Comments about ESP H-308 LTD 8-String Electric Guitar:

This guitar is awesome, best I've owned and nearly the best I've played. Takes some time to adjust to getting from the bottom string to other places; it easily has better action than my "5(|-|3(70r |-|3LLr41$3r dL><" - but I do kind of miss the flat fretboard.

The neck is extremely comfortable and fast, set up really well from the factory. I don't know that a "pro" set up would be any better.

It has a little fret buzz on the bottom two strings, but playing with distortion you won't notice it. If you wanted to play clean all the time I would suggest a longer neck scale.

The bottom string seems a little floppy from the short neck scale, and tuning it below E would make it almost unplayable I think. At F# it is snappy and mean when it is time to dig way down and punish :)

Putting some foam behind the nut is a must. The 808s really pick up everything, and the resonance from any string not carefully muted and still rings throughout.

I got this guitar with "(L34r70|\|3" strings, which sounded like mud and made me wonder if I had ordered the wrong guitar. I replaced them with an "3r|\|13 b4LL" 8 string set and it is super tight now.

My 5(|-|3(70r with EMGs is like a razor blade, it maniacally cuts through the mix. The h308 took some time to dial in, but it does the samenow, like biting on an electrical cord.

Going from a six string to an eight, this is definitely a totally different guitar and takes some time to get your head around the scale progressions especially if you are used to a drop D modal tuning.

If you play through a DAW, you might think at first the bottom strings (especially the eighth) have little output. Just dial back the bass, a cutoff at 100hz or so, and the bottom strings comes to life.

Comments about ESP H-308 LTD 8-String Electric Guitar:

I like the guitar but the stock strings were a bit heavy for me. I went down to 9's and everything is fine.
There was some fret buzz on the stock strings and that didn't change when I added the lighter gauge. I've heard it said that most people put even heavier strings on this short scale 8 string, but I'm not interested in ripping my fingers to shreds and starting a fresh set of callouses just for two extra strings.
Other than that, a nice guitar. the active P.U.s give the leads a singing tone. The lower strings can be a bit muddy, but that's because of the short scale (25.5") of the guitar.
I haven't sent it back, so I'm pleased.

Comments about ESP H-308 LTD 8-String Electric Guitar:

I have owned this guitar for several months now. I have a hard time putting it down! The craftsmanship is excellent. I have not found anything I could complain about yet. I have been playing guitar for 20 years and this is by far my favorite I have played/owned. The neck feels great, pickups sound awesome. I play hard metal and being able to have that top F string just adds a deeper sense of butality. If you want something that allows you to stay in standard E and at the same time have that low B and F sharp this is what you need. The possibilities are endless with this guitar! Everybody should have one.

        simply awesome

Comments about ESP H-308 LTD 8-String Electric Guitar:

Overall I recommend this guitar to anyone that has had a 'negative' experience with other 'long scale' 8 string guitars and anyone looking to experience the extended range frontier. I do somewhat agree with the 'floppyness factor' when tuning WAY down but hello people, are we approaching spinal tap or what? If you are tuning that far down you may actually want to purchase an extended range bass guitar
This guitar is flippin awesome! Many people down the 'short' scale 8 string guitars but this guitar just feels right. I've tried the usual 8 string guitars (1ban3z and 5ch3ct0r) and they honestly feel cumbersome and bulky. This feels like a regular 6 string guitar with an extra wide fret board.
A big thing for me is the back of the neck which on this one is smooth to the touch. It doesn't catch on your hand like most painted (53ct0r) guitars do. Great paint job and feel. The grey/white trim (somewhat camo looking) is perfectly smooth to the touch. They did a nice job on this one.
I rated value as 'no opinion' since they price matched another vendor. You rock musicians friend! But after having this in my hands..... yes.....I would have paid the going price.
