This is certainly a package I'd recommend to someone with not a lot of money to spend. The amp is powerful enough for a small coffee-house, and as I said, the guitar is a treat to play. The included gig bag is what you'd expect in a package of this price, though you'll probably want to upgrade to one with more padding when you can.
This Epiphone is a very comfortable guitar to play. Having used it repeatedly for open-mic nights as well as weekly church services, this lightweight guitar is a treat, both to carry and to play. The 3-band eq is nicely balanced and accurate. I would have preferred a strap nut on the body of the guitar (on the left as you're holding it), rather than having to tie the strap at the head, but maybe that's just me.

The included 15W amp packs a lot of wollop for its size, though I found the built-in chorus fairly cheesy-sounding. Okay for that specific effect, I suppose, though I would have preferred a simple and more universally applicable reverb.
The guitar is constructed soundly, as you'd expect from any Epiphone product. I do have a frustrating problem, however, on the low E-string. No matter what I try, I have to tune it slightly flat in order to maintain accurate pitch when pressed. Plus, at least on mine, that same string plays just slightly "muddier" than the others. I'm sure no one notices but me (at least I hope that's the case). The instrument has a nice, warm sound, though I was a bit surprised at the folksy smallness of the sound. I'm sure it's just that I'd never played a smaller guitar before, and the sound works well for more earthy music. But for dinner music at a restaurant, you're better to stay with a fuller-sounding full-size.

And while solidly constructed, my amp developed a little "crackle" in the volume control long before I thought appropriate.
A very good guitar for the money. A killer deal? No, and I think a little more effort on Epiphone's part would have yielded a slightly less "buggy" instrument for the same money. Still, for 200 bucks, it does what it's supposed to do: sound good.

There are two MAJOR PROBLEMS with this guitar. The first one is that there's something wrong with the tuning key on the third string(G string), which makes it impossible for me to tune the string to G, the second one on the first string (E string, whichever fret I press from 9-15 fret, the sound will be like it's on 15th fret, same thing happen to the third string around 7-9 fret.

Disappointed and wanna refund.

Comments about Epiphone PR-4E Acoustic-Electric Guitar Player Pack:

Excellent Price from Musicians Friend Customer Service Department. I bought this Package in lieu of Buying the Yamaha APX 500 Thin line Acoustic Electric. I got more bang for the buck. However, the reason why the Yamaha more is due to its build and sound. The PR-4E is a great product with a great price. The Amplifier that comes with it has a nice 15 watt sound along with it's chorus. However, the Guitar itself lacks a little when it's being played Acoustically. When it's plugged in, it is awesome and has an easy neck to practice chords and lead riffs. Overall, this was a great buy and I'd do it again knowing what I know now. I still want the Yamaha APX500!!

played for over 40 yrs. Own 2 pr 5"s I play professionally. Not as nice as they are, but would have given my eye teeth to have had this for my first guitar. As always musicians friend and Epiphone have outdone themselves.

Comments about Epiphone PR-4E Acoustic-Electric Guitar Player Pack:

I got this player pack as an "Open Box" that was described as "mint condition." When I opened it, I was a bit discouraged to find that the pick-up had become dislodged and was hanging inside the guitar. The adhesive strip used to place the pick up had fallen from its position and had collected dust so it was no longer sticky. Being a complete novice, I had no idea where to place this for optimal sound quality so I loosened the strings, grabbed it and placed it inside the guitar under the saddle. It sounds okay to me.

Overall this guitar is nice for the money. The amp that comes with it is decent for the price and seems to compliment this guitar well. Again, I am complete novice so I have nothing for comparison.

I am pleased with the purchase and would buy from Musician's Friend again.

I purchased this for my husband, who's tooled around with cheaper acoustic guitars in the past...couldn't wait to give it to him for Christmas, so an early present!
He's very happy with it so far...only issue to report is it going out of tune more frequently than he expected, but as neither of us are musicians, that may be more on us than on the guitar itself!
REALLY happy with my purchase...made the best gift ever!

I got this pack back in the 2011 (the ebony one). And I could say that I got no problems at all. Nice guitar, good craft, nice sound, and decent pickup.
I'm not saying that I'm going to play with this one on a stadium, but for the price, Is a very good piece. The amplifier has a decent sound also; not the best, but has a good one for small places.

A nice pack for playing in bars in my opinion.
