Don't Leave Home Without One (Ephiphone SG-Special)

Features:

At this price a guitar's features are going to be basic, but that's exactly what I wanted. The SG-Special's "killswitch" feature is, uh... well, perhaps added by marketing guys? When I want to "kill" a guitar I just lay my hand on the strings or I turn the volume to zero. Not sure what this feature is for.

Quality:

If stuff starts falling off over time then I'll have a complaint, but right out of the box everything feels solid and everything works.

Value:

The SG-Special tuned well out of the box, and within a day or two it was stable. The neck is easy to play. I get a little buzzing with some fingerings out of the E6 and A5, but I've decided not to adjust that out because it doesn't get picked up and I like how close to the neck the strings are. To get a "10" I'd like to pay even less for this guitar, but don't we all want something for nothing?

Overall:

I wanted a backup for performances in case something falls off my 40-year old Strat. I am completely satisfied with the SG-Special. I play through a GT-10 effects box, and the SG-Special's pickups seem to come through very nicely across all frequencies.

5 YEARS STRONG!!!!!!!!!

Features:

The guitar has a three way pick up, very sturdy switch and two knobs, one for volume other for tone.  After 3 years the volume knob became loose but i eventually found out you can slide it right off and tighten the nut which makes it good as new

Overall the strings are fairly close to the fret board and the fret  board itself is nice and flat, which is great for playing fast. Yet they are far enough away to avoid string buzzing.

The  rythm humbucker puts out a surprisingly warm tone, and treble (lead)  humbucker is great for that punchy, punk rock sound.

Changing strings is a piece of cake, and it  stays in tune exactly how you would want it too.

Quality:

This was my first  guitar and I've been playing it for 5 years.  Overall  you couldn't ask  for a more reliable guitar for the money.  This  guitar is light weight  and extremely durable.

Value:

Over the years I've tried several different guitars for around this  price range, as high as a $350 guitar, and couldn't bring myself to  spend the money because it didn't feel nearly as good as my Epiphone SG Special.  I could only se myself upgrading to another SG Model possibly a Gibson.  Epiphone really has a great thing going with this guitar.

Overall:

This is my first review of anything instrument realted.  I've upgraded amps three times since having this guitar because I saw no point in upgrading guitars.  To top it all off, my cherry red paint finish still looks great.  Buy this guitar you will not be disapointed.

Features:

Finish was excellent espicially for a used item no blemishes, scratches or dings.really suprised. neck was smooth and radius perfect for my hands, pots were responsive and smooth. The only flaw my opinion was the pick ups not as hot as I'd like and being replaced as I type this. But for the price a good buy for the beginner as boxed, but with set up for the individual as good as the low end Gibson.

Features:

Just picked this up at guitar center. tried out the gibson sg standard and ultimately went towards this because of price and comfort. its really good for the money. Gonna swap out the pickups down the road, but thats a more personal prefrence than anything. I'd recomend this to anyone looking for a good SG

Quality:

Not bad at all. light weight, smooth neck, good tone, ect.

Value:

Pickups arent my taste, but then again im always dissatisfied with stock pickups.

Overall:

awesome...enough said.
