slightly thicker than it is based on the other les paul models i have played, but it is still a good thickness for me. it is not excessivly heavy, and it plays wonerfully. I usually use my hollow body for my cleans, but this one is still good. i can get nice jazz tones out of it through a fender, but dont buy it for cleans. it is important to realise though that this is still an epiphone, not a gibson. It is a wonderfull guitar, dont get me wrong, but people are saying it is just as good as a gibson which is not true. People were also talking about a fading issue with the gold hardware, i have not encountered this yet and i have had mine for roughly 3 months now so i hope i dont but it is too early to tell if it will be an issue. I hooked up to my friends peavy and tuned it down to drop c with 11 guages and i got some nice metal tones out of it. It is a perfect guitar for anybody who is playing on a budget, i would highly reccomend it for a first/second guitar,if you are still experimenting to find your tone and i absolutely love mine. Have Fun!!!

Review of guitar and buying experience.

Features:

Love the guitar, not too thrilled with the purchasing experience.

Quality:

Beautiful finish, no flaws.  Love the gold finished hardware.

Value:

Somewhat overpriced, but show me a guitar that isn't?   I also have a Epi Special II that I think plays just as well for a lot less money, just doesn't have the electronic features, carved body, and glued on neck (though I kind of wonder about that).

Overall:

I love it, I have several lower priced guitars and this is my go-to.  The tuxedo finish is beautiful in my opinion and a very neat addition to my collection. Plays nice, has a good feel, although you must, of course, change the strings before you even touch it.  It was supposed to be pre-set up, the warranty card was signed off from the factory, but I had to go through it again to make it right.  Look, I'm no kid and no rock star wannabe, and money IS a concern because Mom and Dad quit paying for my vices long ago.  I was disappointed in my purchase experience this time, because although I had two discounts available and advertised both in the magazine and on the internet, I wasn't allowed to use them.  I purchased anyway because I couldn't buy it cheaper.  Just think MF didn't stand up and do what was right this time.

Epiphone les Paul studio alpine white

Quality:

Everything about this guitar screams quality. It is a very solid guitar that I went over with a fine tooth comb, but I found not a flaw on the paint, no cracks in the wood and everything was secured perfectly.

Value:

A fraction of the price of a Gibson and is very comparable. I bought it as a beginner guitar and have had it for 6 month. Now that I can play decently I don't even see a reason for an upgrade anytime soon.

Overall:

Great price, great quality, and great sound. Can't ask for anything more than that. I wish the tuners  weren't plastic but I bought better ones anyway. Gold accessories look awesome on my white guitar. No need to waste money on a Gibson unless you are a professional guitarist and really want all the bells and whistles.

Comparable to my Gibson LS Studio

| Review By: Marcos Garcia | 1 month, 3 weeks ago

1 people out of 1 found this review helpful

Features:

I bought this to replace an identicle Gibson LP Studio I sold before my deployment to Iraq. I didn't want to break the bank so I went for the Epiphone.

Quality:

Fit and finish is just about identical to my Gibson. It arrive with a broken High E string and not very well set up (action very high), but those are just minor issues. It definatly needs a visit to the luthier for a set-up, but again, feels and sounds just like my Gibson. I would have given it a 5 except for the poor set up.

Value:
Overall:

Other than the fact it arrived poorly set up, it is a nice guitar, definately gig worthy. I have a friend who is a professional musician and has a stable full of guitars, all high end and even some custom made ones, but his main gig-axe is an Epihone LP. Before I bought this LP Studio, I asked him about that, as I always considered the Epi a poor man's Gibson. He liked the fact that his Epi played just as sweet as his Gold Top, but he didn't have to worry so much about it taking abuse. He records using the Gibsons, but gigs with the Epi's.
