OVERVIEW

Epiphone's history and association with Les Paul dates way back to the days when Les, working at the Epiphone factory on 14th St. in New York, created the world's first electric guitar. Over the years, Les continued to work closely with Epiphone by reviewing new product ideas and offering suggestions. The Epiphone Les Paul Traditional Pro electric guitar combines the best of Les Paul's original design with new features that set this Epiphone guitar apart.

Professional Electronics.
The Les Paul Traditional Pro uses Epiphone's 4-wire, nickel/silver base humbuckers with newly tooled, USA-style bobbins. In the neck position is the Alnico Classic Pro humbucker with Alnico-II warm, thick vintage tone and open zebra coils. It's uniquely paired with Epiphone's ProBucker-3 humbucker. An inspired by version of Gibson's BurstBucker-3, the Les Paul guitar features unevenly wound coils and Alnico-II magnets that replicate that "Patent Applied for" airy tone. You'll love the way they sound! To top it all off, both volume controls feature push/pull potentiometers allowing you to coil-split each pickup for single-coil sounds. Combined with the 3-way toggle, you get 6 unique sounds from one great Les Paul guitar.

Tone Woods with Great Feel!
The Epiphone Les Paul Traditional Pro guitar has a solid mahogany back with a carved top and a solid mahogany neck that's hand-fitted and glued into the body for excellent neck-to-body contact and acting almost like one continuous piece of wood. The guitar neck features a SlimTaper D profile with a smooth and fast "worn" type finish on the back of the neck and body.

Loaded with premium add-ons!
Other features on the Epiphone Les Paul included quality Grover tuners, a traditional cream-colored pickguard, LockTone Tune-O-Matic bridge/stopbar, and Epiphone's own StrapLocks. Like every Epiphone, the electric guitar features their Limited Lifetime warranty backed by world famous 24/7/365 day Gibson Customer Service.

Check the drop-down menu to the right to select colors and/or other options.

Extensive video review/demo on YouTube: look up Escher's Enigma.

I am a full time variety artist: magician, musician, and speaker. These days I spend most of my time with music in the studio rather than live.

This Epiphone has an unbelievable range of tonal possibilities between the two wonderful pickups, the individual coil taps, and tone knobs that actually work.

But the best thing about the guitar is that it's all mahogany - the back and the neck. So many Les Pauls have glossy or sticky necks that I don't enjoy playing, but this thing glides. It's a true pleasure.

The bad: the setup was pretty terrible, and the bridge needs to be replaced. The Epiphone tune-o-matic bridge saddles are not adjusted the proper heights for the radius of the neck. The G string is WAY higher off the fretboard than the rest of the strings, resulting in an uncomfortable playing experience. Plan to buy the reasonable priced Gotoh drop-in replacement bridge and install it. Also, there were a handful of frets that were so high they were causing dead notes, not just buzz.

Basically, I took the guitar to a great luthier within 3 days of receiving it and had him take care of all issues. Total cost: hundred.

Result: After a hundred at the shop, this thing plays and feels like a three thousand Gibson. Awesome!

This is my fifth epi lp, two chinese, two korean, and now an indonesian. Something is very wrong with this guitar. It plays like a DREAM and components seem to be of good sources, just the build quality for the body and neck is poor. Fret board and maple cap are ok, very open and porous mahogany for the rest. Had to open the back to tighten output jack, and found korean pots, nice touch. Ease of play, layout and generally a good feel and tone. I give it a three for a good try. Not on par with a chinese lp, not near my korean lp custom. On sale I would recommend, full price, nope.

Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition Les Paul Traditional PRO Electric Guitar:

The Epiphone Les Paul Traditional is a solid guitar that sounds and feels great. The ProBucker pickups have a crunchy, beefy tone when played through an overdriven amp, but also sound warm and smooth when played clean. The neck with it's work, but smooth feeling, finish feels great. I enjoy the feel of this guitar more than most that I own.

I started playing recently at 48. The guitar requires a 60 setup from a tech as expected. Wonderful after action is lowered and bridge and nut adjusted for tone. Just need how to pls it better but love this LP traditional pro sound from the pickups. Metal tones and clean are redonculously good.

Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition Les Paul Traditional PRO Electric Guitar:

I was GASsing for an LP-style guitar with humbuckers and found this on sale. It's a lot of Les Paul for the money: Grover tuners and custom pickups with split-coil volume pots. The fit and finish are exceptional. The back and neck are sort of a stained mahogany with very open pores, which makes the neck feel fast with some very, very slight texture to it, but not sticky like a gloss neck. It's a thicker neck than many newer electrics, but not chunky. Just solid in your hand. It came set up well with moderately low action and the truss rod set fairly well (all was good enough that all I did was stretch the strings and tune). The pups sound great and provide the full range of Les Paul tones, from fat, clean blues and turn-the-tone-down jazz to crunch and growl. I haven't experimented with the split coil much, but for single coil sounds I have a strat and tele. The real value in the pups is not the split coil, but rather the custom sound and unbalanced winding of the Probuckers. I did have a noisy volume pot that produced static not only when turning it, but when simply playing the instrument. However, I took the back plate off, blew out any offending dust, jiggled the pot, and just worked it in a little, and the static is gone. I can't reproduce it now, so I guess whatever bit of dust was in there worked its way out. Also, I don't trust the Epiphone strap locks, so you should either swap out these cheaply built locks for Schallers or do without. Lastly, the heritage cherry burst is beautiful. All in all, a great value and a great guitar even were it not on sale.

Guitar out of the box was the WORST I have ever gotten,Bridge was high the other reviews here make mention of that,Intonation was horrible,The truss rod was so loose the luthier said it was almost unattached,Cost me good money to get it right,Than i contacted musicians friend.....I was told this is not a high end guitar so no set ups are done also if they took it out of the box to set it up they would have to mark it used???? Ridiculous statement I guess Epiphones are now low end guitars..Done with this company for good.

Never bought a guitar online before and I was hesitant. I wondered what shape the guitar would be in once it arrived. No worries! Packed very, very well. Played great right out of the box. Really love the ability to split the coils. I had a Gibson Les Paul before and I couldn't get all the tones out of it that wanted. Not the case with this guitar! A myriad of tones from the splitting one or both pickups and lots of fun experimenting. Its got the great Les Paul sound, plus all the tones you'd expect from a guitar with single coils. No regrets buying this guitar!

Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition Les Paul Traditional PRO Electric Guitar:

They had the Traditional Pro on a sale and I had to snag this guitar up for the great price. Out of the box, it plays pretty well and it looks great. I got the Wine Red and if you look close you see wood grain, it's a nice looking guitar for sure. I'm impressed by it.

The neck plays well, and the pickups are pretty good. I thought I'd have to replace them but I've got no plans to. I love the pro bucker in the bridge. It's good for playing most rock. The neck pickup is smooth and buttery on clean, good for blues. Distorted the bridge sounds pretty good, neck pup can get muddy. The coil splitting is something I didn't really think I'd use, but it sounds great. If I coil split the bridge and play middle position I get a cool Jack White kind of twang to it. Don't expect to play metal with this guitar!

I haven't put on the strap locks yet but they look fine and are a cool feature to get stock. The Grover Tuners are super nice and should do a good job keeping in tune.

I do plan to have my local tech put a bone nut in the neck and do a pro set up. It's playable out of the box, but to optimize your sound and playability, it's worth it. For being so much cheaper than a Gibson, I don't see that big of a difference. Get over the name on the headstock and pick up this great guitar.

Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition Les Paul Traditional PRO Electric Guitar:

I just bought this guitar earlier today at my local Guitar Center. I was able to save up some money, and was in need of another guitar to add to my collection. After spending a few hours at the store, and playing several guitars in this price range both acoustic and electric; I finally settled on this. For the price it was being sold at; the tone, feel, and quality met my expectations. For the value, this Epiphone has to offer, and is well worth it. A solid guitar, with great features, visually stunning, and awesome sound; you can't go wrong with this, specially if you want something this nice without having to send your bank account in the negative.
