Setting the standard high.
Set mahogany neck with a 24-3/4" scale and a mahogany body give this Viper a familiar feel and plenty of sustain. EMG-81/85 active humbuckers give it lots of bite. Professional appointments include Gotoh Tune-o-matic-style bridge with stop tailpiece, ebony fretboard with 24 extra-jumbo frets. White binding on neck and headstock provides a touch of swank. Black hardware including Gotoh Magnum locking tuners. Volume, tone, and 3-way switching.

I must say I'm surprised with some of the poor reviews on this fantastic instrument here on this page. This is without a doubt the best guitar I've ever owned or played, period. I play anything from metal to plain fuzz rock/punk rock styles, and its rich and low-mid distortion sound is without comparison. I picked it up and there were no squeaking noises or any flaws to put my finger on. It's like a futuristic SG, in design and sound. Compared to, for instance, the LTD series which gets alot of good credit, this rocker owns any LTD I've played, including the viper-1000 deluxe. The EMG-81 active humbuckers together with the mahogany neck and the ebony fretboard is just a killer combination. For those of you who are looking for a guitar that plays well on the clean channel, forget about this guitar and go for a Fender instead! This is an uncompromising rocker to the end.

This might be the guitar i was sent, and then returned, it has like a tiny chip on the top edge of the body of the guitar, approx over the bridge pickup, not on the face of the instrument. I didnt want to return this instrument, but for 1400usd, it should not have anything wrong with it, and every time i picked this thing up, i would see it. This is a brand new, straight guitar, functionally sound, the only thing wrong is the blemish, which you will be able to take care of, its less than a half inch. for under 900usd, im seriously thinking of just getting it for a friend, ill write a review for the super new one i recived in this ones place.

This guitar is amazing... Ive been playing it for a few years now, and i've never really had any trouble with it. Its tone is AMAZING, even on crappy amps. The EMGs give it such a mean and heavy sound. The only real problem i've ever had with it, wasn't the mine or the guitars fault. Friends in my studio put the strings on wrong and after a long while(month or so, i was outta town) the neck was so bowed the strings were touching the neck. We we straightend it out, and i've never had anything else go wrong. If your able to pay for it, this guitar is WELL worth the money. It sounds great in all kinds of music, and even if your not a big fan of heavy tone, the extra beef makes for a nice full, powerful tone.

Wow! It's hard for me to understand why someone would give this guitar a really bad review. Having had the opportunity to play just about whatever I want in whatever price range leads me to give this guitar a great review. The active pickups deliver as promised, the sustain is great. The neck and fretboard plays like butter. This is a true quality instrument, it isn't cheap but value is relative to to how well you can use a product. This guitar is on par with instruments that cost much much more.

I have the urban camo version and it's awesome. Great feel, easy to play and sure grabs everyone's attention. The finish is potentially the best part, but with the EMG's and easy-to-use tuners, this guitar is a dream. If you play metal, this baby is perfect.

I bought this guitar about 2 years ago. I still love it like the first day I got it. The neck makes it easy access to those high frets. I also love the Emg's. They have a bone-crushing tone that will absolutly kill you! This has been my main guitar for all of my gigs and WILL remain my guitar for all my gigs. If you have the money, I highly recommend this guitar.

I've owned USA made Gibson and Fender guitars and I have to saw that ESP blows them all away in terms of quality and craftsmanship. Everything on the guitar is perfect: frets, binding, paint, playability, etc. Oh, and the guitar itself sounds great too! The EMG-81 + mahogany give it a nice chunky tone meant for crunch and metal. The smoothed out heel gives it a neck thru feel and makes upper fret access no problem. The neck profile is perfect for me: not as fat as a standard Gibson but not super shredder thin either. I love my Viper Standard!

This guitar is a smooth playing beast. I own several ESp and ESP/LTD guitars and this one has now become my main live guitar. It has killer looks and Even better sound. The frettboard is fast and smooth. The only thing I don't like and it just happens to be personal preference is that the strap pin is located on the back side instead ot the side of the guitar which at times while playing live it likes to get hung up on the belt area.
