I've had several Epiphone guitars over the years, but when I heard about the Masterbuilt series from a Gibson tech I had to try one. Amazing! The AJ500M I received from this site is superb. While I am not a professional player there is nothing I would change on this instrument. I had quite expected to spend another bill or so on a hard shell case. No need. The 'rigid' gig bag (included by Epiphone) my friends want to order for their own guitars! Depending upon your style of playing, this can be a very mellow instrument or project itself well. 'Out of the box' the action needs no work, the sound is amazing with All solid wood construction and satin finish. Personally I think a true value in today's market. From my perspective Epiphone's web site for the Masterbuilt series is right on! Many guitars are available in this price range for sure. So play a Gibson, Martin, Taylor, etc., and then play the Masterbuilt series. You will be pleasantly surprised at the quality and money saved. At least I was!

BIG!!!

By Anonymous

I already own the DR500ME and the EF500RA and I had to compliment them by getting the AJ500M. Great big sound is what I get. Another fine Masterbilt guitar. I put a L.R. Baggs I-Beam in it and boy, this is a sweet sounding guitar...

For the money, you cnnot get a better sounding guitar. Look at the spruce top, the grain is better than most guitar I have seen. It's a loud guitar, it projects very well. This epiphone sounds better than some martins and taylors.Buy it.

new epi is fantastic

The new masterbuilt epi is a great guitar. I compared it to higher priced guitars and it sounded as good or better than a lot of high end acoustics. I loved it and bought one and I play it everyday.

Great Guitar

By Lito

Everybody I know had been raving about Blueridge acoustics, particularly about their price. But for the same price range, these Masterbilts blow 'em away (not to mention the X-Series Martins, etc). Far and away the best sounding, easiest playing, and most comfortable acoustic undera grand that I have ever owned.

Awesome Guitar

This acoustic rivals guitars that cost twice the price. Great sound! Easy to play! The gig bag that comes with the guitar is one of the nicest I've seen.

A Very Good Solid Mahogany Guitar.

By Wrangler2

This guitar is a great solid spruce, and solid mahogany acoustic. Great mellow mahogany sound. I own an older model Epiphone PR-350SM solid spruce/mahogany guitar that sounds wonderful with age. This newer version sounds just as sweet. The quality, fit and finish of detail is all there too. The only change I made to this guitar is to a bone saddle, and lowered the action slightly to my taste.

Everything is Right With This Guitar

I was in the store for strings and had no intentions on buying another guitar. I saw the Masterbilt AJ-500-M and thought I would play around with it for a while. At first I thought the price was a mistake or the guitar had to be damaged in a way I could not see. I literally took it to the store manager and asked "What's wrong with this guitar?" He put it best, "Nothing is wrong, everything is right with this guitar". An hour later I was walking out the door with a new Epiphone Masterbilt. The action and sound are excellent. Smooth fretwork & rich sounding with great sustain. The open tuners and simple adornments give this guitar a traditional 1930's appearance. Don't be fooled, this is not a $2,500 guitar and doesn't pretend to be. But for a price that could be confused with a low end guitar, you get sound and playability that could be confused with a high end guitar. My wife was so impressed, she forgave me for spending money. I very happy with this guitar.

a true bargain

By Anonymous

First of all, I would like to say that after sitting down with some Martins, Seagulls, S&P's, Garrisons, Tak's, etc, I found this to be the most comfortable. With that said, one should always keep in mind that comfort level of an instrument is going to be different for everyone. As far as my AJ500M, I've been extremely happy. This guitar has a very nice, full sound, is simple, yet attractive, and is very playable for me. The only complaint that I have is with the finish, as on very close inpection there are some small flaws in the finish. They aren't really visible, but it almost feels like some kind of transparent fiber was on the guitar during the finishing process. However, this is a minor complaint, considering the quality of the instrument. One other thing to mention, the case quality is top notch, and at the price this instrument sells at, is truly a steal.
