Epiphone has been at the forefront of making professional affordable instruments for over a century. And today, Epiphone still leads the way by combining old-world construction methods with cutting-edge designs. The PR-4E Acoustic-Electric guitar is a longtime fan favorite for its woody tone and great projection. And now, the Epiphone PR-4E Acoustic-Electric Player Pack offers both new and experienced players everything they need to play guitar in one package made with the peace of mind that comes with Epiphone’s Limited Lifetime warranty.

Epiphone PR-4E Acoustic-Electric Guitar
New guitar players love the Epiphone PR-4E Acoustic-Electric guitar and it’s been a best-seller for over a decade for its professional sound and quality construction—and all at a great price.

The PR-4E features a Select spruce top with a natural finish and a mahogany body. The "top" of any acoustic guitar is the source of its "voice" and acts as a kind of soundboard. Spruce is one of the preferred tonewoods when making acoustic guitars for its ability to hold up to hours of playing time in all kinds of venues and still project a rich tone. The PR-4E's Select spruce top is supported by vintage style X-bracing—just like vintage Epiphone Masterbilts—which not only supports the top, but also gives the PR-4E considerable volume and balance for its size. It’s a perfect guitar for singer-songwriters too. Thanks to the quality construction and combination of spruce and mahogany, the PR-4E doesn’t suffer from sounding "boomy" or "scooped" like other beginner’s guitars. The Venetian cutaway allows easy reach to the upper frets and gives the PR-4E a distinctive profile that’s both modern and classic.

The PR-4E’s mahogany body features 5-layer white and black binding and the mahogany neck has a pro-standard Rosewood fingerboard, a 1.68" nut, and single layer white binding along the neck. There are premium die-cast 14:1 ratio machine heads (tuners) on the Epiphone trademark Sloped Dovewing headstock along with a classic '60s era Epiphone logo.
Plugging In! The PR-4E’s piezo element pickup system is located under the saddle. The guitar's built-in electronics are mounted on the upper bout of the guitar and feature easy-to-use boost and cut controls for Treble, Middle, and Bass. There is also a Volume control along with a phase switch and a low battery light indicator. A 9-volt battery compartment is located next to the EQ controls allowing for quick changes during a show.

Epiphone Studio Acoustic-15C Amp
The Epiphone Studio Acoustic-15C is a perfect match to amplify the PR-4E's rich tone and the on-board EQ section allows a player to easily and quickly make fine adjustments for optimum sound. But it also includes an XLR mic input with its own volume control. You're ready to play anywhere with just your guitar, amp, and a microphone.

The Studio Acoustic-15C is a 15-watt amp with a specially designed 8" speaker in a closed-back cabinet. The amp includes two inputs—both a 1/4" instrument cable input (included) and an XLR (mic) cable input with individual volume controls for each channel. Just take your guitar, amp, and a mic to a club or any space and you’re ready to perform. The amp also includes a ¼ headphone input.

The Epiphone Studio Acoustic 15C's handy 3-band EQ offers a wide range of flexibility along with a rocker switch and switchable chorus effect with chorus speed. Sound engineers frequently use a chorus effect to emphasize an acoustic guitar's natural tone when mixing it with other electric instruments through a sound system. The Epiphone Studio Acoustic-15C’s multiple chorus options allow you to easily "dial in" your PR-4E’s tone on any size stage. The Epiphone PR-4E Acoustic/Electric Player Pack also includes an Epiphone gig bag, clip-on headstock tuner, strap, picks, and a 1/4" guitar cable.

Guitar Lessons
The PR-4E Acoustic-Electric Player Pack also comes with comprehensive online lessons from eMedia so beginners can dive right in and start playing.

For over 140 years, Epiphone has been a leader in creating innovative guitar designs and crafting fine instruments that anyone can afford. So many great songs start out being played on an acoustic guitar. And now Epiphone has made it easy for you. Everything you need to begin playing guitar is right here. This is certainly a package I'd recommend to someone with not a lot of money to spend. The amp is powerful enough for a small coffee-house, and as I said, the guitar is a treat to play. The included gig bag is what you'd expect in a package of this price, though you'll probably want to upgrade to one with more padding when you can.
This Epiphone is a very comfortable guitar to play. Having used it repeatedly for open-mic nights as well as weekly church services, this lightweight guitar is a treat, both to carry and to play. The 3-band eq is nicely balanced and accurate. I would have preferred a strap nut on the body of the guitar (on the left as you're holding it), rather than having to tie the strap at the head, but maybe that's just me.

The included 15W amp packs a lot of wollop for its size, though I found the built-in chorus fairly cheesy-sounding. Okay for that specific effect, I suppose, though I would have preferred a simple and more universally applicable reverb.
The guitar is constructed soundly, as you'd expect from any Epiphone product. I do have a frustrating problem, however, on the low E-string. No matter what I try, I have to tune it slightly flat in order to maintain accurate pitch when pressed. Plus, at least on mine, that same string plays just slightly "muddier" than the others. I'm sure no one notices but me (at least I hope that's the case). The instrument has a nice, warm sound, though I was a bit surprised at the folksy smallness of the sound. I'm sure it's just that I'd never played a smaller guitar before, and the sound works well for more earthy music. But for dinner music at a restaurant, you're better to stay with a fuller-sounding full-size.

And while solidly constructed, my amp developed a little "crackle" in the volume control long before I thought appropriate.
A very good guitar for the money. A killer deal? No, and I think a little more effort on Epiphone's part would have yielded a slightly less "buggy" instrument for the same money. Still, for 200 bucks, it does what it's supposed to do: sound good.

There are two MAJOR PROBLEMS with this guitar. The first one is that there's something wrong with the tuning key on the third string(G string), which makes it impossible for me to tune the string to G, the second one on the first string (E string, whichever fret I press from 9-15 fret, the sound will be like it's on 15th fret, same thing happen to the third string around 7-9 fret.

        Disappointed and wanna refund.

Comments about Epiphone PR-4E Acoustic-Electric Guitar Player Pack:

Seriously folks, I was hesitant, and I am VERY glad I overcame that and ordered this Value Pack. The guitar was set up great when I got it. I changed over to D'Addario Light Phospher Bronze strings, tuned it and that was it. Plug and Jam, the action is great all the way up the board. No buzz, none at all. I tune using rhe Equal Tempered (Perfect Fifth) and she holds the tuning through lots of hours of hard playing. I tend to be rather heavy handed and have had zero problems. I am very pleased with the Epi and recomend it highly. Especially to beginers, the action is so light they will not need to suffer through sore fingers so much. In the words of The Monkees, I'm A Believer.

I have found Epiphone to be your best value. I have had this guitar for about 8 months and it has become my go-to acoustic. This guitar is well made, sounds great. I love the size, being smaller than a dreadnought. I put a set of Martin FX Flexible Core strings on it and that made this guitar the easyest to play acoustic I own.

I bought a used pack and it is one of the best guitars I've ever owned. It was in condition 2 and looked like it had never been played. I'm really a bass player but need an acoustic for recording, writing, and playing at church. Great amp too.

Love the electronic tuner (I really dislike the pitchpipes so having an acutal tuner is really nice).

The only thing I noticed on mine is that tuning the G string (no pun intended) is really hard as you get close to the right key (and I mean dramatically harder than any of the other strings). Other than that, I'm really satsified with my new kit.

Comments about Epiphone PR-4E Acoustic-Electric Guitar Player Pack:

I ordered this guitar in February and didn't receive it until April. I kept getting told of new ship dates and was getting quite frustrated. I know it wasn't Musician's Friend's fault and they were always pleasant when I called to ask about it.

However, once it finally arrived, I was happier with this guitar than I expected. The guitar has great action out of the box, a magnificent sound, and easy playability. The natural finish was better than the picture shows (the actual guitar is not white on the sides). I am still amazed at the quality of this guitar for the price.

The amp that is included has a great sound as well and includes two inputs (one microphone style plug and a standard 1/4" plug) as well as a chorus (reverb) button. The only thing I didn't like was the strap and gig bag. I am not a gig bag person so I pretty much just left that in its package (I prefer the hard cases). The strap is just not comfortable or easy to put on or take off of the guitar. I would buy a seperate strap with this set.
