WOW! My friend has this guitar, and it kicks SOOO much #%@ for an ESP. I am somewhat anti-ESP, but this guitar is a Mustaine, and no matter how much you hate the dude, he IS an awesome guitarist. His guitar is awesome too, I played it, and it is smoother than a babies bottom! It could use a Floyd Rose tremelo, but heck, it is a custom, and not having the Floyd Rose does make the feel a little bit more original. The guitar bassically sounds awesome and kicks #$!. Now you may think, well, it is just for looks, but looks aren't everything. Well, the "looks" factor of this guitar dont mean $!%^, cause it stills sounds better than any Kirk Hammett guitar!
Fast action neck with ebony fretboard is amazing. It almost has a Jackson style neck to it. The pickup selection is choice for metal even if they are stock. This is a must have pro guitar.
I have owned a KV-1 Dave Mustaine signature guitar from Jackson for several years now; I have to say it is lightyears beyond this guitar. The ESP is nice, but the FEEL and the TONE really don't compare to it's Jackson counterpart. I would have to suggest searching for a used (and still in good condition) KV-1. If the Jackson is not an option, then this guitar is a good second choice.
I have owned a Dv8r Dv8rse and I also have a Jackson Y2KV. This guitar is awesome I own a few jackson a dean a washburn and some others and this guitar blows them away. It has perfect Tone and Fell for me fast neck easy to play, I play Metal, Rock, Blues, Jazz and even classical and this guitar works for all of those for the price it's really good!
This guitar rocks - it is an awesome guitar, if you got the money, buy this guitar. You won't be disappointed, I promise!
I can't help but to give this amzing guitar all 10's. I owned an old King V standard in high school (because I couldn't afford the signature KV1, which was only $999 from MF in '93, HA!)For the money this LTD is a fantastic instrument. The pickup set rocks, the flushmount straplocks are cool and the finish is beautiful. I just took it to the shop to be set up for 10-52 strings and I love it even more now. You will not be disappointed in this guitar (as long as you get it in silver :))
This guitar is one of the best metal guitars to have. Its sound is awesome but could do a little better, and the neck action is awesome. I can really get down to the high notes and do some serious shredding when I need to. If I could buy any other guitar, it would have to be just like this one because it's the best one so far.
i've own this guitar for about six months now, and i love it. getting up the the higher frets are very, and the neck through body is awesome. it seems to have alot of bass though, and sitting down blows... but an overall good guitar
Light weight, strap-locks are right where they should be, Killer sustain, great tone, fretboard is so fast my hand caught on fire.....asthetically irritating fretboard workmanship......should have spent a little more time sanding the sides for final detailing. Otherwise this is a killer guitar. Now I need to pick up an amp that will give it justice. Just buy one you'll love it.
This is my first guitar which I have saved my money for a while to get and it is definitely worth it. The pickups are both crisp and smooth and the body has a beautiful finish to it. Anyone wanted to shred some real hard metal and looking good at it, I suggest buying this guitar.
Man, this is undoubtedly my best guitar purchase ever. The first time i played it was through a marshall 150 watt half stack, and man, it screams metal. Im starting up a megadeth tribute band, and this is gonne be the perfect axe to give us a good deth sound.
Great axe thats all I have to say and the price isnt to high like others say for this axe it right in the ball park they sell way more expensive axes that are terrible, so go buy one
There's no doubt this is an incredible guitar. Very light weight, very comfortable when playing standing up. I dont know why people have put this guitar down because you cant play it sitting down. Stand up damn it! Anyway my only problem with this guitar is there is no whammy bar attachment. This hurts the guitar because whammy bars are a huge part of playing 'Metal'.That is the only disappointment I've had with mine. Still, all in all the DVR-8 is definitely worth the price.
This is a very kick'n guitar! Everything about it is fantastic. I read all the reviews before I bought one, and the thing that suprised me that noone mentioned is how good it sounds playing clean using the jazz pickups! Wow! The tone is terrific. Well worth the money.
After having this gutar for about a month now, I can honestly say that it is a marvelous Axe. Tons of sustain, the high frets are easy to reach, amazing distortion AND clean sounds, and my personal favorate body style! The lack of tremolo is the only thing that its missing. But if u know how to play the guitar right, it wont be a problem. An absolute must buy for your first high quality guitar.
When I say saw this on the site, I was suprised people give it a 9 for features. I played it before and, well it's missing one thing, a tremolo. That's why I still think my Jackson (RR5) is better than this. If it had a tremelo this WOULD be the best guitar out there.
Nice pickups, great all around - major sound!
I purchased this guitar today and this bad boy is amazing. I own gibson V's and Jackson V's but they are know match for the DV-R-8 the Gibson comes close but ...as far as features sperzel locking tuners keep it in tune, theres know need for a whammy bar if you know how to play the guitar well you can do all that stuff with out it! Buy it and Love it! This guitar is a scorcher and it shreds and can sing the blues or Jazz it up!
This guitar is really cool! Dave Mustaine is the original iron man, and this guitar is totally up to his standards, it deserves to bear his name!
It's hard to describe how wicked this guitar truly is because you will never know how perfect this guitar is util you test drive for yourself. The almost infinite sustain can break glass and the tone will blow your brains out.
