Comments about Epiphone Masterbilt EF-500R Fingerstyle Acoustic Guitar:

This is an fantastic guitar the neck takes a little getting used to but I quite like it.Guitar was ready to play right out of the box action was low but not buzzing the strings on it I replaced right away. The sound is well balanced & very loud I flatpick.I own A D-28 & A Simon&Patrick pro rosewood & this guitar will get A fair share of playing time. You will not ever find a better guitar for the money.Only problem I found was A few spots of glue on the side near the neck & A spot on the top by the bridge of unknown origin. But for the sound and playability & price I would buy another one in A heartbeat.

      epiphone great acoustic

Comments about Epiphone Masterbilt EF-500R Fingerstyle Acoustic Guitar:

Need to find a case that will fit
Epiphone makes the best gutars for under a thousand. This guitar has all the great wood you could ask for and built with good hands. The only thing missing is a case that will fit.It was also missing 2 screws for the trust rod cover and gibson tried to send through the mail which somehow was missing too.So this time maybe they will send it in a box.The ecos case will not fit this guitar.David
Missing 2 screws from the trust rod cover
      Make sure its on sale

      What a value!

Comments about Epiphone Masterbilt EF-500R Fingerstyle Acoustic Guitar:

Fantastic sounding guitar - and without trace of being used (it was "as new"). It probably hasn`t been played at all. It still has that "metallic" sound to it that`s so common with new guitars until the natural sound of the wood comes through after some playing.
The body was actually a little bigger than I expected. The bottom part barely fits into my dreadnaught case (it wasn`t a huge dreadnaught though). However, the slightly shallower body makes it more comfortable to play than a dreadnaught.

Still it sounds awesome. Best bass response I have ever heard from an acoustic. Still it has a mellow mid and decent high (which I suspect will only become better as the solid wood ages). Pluck a string and the sound still rings through the room for almost two minutes. This is my fifth guitar, I own a Little Martin LXK2 (which is beyond comparison as this Epiphone makes the Little Martin sound like a cheap toy - my wife told me so too, and she knows nothing about guitars). I also owned an Ayers all solid dreadnaught (this one definetly competes well with it), an Ibanez EWC-30 (which is brighter but the smaller body makes it sound very thin compared to this Masterbilt.
On the negative side, the action was way to high when it arrived - I could barely play it. Adjusted the truss rod (in what felt like 3-4 whole turns!) and now it plays like a charm. The neck is quite wider than what I`m used to, but that`s terrific for my fingerstyle (simon & garfunkel stuff). Chords sound good to, but this is the first guitar I`ve played where fingerstyling actually sounds "fuller" than open chords". Don`t know why.

I dare anyone to find a better sounding guitar at this price. And it`s beautiful too In a simplistic way.

      Gift From G-D

Comments about Epiphone Masterbilt EF-500R Fingerstyle Acoustic Guitar:

I have played the Epiphone Masterbilt EF-500R in various stores across the country (Guitar Center ib Greenwood, Indiana as an example). It has a great feel to my hands as I finger picked. While playing I noticed a wonderful tone it made with fingers alone. With a pick it boomed. When I get the money saved I'll look for one where ever I have to so I can have it. I say buy it if you find it!

      Epiphone EF-500R acoustic

Comments about Epiphone Masterbilt EF-500R Fingerstyle Acoustic Guitar:

This is the one of the guitar world's best kept secrets!....resonant tone, well balanced, not too bassy---Epiphone got it just right with this model. I don't even think they make these anymore--what you see online may be the unsold stock that is remaining. The rosewood back/sides is the ticket;very well made, with attention to detail. Could easily gig with this. Would come alive with a K&K pickup---maybe I can get one put in sometime. I only wish it had a regular case---the zippered soft/hard case is tedious to open after a time.

      Best one in the shop

Comments about Epiphone Masterbilt EF-500R Fingerstyle Acoustic Guitar:

I visited shops all over my city and found this guitar to be the nicest sounding of them all. It has all the necessary features you would want with an acoustic guitar with no electronics. It works very well with finger-style and is loud with a pick as well. Other acoustics were too quiet when played without a pick. The only things to be wary of with this is the "V" shaped neck. It can be a problem for some people (it didn't affect me much, though). And the neck is also slightly wider, which can be a good thing. I was also a little iffy about trying an Epiphone, but this is made from blueprints from before it was bought by Gibson. It's a diamond in the rough. I've had this guitar for a year now and I don't see myself replacing it any time soon.
