This is a beautiful instrument! I've had a very hard time finding anything that could make me as happy as my Ibanez guitars, but this one has changed that. This guitar has great tonal possibilities by incorporating a coil splitter with some great sounding pickups. A fast neck and low action along with being deceivingly comfortable in any position makes the playability of this beast monsterous. Past experience has told me that usually guitars that are all pointy and dangerous looking are lacking in quality or playability or both, so I was a bit skeptical at first, but this guitar has changed the rules. The only complaint I can muster is that they went a bit heavy with the clearcoat on the neck around the edge of the fretboard causing a little chipping of the clear at the edges of some frets, but really not bad and certainly does not cause any problems. I was very pleasantly surprised by this monster, buy one and you will be too.
I was shocked as soon as I pulled this guitar out of the box and tuned it up, no work done on it, the sound was crisp, clean, and powerful. The tone is amazing, the neck is perfect, and it's beautiful. The value of this guitar is mind-blowing, I actually prefer these pickups over EMG-81's. This guitar is well worth at least $1,200. ESP won me over with this model. It surpasses all of the Gibsons, Ibanez's, Fenders, and Jacksons I've played and owned. This guitar is honestly a true value for a player of any skill level. Thank you ESP!
Okay so this is a lot of pressure being the first one to review this guitar. In short, it's absolutely beautiful. The appearance, the sound and the quality are all amazing. I've never had a guitar with coil splitting before this one. It really gives you the ability to make your guitar have six different sounds. The humbuckers are awesome and scream metal. I've always used ESP/LTD guitars and this is hands down my favorite. My one small complaint is that there are a couple of dings in the surface on the neck. I guess that can happen when you work with wood though. Otherwise, I recommend getting this guitar if you really want to rock.
Well I havent been playing guitar but over a couple years now, and this hands down is the greatest guitar I've owned yet. This guitar just screames metal and thats what I love about it. And it has one very nice finish on it.
The ax-2e is a sweet deal. The thin u neck is very fast and comfortable. The emg pickups in it scream. With the coil splitter you can go from heavy metal to crystal clear classical with the pull of the knob. The mahogany body and neck-thru design give it such a fat full sound. You just can't go wrong with this axe, especially the price.
i purchased this guitar and wow what a GREAT deal it was. First off the cosmetic look of this guitar is amazing, the ebony wood top is great and the mahogany is beautiful. the black chrome hardware looks very nice! the only cosmetic flaw that i have seen is that around some of the frets the finish is a bit rushed and the 12th fret inlay hole was a bit bigger than the inlay itself in the top left corner. None of these effect playing whatsoever! Playing this thing is amazing. it has a nice thin neck that is thick enough to comfortably play chords and thin enough to play faster stuff. it sounds great the tone of the wood is very nice. the split coil is amazing. the clean sounds you can get with the split coil is insane! so starkly and clean.overall for the sale price, you must get this guitar it is a steal!!
Yes this guitar is WELL worth the money and very cool , alot better than the pics , pics make you think the body is too fat for the headstock , nope. The fretboard is advertised as ebony but mine has rosewood , im 38 years old , I know the difference. I am still very pleased with this guitar rosewood is cool anyway.
Great guitar overall, even better for the money you pay. The pickups were much better than I originally expected. It handles low tunings well. And has a nice overall tone. There's just a few things that get under my skin a bit. The clear coat is way too thick, especially around the neck, and has began chipping around the edge of the fretboard. Which I think might also be holding back a bit of the instruments natural tone. The frets were pretty sloppily finished and are pretty jagged around the edges. Nothing too major but definitely irritating. All in all Great guitar, that needs to be played in a bit.
So I bought this guitar because I've always been interested in the AX series and wanted somethin new. I currently have an ESP Viper-300 series, and this guitar honestly may have taken over a majority of its playing time. The neck feels so amazing. I guess the Viper's neck must be thicker, because I play much faster on this guitar. This guitar catches harmonics better than the Viper does, and the pickups sound brutal. Although I don't really use the coil splitter, it's a nice feature to have. The guitar looks great, feels great, sounds great, and plays great.
I just played this at the store for like a half hour and it just sounded and felt amazing. I don't own it but judging from how it sounded there I am definitely going to get it.
