What more can I say to endorse this guitar ? It is by far one of the best buys for the dollar spent , I like to say invested ,largely in part to what one receives from something ,opposite that which only takes. Some years back when money was very tight , I had to make the compromises to building that which would always be mine , not mine and the banks. I endured the years I had to play a strat made outside the USA, I have the finest, latest technologic strat now.AND a world of differance to be certian, HOW EVER I bought the EPI PHONE SHERATON all those years back and I have it still and love to play it as much as my Gibson 339 , the Sheraton is an investment for your ears and your sole ,it can not disappoint , it does not disappoint, if you learn to play guitar, learn on one of the best starter to novice to professional, everyone likes my Sheraton.
The day had arrived ,I had applied the last dollars into my guitar fund , with cash in hand I went to the Music Store to purchase the Epiphone Prophecy GX that had me salivating from the moment I had picked up a floor model some 4 months earlier , as I awaited the service persons assistance , I looked upon the collection of Gibson 339's and cotemplated the way this sweet sound of golden nectar would enhance the warm generous harmonies of Delta Blue's I was learning to play ,along with the need for clean , brilliant leads built into the songs of that sound . Knowing the accounting to the day such a purchase could occur for me in my guitar fund , I thought I might try an Epi to provide me a reasonable alternative. The Sheriton , the Sheriton has a sound that can achieve all that is required for Delta Majic, a true tone with such clean pitch , as close as one can get in my ear to B B King , John Lee Hooker , and yes even some Muddy Waters. There are many whom would have stayed the coarse and purchased the Prophecy , I know for they told me as much over the years of conversation respectively , This guitar is in a collection of more than twenty and lesss than one hundred , I never get tired of the sweet sounds of golden nectar this guitar is capable of , I am always happy when I have it in my playing hands , an most of all this guitar is capable when others with higher price tags can not get it done . The Epiphone Sheriton is a must have in my ear , body and soul. Love with Music , Respectfully a1longshore44
Exellent guality control , alot of thoughtful engineering went into producing this guitar , it is as solid in overall body build as one of my much more expensive cousins to this type and kind , the electronics are vastly greater than one would expect of a guitar in the price catagory.
The value to return on investment is one of the highest in all comparable senarios , this guitar is easily one of my most favorite ,now at a time in my life when my guitar fund can provide me almost what ever I want . I have purchased the Gibson 339 , and while the electronics are destinctivle to the 339 ,the overall guality of feel and control of the vibe in my hands are very much that of the Sheraton. The Epi Phone ,Gibson people whom thaught this thing through , to put a Better guitar into the rising musicians hands , well done . This guitar never disappoints, always ready , with a quick tune right out of her case , she keeps up with the big daugs !

I had the bad luck to get a buzzy, anemic sounding guitar with heartbreakingly good looks. (I chose the natural finish..oooh la la) I knew this was a possibility, and expected to make modifications shortly after purchase when I ordered it. I wish I didn't have to get the frets redressed though. Even at a bargain price, a guitar should work like its supposed to when newly purchased. I can live with the poor quality electronics as part of the budget. Ok, so, I get the frets worked on, have a bone nut installed, replaced all of the lame pots with more responsive pots, got a sturdier pick up switch, and lastly, and not leastly at all, a set of Honkin' Seymour Duncan Pearly Gates put in! Top it off with a good set up with low action. So, now, after spending again what I paid for the guitar, I have a guitar that rivals my Gibson Les Paul Classic in tone and playability, it surpasses my Gibson L6-S in all catagories. I have a US Fender Tele that I put a set of Gibson 59 classics in that I like a lot, but I think I like this Epi better. It's number 2 now after the Les Paul. Here's a good test of it too. A buddy of mine has a 10,000.00 '60 Gibson ES 335 dot, and we put 'em side by side and duked it out. The Epi, after the mods is easier to play, and more responsive in tone IMHO. My friend agreed with me on playability, but not on the tone. He thinks its close, but his ears say the real thing sounds like the real thing, good as the Sheraton sounds. Those Pearly Gates are dynamite! I can't tell much difference, but the Shearton is very dynamic sounding now...but he also has a lot of bread sank into his vintage axe, so take a grain of salt w/ it. We both agreed the Sheraton was a looker. But then, his ol' Gibson has been through the wars, while the Sheraton is still a baby! You have to say, whatever you think about these guitars, the Shearton II's are gorgeous.Bottom line, think of this as part of a kit, and upgrade it. You'll have a very fine guitar with some more spending, and while maybe not have a real 335, you'll be in the "bada**" category just the same.

Comments about Epiphone Sheraton II Electric Guitar:

I was somewhat nervous when I placed my order because of the comments others had made about having to make structural modifications. I had played this guitar many years ago and really liked it to the point I never forgot it. So after not playing for roughly 30 years, I had it in my head this was the way I wanted to go. BTW guitar is NOT like riding a bicycle! But it really is neat when the fingerings start to come back to you, without you having to think about it. I love this guitar, it's easy to play, the tone is OK (although I suspect I'll eventually get an archtop) and although not cheap, it is very reasonably priced. I bought a restock and it looks new.Speaking of looks, I really did not care about how it looks, just how it plays, but this is VERY pretty. Ironically, I suffered an arm injury just before it arrived. So I spent more time looking at it than I would have expected! It has a lovely narrow neck and I have not had any issues with fret buzz. Shipping and packing were fine. The one guilt factor I had to deal with was my local music store, who refers to Musician's Friend as the evil empire. I bought my amp, case, etc. locally, but they did not offer anything close price wise to this guitar, and in all honesty, if it had not been for Musician's Friend I probably would not have returned to playing, and for that I am greatful! I really do love this guitar.

Comments about Epiphone Sheraton II Electric Guitar:

I own a Sheraton made in the early 90's and I love this thing! Build quality is top notch all the way, and tone is exactly what you would expect from a guitar such as this. The neck pickup has a very warm jazzy sound, the bridge has a great sound for classic rock and the like, and the two combined makes for a good tone for rhythm playing and chording. Is a great guitar for the price, am enjoying playing this guitar!

Comments about Epiphone Sheraton II Electric Guitar:

Bought it new in '88, wouldn't get rid of it now. Not happy w/ bridge p/u, changed out for set of Seymour Duncans, new wiring and pots. Plays as well as any Gibby I've played in the last 25 years, and sounds great with the Duncans. Best bang for the buck in a semi hollow guitar in it's price range.

Comments about Epiphone Sheraton II Electric Guitar:

Overall, I am happy with this guitar. It looks and sounds great after a good setup. Mine came with a poorly shaped nut, cut too low, and consequent fret buzz. I replaced the tuning machines with Grover gold locking ones, and had it professionally setup. It also had a crack in the pearl inlay at the 12th fret, but I can live with it. For the price, I am happy. I also bought a hard case for it, and have absolutely no idea why MF did not ship the guitar IN THE CASE!

Comments about Epiphone Sheraton II Electric Guitar:

I've been wanting this guitar for years. I finally could afford it and ordered it. It took a little longer to ship than normal, maybe 3 or so days, but it was quick getting here when it shipped.

When it arrived, the setup seemed pretty excellent out of the box. I just plugged her in and played. And let me tell you, she sounded incredible. The bridge pickup gives a nice and well rounded tone in clean settings and with distortion and overdrive. No feedback issues at all so far.

The neck pickup is nice in clean, but gets muddy when you add some gain. It's not terrible but certainly not great. I'll probably get Gibson '57s for both neck and bridge.

All things considered, this is the best guitar I've owned and played and definitely worth the money.

Comments about Epiphone Sheraton II Electric Guitar:

Very nice quality guitar, Other then the 3 way switch seems flimsy. Not sure how long it will hold up with use. Like the reviewer below me, Musicians Friend price matched a lower price from a local competitor for me also. With the savings I bought a case too. I own a natural and it came with ZERO blemishes on it. Plays well right out of the box with low action and no buzz. Pickups are OK but bridge seems like its darker sounding then what I am used to. Still sounds good though. Made in Korea, Neck feels nice, Good projection playing unplugged. Cool vine inlay on the headstock. All in all a sweet guitar that nails that Oasis sound through my Marshall stack. Thanks Musicians Friend for another Smokin' Deal!!!

Comments about Epiphone Sheraton II Electric Guitar:

I played a Dot, 335-Pro and the Sheraton at Guitar Center and as soon as I picked up the Sheraton I knew which one I wanted. It felt even better than it looked and sounded sweet. I wanted the Ebony model but I noticed they had a Natural one on clearance. I asked for the clearance price on the Ebony model and they wouldn't do it. I called Musicians Friend and they matched the clearance price. I love these guys! This is the second guitar I have purchased this year, don't tell my wife, both from Musicians Friend. The first one needed a set up, which Musicians Friend paid for, but the Sheraton was set up great right out of the box. The neck was perfect and I was able to lower the action to where I like and I couldn't be happier with my purchase! Thanks again Musicians Friend!

P.S. They did not pay me to write this!
