I've had several Epiphone guitars over the years, but when I heard about the Masterbuilt series from a Gibson tech I had to try one. Amazing! The AJ500M I received from this site is superb. While I am not a professional player there is nothing I would change on this instrument. I had quite expected to spend another bill or so on a hard shell case. No need. The 'rigid' gig bag (included by Epiphone) my friends want to order for their own guitars! Depending upon your style of playing, this can be a very mellow instrument or project itself well. 'Out of the box' the action needs no work, the sound is amazing with All solid wood construction and satin finish. Personally I think a true value in today's market. From my perspective Epiphone's web site for the Masterbuilt series is right on! Many guitars are available in this price range for sure. So play a Gibson, Martin, Taylor, etc., and then play the Masterbuilt series. You will be pleasantly surprised at the quality and money saved. At least I was!

    Guitar Delight.

    By Axemantony

Hi acoustic guitar players, I rated the A J 500 M at the top of crop, because this Axe has the best action fret board and neck. The sound and tone is very Sweet and the body has the perfect shape to hold when I play, I also play Martin guitars like my J C 16 gte this Epi plays right up their with that martin, Very Cool Axe for the price.

I already own the DR500ME and the EF500RA and I had to compliment them by getting the AJ500M. Great big sound is what I get. Another fine Masterbilt guitar. I put a L.R. Baggs I-Beam in it and boy, this is a sweet sounding guitar...

    By Javier G

I bought my guitar (AJ 500 M) based on the reviews I read about it on the Internet, since I live in Mexico I had to trust on what the opinion I read. I decided to take my chance and ask to a friend to order the guitar and bring it to Mexico on a trip.I am delighted with it, I played the guitar with some friends and they are impressed about the clear and loud sounds that comes from it.Definitively I bulletproof purchase.

    Amazing Guitar!

    By Fenderfan7808

This is the best acoustic I have ever played in this price range. I compared it with Guild, Blueridge, Takamine, Seagull, Ovation, and even a Martin, and I still like this guitar the best.

    Stunning

    By Bronco57

While shopping for an acoustic guitar, I wanted that gibson feel an tone;however with a college student budget. I am certain that I got the best guitar for the money out there. The tone sounds like that of a $$$$ guitar. The solidwood construction is worth it. If you are on the fence with this guitar, let me knock you off. BUY THIS GUITAR!

Everything is Right With This Guitar

    By Whitney

    from Taxifornia

I was in the store for strings and had no intentions on buying another guitar. I saw the Masterbilt AJ-500-M and thought I would play around with it for a while. At first I thought the price was a mistake or the guitar had to be damaged in a way I could not see. I literally took it to the store manager and asked "What's wrong with this guitar?" He put it best, "Nothing is wrong, everything is right with this guitar". An hour later I was walking out the door with a new Epiphone Masterbilt. The action and sound are excellent. Smooth fretwork & rich sounding with great sustain. The open tuners and simple adornments give this guitar a traditional 1930's appearance. Don't be fooled, this is not a $2,500 guitar and doesn't pretend to be. But for a price that could be confused with a low end guitar, you get sound and playability that could be confused with a high end guitar. My wife was so impressed, she forgave me for spending money. I very happy with this guitar.

    Amazing Instrument!

    By Joe W.

    from Nashville, TN

I had intended on buying a Takamine, but the first thing that caught my eye in the store was the Sunburst AJ500M. I compared it to the Taks, Taylors, all the higher-end brands, and the Epiphone still sounded better than all of them. This guitar just blows me away, especially for the price. Heck, they could even double it and get away with it! Even the case is unbelieveable. Don't believe the negative hype about the open faced tuners, folks. This is how they were made years ago and they've stood the test of time. The finish on it is what sets it off. Just goes to show that you don't have to cover wood with laquer. The only downfall I can see is the pickguard color just doesnt quite match the Sunburst finish. That's nothing, as it can be easily changed. You will not regret buying this instrument. It's definitely one to hold on to.

For the money, you cnnot get a better sounding guitar. Look at the spruce top, the grain is better than most guitar I have seen. It's a loud guitar, it projects very well. This epiphone sounds better than some martins and taylors.Buy it.

    Great Guitar

    By Lito

    from Boston, MA

Everybody I know had been raving about Blueridge acoustics, particularly about their price. But for the same price range, these Masterbilts blow 'em away (not to mention the X-Series Martins, etc). Far and away the best sounding, easiest playing, and most comfortable acoustic undera grand that I have ever owned.
