OVERVIEW

Les Paul tradition combined with modern professional features.

Epiphone's history and association with Les Paul dates way back to the days when Les, working at the Epiphone factory on 14th St. in New York, created the world's first electric guitar. Over the years, Les continued to work closely with Epiphone by reviewing new product ideas and offering suggestions. The Epiphone Les Paul Traditional Pro electric guitar combines the best of Les Paul's original design with new features that set this Epiphone guitar apart.

Professional Electronics.
The Les Paul Traditional Pro uses Epiphone's 4-wire, nickel/silver base humbuckers with newly tooled, USA-style bobbins. In the neck position is the Alnico Classic Pro humbucker with Alnico-II warm, thick vintage tone and open zebra coils. It's uniquely paired with Epiphone's ProBucker-3 humbucker. An inspired by version of Gibson's BurstBucker-3, the Les Paul guitar features unevenly wound coils and Alnico-II magnets that replicate that "Patent Applied for" airy tone. You'll love the way they sound! To top it all off, both volume controls feature push/pull potentiometers allowing you to coil-split each pickup for single-coil sounds. Combined with the 3-way toggle, you get 6 unique sounds from one great Les Paul guitar.

Tone Woods with Great Feel!
The Epiphone Les Paul Traditional Pro guitar has a solid mahogany back with a carved top and a solid mahogany neck that's hand-fitted and glued into the body for excellent neck-to-body contact and acting almost like one continuous piece of wood. The guitar neck features a SlimTaper D profile with a smooth and fast "worn" type finish on the back of the neck and body.

Loaded with premium add-ons!
Other features on the Epiphone Les Paul included quality Grover tuners, a traditional cream-colored pickguard, LockTone Tune-O-Matic bridge/stopbar, and Epiphone's own StrapLocks. Like every Epiphone, the electric guitar features their Limited Lifetime warranty backed by world famous 24/7/365 day Gibson Customer Service.

I was GASsing for an LP-style guitar with humbuckers and found this on sale. It's a lot of Les Paul for the money: Grover tuners and custom pickups with split-coil volume pots. The fit and finish are exceptional. The back and neck are sort of a stained mahogany with very open pores, which makes the neck feel fast with some very, very slight texture to it, but not sticky like a gloss neck. It's a thicker neck than many newer electrics, but not chunky. Just solid in your hand. It came set up well with moderately low action and the truss rod set fairly well (all was good enough that all I did was stretch the strings and tune). The pups sound great and provide the full range of Les Paul tones, from fat, clean blues and turn-the-tone-down jazz to crunch and growl. I haven't experimented with the split coil much, but for single coil sounds I have a strat and tele. The real value in the pups is not the split coil, but rather the custom sound and unbalanced winding of the Probuckers. I did have a noisy volume pot that produced static not only when turning it, but when simply playing the instrument. However, I took the back plate off, blew out any offending dust, jiggled the pot, and just worked it in a little, and the static is gone. I can't reproduce it now, so I guess whatever bit of dust was in there worked its way out. Also, I don't trust the Epiphone strap locks, so you should either swap out these cheaply built locks for Schallers or do without. Lastly, the heritage cherry burst is beautiful. All in all, a great value and a great guitar even were it not on sale.

This is my fifth epi lp, two chinese, two korean, and now an indonesian. Something is very wrong with this guitar. It plays like a DREAM and components seem to be of good sources, just the build quality for the body and neck is poor. Fret board and maple cap are ok, very open and porous mahogany for the rest. Had to open the back to tighten output jack, and found korean pots, nice touch. Ease of play, layout and generally a good feel and tone. I give it a three for a good try. Not on par with a chinese lp, not near my korean lp custom. On sale I would recommend, full price, nope.

Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition Les Paul Traditional PRO Electric Guitar:

I must say I wasn't expecting too much just based on the price but once I tuned it up and started playing I was just amazed. What a fantastic sounding guitar and while I know this is a personal thing, I also love the neck shape and finish. Very easy to play all up and down the fretboard. I got the Ebony model and it is very classy looking, reminds me of someone in a Tuxedo. I do plan on a couple of inexpensive upgrades to both add to the appearance and make it a more individual instrument, but I am doing these because I want to, not because the original parts are inferior in anyway. It sounds trite as people say it all the time, but I truly can not walk by this guitar and not pick it up and play a while. Very happy with this purchase. Musicians Friend was a pleasure to do business with as well.

Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition Les Paul Traditional PRO Electric Guitar:

Considering it's made in China, the build quality is really high quality. Setup (which is done in the USA, I believe) was perfect right out of the box. I've wanted a gold-top les paul in my line-up for quite a while and this one certainly scratched the itch at a great price.

Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition Les Paul Traditional PRO Electric Guitar:

I've played acoustic guitar for many years and recently bought my first electric. I played around with it for a while but I was not impressed. Then I bought this Epiphone Les Paul Traditional Pro. I love it. Clean crisp sound and a well-crafted retro look are just some of the attributes of this sweet instrument. I am extremely pleased with the ease of play, especially for a novice on electric, like this old lady. The back of the guitar is finished in a grainy satin mahogany which feels great to the hand on the back of the guitar neck and I can't say enough about the beauty of the gold top. This is a quality substitute for the highly more expensive Gibson Les Paul models but well worth it's reasonable price. I am truly happy with "Gert the Gold".

so...I bought it because its the Desert Burst and I loved the videos on youtube and people raving about it.
I love the real flame top the mahogany body and neck. Not that this guitar needs ANOTHER good report but i just want to say...I love you baby girl. Hi MOM!
it trully is a great guitar nice pups , I would change the switch and maybe do a little tweaking in the electronics ..but thats just me..nice tuners. the binding and frets need just a bit of a finish if you ask me its not like its hand polished or meticulously finished. but i bet you with a nice finish this baby is a keeper without spending the thousands on an murikan made that is just ridiculously priced. nice though but pricey..love you MOOM!

I purchased this Guitar on sale from MF. I must say it was a Great Value! I love the back of the Neck being Satin-not lacquer. Makes for much easier movement up and down the Neck. Attention getter when you pull it out of a Case or Gigbag! Great sound as well. I play mostly Classic Rock and this Guitar has that Gary Rossington/ Lynyrd Skynyrd sound! Get one while you still can!

Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition Les Paul Traditional PRO Electric Guitar:

Bought one in April of 2016 and another in May. No, it's not on a par with my old vintage 74 LP Deluxe but you don't have to worry about these getting nicked and dinged. Though it's lighter weight, the sustain is good, the set up was pretty good and the strings improved after a little use, though I'll change them to my favorites soon. It's a keeper and for the price, it's a great deal. Like the finish on the neck, smooth moving vs the gloss finish that may get a little sticky in hot or humid weather. All in all, it's a fun guitar that sounds good too.

Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition Les Paul Traditional PRO Electric Guitar:

I give it 5 stars, not because it's the best guitar ever, but because in this price range it is a great guitar. I bought a restock from M/F, but it had a crack in the neck from the nut towards the body that opened up as the instrument was played. My M/F guru got it replaced with a new Trad Pro ebony, which was a little down scale from the first, but still better. The first Trad Pro ebony had a nitro lacquer finished neck, which I don't really care for. The replacement guitar had a plain flat black finish on the back of the body and the neck, which I prefer, at least on the neck. The new guitar needed some set up help, pick up height and strings, etc. It's very rare to get a guitar out of the box just the way you want it... I'll work on intonation after I change strings to my gauge. I believe the marketing people call the push/pull volume switches "coil tapping" but I think they're actually coil cutting instead. I've modded a Les Paul Special II, and a Harmony HSH with coil cutting and series/parallel switches, so I knew what the tone options were going to be. There's the usual Epi cost cutting at this price point, fake binding, low cost knobs, etc. but the guitar feels good, and sounds good to me. Until my album goes platinum, or Gibson decides to throw some love my way (can you hear me in Nashville?) I'll be playing Epi Les Pauls, which I am happy to do so. Eventually I'll upgrade the caps to paper in oil, and mod the volume controls to free them up in the center switch position. All in all, a great guitar for the money, and the service that keeps me a loyal M/F customer.

Outstanding pickups, coil tap, Grover tuners, a satin back body and back of the neck which feels great and a no compromise real Les Paul vibe are reasons why I give this a number one pick when weighing value and performance from all the guitars Gibson/Epiphone make. Bring it on if you think there's a bigger value in their catalog. Don't want or need a label sniffing OMG I might get a nick on my guitar when I play out.

                  Back to the Traditional Pro.

If you're looking not just for a guitar with humbuckers but want something in the LP neck of the woods this is it.

Regular price is a steal. The occasional on sale price or occasional SDOTD price is staggering when you compare you features on other guitars at the same pricepoint.

Been doing this for a long time and certain gear becomes extremely popular over years with musicians. Epiphone Les Pauls have reached a point where it would be awfully hard to justify the Nashville alternative.
