An enhanced edition of Dave's signature axe!
This VERY limited beauty has a flamed maple top with a hot flameburst that goes from the tips of the vee to the neck pocket. Just like the Mustaine Signature DV8-R, the SE features neck-thru-body construction, a TonePros string-thru tune-o-matic bridge, a pair of Seymour Duncan pickups (JB in the bridge, Jazz in the neck), and Sperzel locking tuners. Loads of sustain, super stable tuning, plenty of crunch, and searing lead sounds make this the perfect metal axe. The 8-ball inlay on the first fret plus the white neck and headstock binding make it look as good as it sounds.
- 25-1/2" scale, neck-thru-body construction
- Mahogany body with flamed maple top
- Flameburst finish
- Mahogany neck with rosewood fretboard
- 24 jumbo frets
- TonePros string-thru tune-o-matic bridge
- Seymour Duncan pickups (JB in the bridge, Jazz in the neck)
- 2 volume controls, tone knob, and 3-way toggle switch
- Sperzel locking tuners
- 8-ball inlay on the 1st fret plus dots

For any Megadeth fan or metal fan, for that matter, you can't go wrong with this guitar!! Screaming highs, killer sustain and awesome looks are all included in this instrument!!! I own 14 electrics and this one rates in my top five!! The only negative (If you can call it that) is that you pretty much have to play it standing up!!-thus it is not a practice guitar. You can't go wrong with this one!!!
When my wife agrees with me to make a purchase in this amount, I can't go wrong. This is plainly a sexy guitar. I played it for the first time at full volume at our last show and all I can say is WOW! This guitar not only looks great but plays extremely easy and well. The neck is fast, the action low, and pickups sound great! There's only 200 of these so get yours quick.
I've always wanted a good neck through 'V' and this one really hit the spot with its price. I also wanted a fixed bridge, since every electric I have has a trem. I was really impressed with the appearance when I opened the case, just beautiful. GREAT SUSTAIN! The neck feels SUPER natural in my hands and fits great. Doesn't take any 'getting use to' when I pick up my other axes (PRS, Ibanez, Fender). I plug her in on the clean channel and SUSTAIN! I go through Ultra and Crunch channels and the Duncan pups sound and work great with the guitar. It has a different electronics setup (to me anyway) as it has a three way switch and two volume, one tone knob. It does take a little getting used to, the way the strap fits, the way the guitar sits when your playing, the higher frets. The Sperzel tuners and dunlop strap locks are a nice touch. The tuners seem to be great, I've never owned a set but so far (one day ) they work great. Did I probably pay more just because Dave's name is on it? Probably. Do I feel cheated. NOPE! Is it for everyone? Probably not. Really, it's now my second best guitar I own in regards to tone, sustain and overall playability.
I just recieved my Special Edition DVR-8, and let me tell you this guitar has a killer look aswell as killer tone. I just love these Seymour Duncan pups. This is my first V, and i'm more than happy. This guitar is very light and easy to play. Musicians. Friend does an awesome job with packing. Came with locking strap nuts, and awesome ESP case. Awesome value for an awesome signature guitar. Buy it! And you just might not put it down,Ever.
This guitar is really great. Very close to his Y2KV from Jackson. The Mahogany body is lighter than the Y2KV. The wood is not as dense. Still it sounds great. ESP should of spent alittle more time dressing the frets though.
I just bought this guitar and it is wonderful. It came out of he box in great shape. I will put a heavier string on it and lower the action a bit however it is nice right of the bat. Mine is a little darker than the picture illustrates however it is still beautiful. The Pick-ups are good but maybe could be a little better. It is light and well balanced and has a lot of punch to it. It sounds heavier than you may think based on it's weight and feel. The detail work is good and the neck is nice and fast. I play through some high end heads so I am not sure how this guitar may sound through lower end equipment. I use Diezel, Bogner, Engl and Framus Heads and sometimes some Mesa stuff and it sounds great on all of them...I am confident you will be happy with it. Buy one, it is a great axe for the cash and when they are gone, they are gone....Hurry!
This is DV8 #2 for me and I've gotta say, these guitars rock!! I'm very pleased with Mustaine's collaberation with ESP and helping turn their V line into something incredible. Incredible cruch tone, sustain, and playability. These puppies are every bit as good as my Jackson counterparts and this one being the special edition model is absolutely gorgeous. Hurry before they're gone!
